Our waiter was terrible. I’m not sure if he had too many tables but he would stop by and leave before I could place my order. I was ready to order before I even sat down but he left to get water and when he came back, he dropped it off and left without a word. When he returned to take our order, he asked if we wanted appetizers. We told him and before we could tell him that we were ready to put in our entrees, he left again! And didn’t come back until the appetizers are ready. When he finally took our complete order, he didn’t check back on us. He popped back up when our plates were empty and offered dessert. I ordered dessert and asked for the check as well. Of course the check came a good 15 mins after the dessert. I was disappointed and wouldn’t come back. Menlo Park location is much better and I think it’s worth the drive, imho.

I made reservations for outdoor dining. When we arrived we were told that our reservation was for indoor and the outdoor tables would be 1.5 hour wait. I had to prove to them that I made outdoor res through OpenTable. When we were shown our table I asked for a table in the back instead but was told that the tables were going to be combined for a larger party. While seated we noticed at least 5 tables around us that were open and stayed opened for almost our entire meal. Moreover the table that I requested was never put together for larger party, but were given to smaller parties that were white. I looked around and noticed that they had everyone of color on the edge of the outside area in the high traffic area and all of the low traffic inner tables were white. Not very happy with their hostesses and they’re in dire need of training.
I'm sure Left Bank is following local and state regulations, however there were awkward moments when patrons were seated literally next to each other (in booths people were back to back, those seated at inside windows had a table right outside because the window was open so basically sitting next to each other). Many times patrons would ask to be seated elsewhere and would be told another option is not available. Patrons (us included) commiserated with each other. It did put a damper on the ambiance.
Too much noise from the bar behind the restaurant.
We ate outside. There was loud techno music (boring). The hamburgers and Niçoise salads are very good.
Have never had a bad meal or poor service at the Left Bank.
Highly recommend. Make us feel as if were back in Paris.
I had lunch here with my mom. The staff was overall courteous and the service was good. I was not sure what to expect from a French restaurant, but I would say the food was bland. My mom and I ordered the Lamb Sandwich and Steak and Frites. My steak was a little over cooked and overall very bland. I had to ask for salt just to give it a little something. My mom ended up taking the rest of my salt as well. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, but the food was not worth the $$
Service was very slow, and when I stated to our server, two different times, that we needed to move thing along, I received only a shrug.
Disappointing dinner. We've eaten here numerous times and this past year the food's been substandard. I had steak frites. The steak was tough and served right on top of the fries, so the fries were soggy with beef juice. Overall just a lousy dinner. Ended up ordering bread (which we pay for there) just to be able to eat. The rose wine by the glass was good though. The menu is so uninspiring that the place is off our go-to list.

Had the a la carte brunch and frankly, Denny's does a better job. Eggs came sunny side up hard, I ordered over easy. Potatoes are nothing special, bacon cook to a crip. No chance for a second time.
We had a 5:15 pm reservations, took a very long time to get food. One wait person came to take our order, after getting our drink orders, then after waiting and waiting, another wait person came and said the kitchen lost our order. We didn’t finish dinner until close to 8:30pm.
I always enjoy coming to left Bank when we are in town and not in the mood for Escargot and French onion soup. We are never disappointed

Food was excellent but inside was so noisy, we had to shout to each other. It wasn't just the noise of diners but pans, and glassware, etc. Now we wish we had reserved an outside table...
My friends and I love to meet at this restaurant for lunch. They live on the coast; I live in Danville. Yesterday, these were our problems: 1) we each ordered the salade. We each wanted the poached egg cooked at different levels. Ed also ordered the Truffle Frites. The salads arrived and only my egg was as I had ordered it. The kitchen would not replace these eggs with what my friends had ordered. The frites didn't arrive until after we had eaten. We asked for salt & pepper. It took too long to receive and when they arrived, there were no peppercorns in the pepper mill. I needed a refill of my Arnold Palmer. That also took forever. My friend, Ed Lipson paid for lunch with his credit card. Only one of their salads was taken off the bill. The entire experience was SO disappointing . . . Maybe the kitchen is highly understaffed?
As always, a great experience. Tommy, our waiter, was outstanding. Attentive, funny, excellent service.
I went with two friends to celebrate birthdays. We sat outside and it was a gorgeous day. The tables were not too close to each other which we appreciated. We shared cheese fondue which is one of our favorite appetizers anywhere! Also tried a new dish, Prawns Provençal, which is now a new favorite. All of the food was delicious, the service was attentive and the experience was exceptional all around.
Outdoor seating was pleasant and tastefully decorated, and the noise level was acceptable. However, the dishes were only delivered after a long wait. The seafood smelled suspicious and one of the entries was not the one ordered. Though the waiter immediately apologized and corrected the problems, the wait was further prolonged and the experience was not good at all. Used to quite like this place, but will not visit again until they get back on track.
A very nonchalant reception for all guests as far as we could observe. Receptionist seemed uninterested in the job and remote/detuned. Appetizers were good, but main courses were disappointing. I had come here for lunch two years before and was very impressed with the reception, the food, and the waiter. But this time was very different. Not the same restaurant I remembered coming to before. Most likely won’t return until I see new set of customer reviews that show progress.
The Left Bank has always been a favorite! But after a brunch for 2 this past Sunday running up a bill of $140.00 (incl. $20.00 tip), I looked at the bill and found there was a 5% charge that is shared amongst the staff as a retention fund, the hamburger was $23.00 and extra bread (2 pieces french bread) was $4.00 (who charges for bread???)makes this to be a very expensive place to eat and frankly poor value. The service was extremely slow for some reason, though very nice waiter who was good when he did get to you, but the meal was stretched to over 2 hours. And when we asked for salad and got fries, the meal was almost over before the replacement salad came. Not that it's required, but I had listed in the reservation it was a birthday celebration and there was no recognition of it. Often nicer restaurants at least recognize the occasion. There were no specials, few brunch/breakfast options and frankly the menu has gone a bit stale and needs some new items. I'm grateful they're open for business, but I suspect we'll be looking for other options rather than having this as our "go to place" esp. for special occasions.

Not sure the bartender was qualified! People around us sent mixed drinks back to be remade and although I didn’t send my dirty martini back I should have. I was off but I muddled through it…
The staff at Left Bank Santana Row is rude. I went there on Saturday at 3:45 and ask for a table for 2; the host told us he only had a coffee table available on the side as we didn’t have a reservation and those were for people with reservations. We accepted it.
Once we were sat we witnessed that many tables were available in the outdoor seating area and decided to check on open table and see if there were any reservations available. And there was availability at 4pm; 4:15pm, 4:30pm and so on. I decided to book it so we could get a table outdoors. My friend went to the same host and ask to get move to one of the tables in the outdoors area and he said no it wasn’t possible even with the reservation.
Then we waited hoping to speak with our waiter and ask him to accommodate us; he never came. Then I tried speaking to the other host in the restaurant and she move us to another coffee table in another side section. We witness how every guest that check in was walked into the outdoors patio but we didn’t get to sit there. Even though we had asked for it.
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t want to seat us where everyone else was getting seated. We were able to book a reservation and they had plenty of availability.
If there were more than 5 stars for service, our server deserved them!
Server was nice & friendly but food wasn't timed good. Seemed like the server was stretched and everywhere at once. Food was ok.
Food was overpriced and not even good. There were 7 of us and none of the dishes was good.
Service was very slow, probably because they don’t have enough servers. It was okay because we weren’t in a hurry.

Bring your own water, slow to refill and when they do they only fill half of an already small glass.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, which was noted in our reservation, but there was no acknowledgment whatsoever by the restaurant and its staff. The restaurant was very busy and service was slow. Our server forgot some of our items ordered throughout the meal and was apologetic.
It was a gorgeous day and the servers and host were friendly. Good food too.

The food was delicious and our waiter (Jazz) was excellent. He was very attentive to our needs.
Molten chocolate cake was chewy and cold. My steak was supposed to be medium, but served well done- the flavor was still good though. Service was ok.
The food was great as always. We had oysters and the bouillabaisse. Eating outside was pleasant and comfortable.
Love Left Bank. They expanded the outdoor space and it's a lovely place to have your meal. The food & drinks are delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful. It's a great setting to have a good meal.
