Still the best French food in Chicago. Straightforward classic cuisine. I had the assorted pates-perfect.Four small pates. That and the best soufflé in America makes the evening. Very fine reasonably priced wine list if you know French wines.
Les Nomades continually delivers everything you would want in a great French restaurant.
Impeccable service. I was a bit scared by all the silverware but did not feel judged. Great wine offerings. I absolutely loved the mushroom soup, and asparagus risotto. One item from each course was perfect. The lamb is perfect. Even my date who doesn't like lamb was very impressed. My only complaint was the grand mariner souffle was way too alcoholic for me. Go with the passion fruit!
First, the food was fantastic. If you're in the mood for a great meal, absolutely go. If, on the other hand you are also in the mood to enjoy the company of friends, go anywhere else. We have dined out with the same couple at least 10 times a year for many years and last Saturday at Nomades, we were "shhh'd" for the first time. The restaurant really isn't that quiet but the occasional laughter at our table was too much for management and they told us to keep it down. We're all in our middle 50's but we brought the average age down by a lot. Mostly old fossils who don't appreciate anyone enjoying each other rather than just the food. The place is a bit full of themselves. We made a mental note to come back when we're 80 and using walkers... To top off the evening, we waited for 20 minutes for our car at the restaurant's valet station. One final bit is the guy with the shaved head who seated us was smelled like an ashtray. Disgusting.
Took girlfriend for her Birthday, she loved it. Great place for a special event!
Great dining experience
Les Nomads has possibly the best food in any high-end restaurant I have been to in North America. It compares favorably with Michelin-starred restaurants in France. It is definitely a special occasion place as it is expensive, but each course was delightful. Starting with the amuse-bouche of a delicate corn soup, then an artichoke terrine, a crab salad, roast duck breast with a confit leg, and a passion fruit souffle for dessert, it was all exquisite. There is a prix-fixe menu with many good choices, and the atmosphere is lovely and romantic.
My food was amazing, all of it. My wife's food was only partially amazing. Her salad was very small and the fish main course, the special, could have been better. Personally, I never pick fish at a restaurant that is more than 100 miles from the ocean.
Overall experience was amazing. Food was very well prepared and high quality.
Les Nomades provides a true service oriented prix fixe experience. We couldn't have had a better service team (it really was a team effort) and the quality of the food with its presentation truly harkens back to an older era of fine dining. While dining at Les Nomades may not be an every night affair, we've had an exceptional time celebrating my wife's previous two birthdays at Les Nomades. Highly recommend for special occasions.
I’ve been dining at Les Nomades for more than 30 years! I’m a huge fan and have to say that it only seems to get better. Mary Beth is an amazing host —elegant, tactful, and always on top of any situation. Roland never ceases to amaze with his creations and staff are impeccable.
This was one of the most disappointing dinners we've had in decades & we want to caution people before they, too, come away heartbroken. We knew Chef Roland Liccioni's cuisine from Carlo's & Le Francais but this dinner could not have been a more mediocre experience, which is completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber & at this price point. When one spends nearly $1,000 for dinner, every mouthful should be a revelation, every sip of wine perfection. This meal fell so far below that, & was not nearly as good as the many other restaurants we frequent, from top-tier places like Everest and North Pond to mid-range stars like Anteprima, La Sardine, Kiki's, Marisol, City Mouse, Riccardo Trattoria, Trattoria No 10 & more. We've had the same dishes far better prepared at almost all of these wonderful places.
The problems started with a tiny tempura soft shell crab that was mostly tempura breading. The chilled torchon of Hudson Valley foie gras was fine but definitely no better than at most places around town. Same with the asparagus risotto, lobster & shrimp salad, Salade Lyonnaise. Even the much-touted seasonal white asparagus, which should have been sublime, was merely good. For the 1st 2 courses, nothing was inedible but nothing stood out either. All were merely adequate. The main courses, however, took a dive. The dover sole had been cut into tiny overcooked slivers, which were mixed with vegetables & served in a bowl, a sad interpretation of what is usually a lovely dish. The duo of slow-roasted veal and lamb loin was cold & overdone, though medium rare had been requested. Desserts fared no better -- mediocre tarte tatin & souffle, again both are usually a marvel at Chicago's good French restaurants. Even the candies & cookies that follow fancy meals were ho-hum at best. Based on this experience, we are mystified about how Les Nomades has made it this long. We were so looking forward to this dinner but could not have been most dismayed by its reality.
Very generous portions of delicious food — inventive without being precious. A great dining experience for a major birthday. Yum.
Gourmet food, superior service, extensive wine list and overall attention to detail makes this a spot for a special evening.
The reasons for the 4, rather than 5, stars in the "Value" category:
1. The fish course of my 5-course dinner, though exquisitely delicious, had to be the smallest piece(s) of dover sole I have ever sampled in my eatings around the world.
2. Corkage fee was $75 per bottle! The issue of corkage fee was not specified in the menu or on the website. And yes, both guests and hosts were in a polite, congenial mood and nobody would want to be crass and talking about "MONEY". Precisely because of this context, an unspoken corkage fee of $75/bottle did seem to border on "price-gouging" or "sock it to the rich".
That said, I cannot say enough about the graciousness and professionalism of Ms Liccioni and her staff.

Always such an excellent experience! Thank you!! Came all the way from Philadelphia and it was our first stop!!
Wonderful evening made even better by our server, Carlos. Carlos was fun, informative, and such a wonderful person. Request him if you can! The food was exceptional with a variety of flavor offerings. The building is very old, with a strange layout. The dining room is divided among several floors so be prepared to climb some stairs! Once you get over the weird building, and banquet seating, the experience was great.
I’m not sure here to begin! This was the most enjoyable and pleasant meal I can remember. Everything was perfect. Service, prompt and courteous but most importantly timed to us. When we needed something they seemed to read our minds. Next the wine, we had thought of something but could not quite remember what it was. After a minute we had exactly what we were looking for on our table. Now the food, I cannot begin to describe the joy it brought to our taste buds and soul. It was morel mushroom season so we got a dish featuring this wonderful fungus. The portions were filling, we walked out very satisfied. What a very French touch to have, what I assume were the owners, check in to make sure everything was to our liking and the one owner pleasantly presented us with the check. Again very French, to have the meal price fixed so we could concentrate on the food and not the budget. Thank you everyone at Les Nomades for a memorable experience!
We celebrated my husband’s birthday. Dinner was amazing, delicious, elegant, phenomenal service from beginning to end. We had not been in a few years but promise to return.
Just an incredible meal and equally impressive service
The food and the ambience were excellent. The setting was very intimate which allowed for my wife and I to have a nice conversation without having to talk over people. As far as price, it was a nice price point for the excellent quality as well as quantity of food. We certainly did not leave hungry nor disappointed. In terms of overall experience, I believe this was in the top five restaurants in Chicago that I’ve experienced which includes Alinea and Sixteen at the Trump.I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and will be back in the future.
Best meal I have had in Chicago, or perhaps anywhere. The service was impeccable. The environment pleasant and quiet. A true gem.
The penultimate romantic restaurant and/ or quiet restaurant to revel in exquisite food preparation and service. They have put the graciousness into dining.
Expensive but excellent, thoroughly worth the $500 spent on the two of us. LOVED: the caviar appetizer, the artichoke appetizer, etc
Very good french cuisine. Awesome desserts
One of the best 5 course meals in a quiet romantic setting.
Service team was fantastic.
Five excellent courses, each served precisely on time. Quiet, unhurried, friendly atmosphere. This was our first visit but we will be back.! We would recommend asking the cost of the Champaign that is initially offered if you wish to be careful about the final tab.
This was my visit to the restaurant which came highly recommended through social media. It did not disappoint. My son and I sat next to a couple who came all the from California to celebrate a birthday at Les Nomades.
The fixed priced four course meal was exquisite agony trying to decide which of the delicious dishes to choose. The entree I picked of sweet breads and venison was perfectly prepared while my son choose a steak which was served just the way he requested. Topping off the meal was a Grand Mariner Soufflé that is the best I have ever tasted. It is a not inexpensive restaurant but for special occasions I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I would be remiss not to highlight to superb service that was both professional and attentive while remaining cordial to every guest in the handsome and intimate dining area. I would return to Chicago just to dine again there.
One can always count on Les Nomades to deliver a superb meal with flowers, exquisite service - all in an atmosphere where one doesn't have to hear about the diner next door's 3rd divorce from the same person!
I will say that a couple two tables away had their cell phones on the table and were texting and showing each other their phones during their entire dining experience. This should not be tolerated at such a special spot where understated elegance is so valued. Might they consider a discreet sign somewhere that forbids cell phones any where but on the sidewalk outside? It was very distracting to say the least.
A gem of Chicago!!!
Amazing customization of food to our preferences and dietary restrictions
Our third time here, was good but not the charm. The ambiance was lovely. The waitstaff was attentive. The wine was delicious. However, the food did not rise to the level of our first two visits. Moreover, there was an inexplicably long delay between a couple of the courses. We would go back, however, we will not be rushing back.
Fabulous Traditional French. Every dish/course was excellent including the two amuse-bouches. The soufflé for dessert was perfection. Very few can make a good soufflé. Service was excellent; well done, well timed, friendly and non-intrusive. The townhouse setting is charming but upstairs is much nicer for dinning, in my opinion and experience.
The food, wine & service were excellent.
Stepping into Les Nomades is like stepping off of a plane and being in Paris. It’s an intimate little jewel of a place, super elegant and the food is classic with a twist, but ever so divine. We’ve been celebrating special occasions there for many years. Love that it’s a quiet atmosphere with no cell phone conversations permitted. One of Chicago’s best kept secret places. Always love being there! Exceptional service!
Amazing ! The minimum text requirement is dumb
Amazing! Highly recommend.
Very disappointed with everything about the meal. We were in town for the night. Thought I’d found someplace for a nice dinner. The food was marginal. There were no other diners in the restaurant which was really bizarre. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Our food and wine pairings were excellent. Wait staff were very knowledgeable and professional. One of the best of the best for french dining.
Les Nomades is old-school, but not old fashioned. Updated French cuisine, beautifully prepared, with impeccable service and a nice wine list. This is a restaurant for grown-ups. Expensive, but worth it.
This place is amazing 😍🥂🎉
