Lasagna Alla Bolognese
homemade lasagna with meat sauce, bechamel, mozzarella and parmiggiano cheese
homemade fettuccine with porcini, shitake and oyster mushrooms in a black truffle sauce
tube pasta in a spicy tomato sauce
Lovely outdoor patio, good safety precautions and excellent Italian food. Mushroom pasta was excellent as was the halibut!
Always a great spot! Hidden treasure.
A neighborhood gem. Frequent when I am in SF relaxed atmosphere friendly menus offering. Creative Dishes with out overkill.
Family friendly delightful outdoor patio dining
A must if you are in SF Noe Valley
The food was excellent. Was Like going to an Italian family for dinner. People were very friendly. Can’t wait to go back
The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. Great neighbor restaurant.
Every time we eat at Lupa, we are reminded of just how good it is. The food is always spot on. Delicious Italian pastas and a great wine list to match. They offer both indoor dining and also have a cute, terraced area outdoors. The service is friendly and professional. We'll be back!
My favorite Italian spot in SF. The staff is super friendly, and the food is bomb. The outdoor seating in the back is cute.
One of our consistent favorites. I feel like their kitchen is my kitchen. Don't want to sounds like an ad for some one else, but I feel like family when I'm there.
Delicious food. Beautiful deck in the back was very Covid friendly. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. Glad we finally went back again!
Excellent food (lamb, lasagne and seafood pasta entrees plus bosc pear and prosciutto and crustini appetizers) and service (very personable, attentive, fun). Would definitely return and hope to do so again soon.
I love the food here! Everything is delicious and it is perfect for friends and family.
We went to Lupa Trattoria on a Monday evening for a date night. The beginning was rushed - it was unclear where the host stand was, and they initially couldn’t find our OpenTable reservation which was odd, and the service wasn’t overly friendly despite several open tables. Food and wine were better than average, pasta was wonderfully cooked to al dente, although I wouldn’t say anything was unique or better than your average Italian specialty spot.
Probably would not make a habit of returning, but if something on the menu catches your eye it would make for a nice weekday date night.
Head server is terrific, but everyone who works there is professional and friendly. Food is first-rate, of course, especially the pork chop and the fettuccine. Great salad as well.
We felt like we were eating authentic Italian food! It was delicious.
Fantastic! I will definitely be back.
This is a great neighborhood restaurant. Food is always good. Staff is friendly. We could eat there every day.
I go to Lupa Trattoria for the Secondi - their roasted meat dishes. Pretty much everything on the menu is good, but the secondi are what make this restaurant stand out. They are always cooked to perfection, usually served with a drizzle of intensely flavorful sauce. I typicaly order the rack of lamb or the duck, but this visit, I went with the pork chop - thick, juicy and delicious. A fabulous dinner. We weren't able to reserve an outdoor table, so we ate indoors. With Covid, Lupa has reduced the number of tables to provide more distance between diners. A side benefit is the dining room has gotten quieter. Lupa Trattoria is a neighborhood gem.
Food was very good as usual. Service ce is not at all what it used to be. The waitress was very gruff with the table; they were unable to bring us an extra small bowl to allow us to share a pasta dish that we told them we would share when we ordered!
Finally, and this is a problem with many restaurants now for some reason, they close the kitchen at 8:00 pm. I understand why restaurants needed to operate on a limited basis when the pandemic caused shutdowns and limited seating, but now that they can seat fully in the dining room plus have the additional outdoor seating that came on during the indoor dining restrictions, and now that almost every restaurant I have gone to in the past 3 months since the city fully reopened has been full, why are restaurants still closing kitchens at 8:00? In NYC where I just spent two weeks, every restaurant was serving at least until 11:00!
Great food friendly staff offset slightly by dirty interior and sticky tables
Excellent service. Cute outdoor patio in the back. EXCELLENT food.
Their outdoor patio is lovely and the food was very good. Warm bread, baked in house, was excellent. I dined with a friend of mine and we ordered a Caesar Salad, and we mentioned to our sever that we would share it. I really appreciated how they split the salad into two separate plates - that was unexpected and a really nice touch.
My entrée of pan roasted halibut with roasted potatoes and spinach was excellent. My friend ordered the lasagna which I tasted and it was also very good. I will order that on a future visit.
However, our visit ended up being very disappointing because after 1 hour and 40 minutes we were asked to finish up and vacate our table because another party was waiting for it. We were still drinking our wine as we were sharing a bottle that we'd ordered when placing the order for our meal. I've dined at some restaurants that have a 90 minute policy, particularly while Covid restrictions were in force (although this was in late July and no Covid restrictions were in force) BUT in that case I've always been informed about that by the restaurant staff prior to being seated OR via the online reservation confirmation. In this case we were not informed in advance that we needed to leave our table by a specified time. If we had known that we needed to leave after 1 hour 40 minutes, then we likely would not have ordered a bottle of wine to share between the two of use and would have instead ordered glasses of wine so that we would be finished within the allotted time.
I will visit Lupa Tratttoria in future, but next time I'll be sure to ask if there's a time limit on the table before I place my order so that I can ensure that I'll be finished within the allotted time.
Welcoming, warm service, and exceptional Italian cuisine. If you want a piece of Italy, definitely make a reservation and enjoy!
Delicious and very reasonable
The food was good. Not outstanding. What stood out was the service. Servers seemed rushed and it felt like every time we had a question or needed something, we were a nuisance.
I love this restaurant and always order the duck breast with marsala and faro. It is so delicious I have to enjoy it each time. I am sure other dishes are equally good.
Great food and wonderful to be eating in a restaurant again. There was outside dinning with heaters and comfortable density inside. Food was outstanding and nicely plated and presented.
A true neighborhood gem. Very courteous wait team and wonderful food!
On a Monday night, the place was full of locals - for good reasons. Very authentic Italian food with a well priced wine list in addition. Owner was present throughout the restaurant making sure everyone's experience was a good one. Highly recommended.
Great local find. This was our second visit and the food and service was top shelf. The ambiance was very pleasant and not noisy. We had Pastas and entrees were both excellent.
Wonderful and delicious- we will be back- excellent service too
We love Lupa!
Came in for a dinner with my two brothers, food was delicious, atmosphere was fine, however, we felt pretty rushed by the staff to leave so much so that my brother didn’t even finish eating! The staff kept asking to take his plate away (after he was clear he was still going) so after the third ask he gave in and we paid/left.
Would return again perhaps on a different night.
Local gem of a restaurant. Definitely put this on my list to return. Owner was very charming. Food was very good. Wine was good. Loved the outside back patio.
Great service and homemade pastas.
The spinach stuffed ravioli was the best of our meals. Creme brûlée did not taste good burnt.
Great food, great service!
Another wonderful meal at Luca. They have a great courtyard in the back which I hope they keep open. It’s wonderful sitting out there and very warm with the overhead heaters.
The food is always wonderful, fresh, flavorful and the pasta is the best.
The service is always wonderful. Great wine suggestions and friendly banter.
For San Francisco the prices are very reasonable.
It’s our favorite local Italian place for dinner.
Service and food were amazing even with many reservations arriving. We’ll done!!!
They take reservations at 8:15 but close the kitchen at 8 and push you out quickly.
Loved the food. But being told we had to order all entrees and starters at the same time because that’s what the kitchen required was odd to say the least.
We have eaten at Lupa Trattoria 8 or 10 times recently. It has always been delicious, the service wonderful and efficient, and the atmosphere quite pleasant.
