Market by Jean-Georges Restaurant
Great for dining.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was some of the best food we’ve ever eaten. The ambience made it feel like we were all alone and it was very romantic. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were going to be treated to a perfect evening.
we had a wonderful time the service was incredible and the food was exquisite
Food was outstanding. Our server was so knowledgeable and had a terrific personality. Highly satisfactory evening.
Consistent as always!
We went there for our staff new year luncheon on the day of and the food, services, and ambience were on point. We really enjoyed our time there. We may consider having our lunch there again in the beginning of 2020.
We love Market and chose to celebrate our 25th anniversary there. While we like their entrees, we chose to graze on appetizers and our server kindly coursed them out in a logical way. They also treated us to dessert and some champagne. The only dish I wasn’t fond of was the squash velouté but our waiter came by shortly after serving it and when I told him I found it bitter he replaced mine with a delicious foraged mushroom soup instead.
There’s really nothing I don’t like about Market. The atmosphere is elegant yet casual enough and the food and service is impeccable. My only annoyance that night was the booth next to us who kept taking flash photos for their Instagram but I can’t hold the restaurant responsible for guests with no class.
Elegant room, attentive service, excellent foodie experience
The chocolate in the chocolate lava cake was amazing with the raspberry.
Great service. Delicious food.
Went for breakfast while staying close by. All food was excellent (eggs Benedict, French toast - amazing, omelette, scrambled eggs). Service fabulous. They overheard us talking about my husband birthday and brought us chocolate strawberries on a happy birthday plate. Would highly recommend and would definitely come back next time in Vancouver.
I had an amazing date night at NYE. The food is pricy but it's worth it. Highly recommended!
Not so easy to find first time. Nice welcome however lovely server Kanis. Kids happy so everyone happy. Thank you.
It was nice interesting brunch and enjoyed the meals.
Perfect everything. Food was delicious. Staffs very attentative and friendly. Hope to go again soon.
As a NYC person I’m picky but A+. Fabulous and fantastic. Food was amazing and absolutely a must on all foodies list. Phenomenal vegan menu as well. Service excellent and love the ambience.
This was by far one of the best culinary experiences we’ve ever had! The attention to detail on the food is just amazing; all the flavours compliment each other so well!! I don’t know what else to say...the wild mushroom soup = best I’ve ever had. Ahi tuna tartare with the sesame chips went so well together. The tagliatelle was cooked perfectly. Even though these were all amazing, the star dish of the night had to be the slow cooked steelhead!! This is my second time ordering a fish on their menu and it’s outstanding!! The flavours just go so well together and the fish is cooked perfectly medium rare; it just flakes and melts into your mouth. Probably the best fish I’ve ever had. For dessert, we tried the Market Cheesecake, which was a lemon cheesecake with some fruit (both dried and fresh) and blueberry sorbet. Again, flavours compliment each other so darn well. Another winner!! The chefs at Market by Jean Georges need the recognition they deserve. The food is outstanding! We’ll definitely be returning in the future.
A good meal here but I’ve had better at this restaurant.
Set menu was uninspired. Would have needed a microscope to find let alone taste the black truffle in the ho hum risotto. A previous lunch was no better. Service tried but sensed they would rather be elsewhere.
This was our first experience at Market by Jean-Georges Restaurant and they did not disappoint. We went for their Christmas Day Brunch. It was a set menu and there were several options for each of the 4 courses.
The food was was well presented and the 3 of us tried various options and we were all very satisfied with every course. We were told there was a 2 hour time limit for the table and that was more than sufficient to complete our meal at a leisurely pace.In conclusion from the moment we were greeted at the door until leaving the staff were professional friendly and made our experience most memorable. We can't wait to go try the dinner.
Food executed poorly for Christmas Eve menu. This could have been because it was a set menu.
The cocktails were very impressive with hand shaved ice cubes and unique ingredients and flavor pairings. Great wine list. Food was superb. It felt a little bit odd to be told we had two hours to eat our meal but then have the service seem slow for that time frame. Disappointed to see so many diners on their phones and dressed casually at such a high end restaurant. A dress code and electronics policy would be nice to see.
Great service. Delicious food.
Christmas Lunch with clients
We went for a special occasion dinner with family. Service was outstanding and the restaurant was quiet and comfortable. Most of the food was fabulous (shrimp salad, mushroom soup, sablefish in particular). Unfortunately we were disappointed with the sashimi starter and one of our halibut entres, which we thought was over cooked. Overall it was a really lovely evening.
SEARED SCALLOP 23
Caramelized Cauliflower, Caper - Raisin Emulsion
Three SMALL scallops with a dollop of sauce and bits of charred cauliflower arrived on a white dinner plate, taking up maybe a third of the plate. (I’m being generous; it was closer to 1/4 of the plate.) Was expecting large juicy scallops, not this. Not a good start.
PEACE RIVER RACK OF LAMB 48
Ras El Hanout, Oyster Mushrooms, Minted Shallot Purée
The lamb entree was good; just under $50, but still better value than the scallops. The mushrooms were good. Missing a bit more starch (potatoes) to make it complete.
MUSHROOM RISOTTO 23
64° Soft - Poached Egg, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Enoki Fritter
This was the real star of the meal. Absolutely to-die-for. I would come back just for this. Surprisingly, the same price as the disappointing scallop appetizer.
Service was meh. We were staying in the hotel, so we charged it to the room; otherwise we would have had to wait even longer for the inattentive waiter to bring a machine for a credit card.
Not in a rush to come back...but will make a trip for the risotto - that was definitely delicious.
Such great experience. High-servicing and food quality; definitely recommend for special occasions!
The food was surprisingly good. We were pleased with the food and service.
Tough to imagine a much better meal. Appetizers were perfect, entreés were perfect. I had one of the great steaks I have ever had and my wife had fabulous short ribs. Dessert was incredible. Food was plated in such a way that I took pictures of the food; now, that doesn't sound revolutionary in this day and age, but I am NOT a "take pictures of my food" guy. We will be back for sure.
Excellent food, service and ambiance!
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambiance.
We shared the fresh oysters to start and these were a nice size but most importantly very fresh. We followed this up with the tagliatelle/braised beef and the mushroom risotto with a side order of scallops -just wonderful ! The service all round was absolutely excellent.
Server left us sitting at the table for almost 30 minutes after the plates had been cleared, without bringing the bill. Bread was brought long after drinks were brought and orders placed, so we were left sitting with just drinks getting hungry for over an hour.. If this restaurant is going to enforce an automatic 18 percent gratuity on groups of 8 or more, they should do two things: 1) let us know ahead of time (ay time of booking and confirming) so we can decide if this is acceptable, and 2) have service that warrants an 18 percent tip.
Overall a great experience! The scallops were a bit oily this time.
Had the dinner tasting menu and this is one of the most capable kitchens in Vancouver. Serving Nouvelle Haute cuisine showcasing French technique and Asian inspired flavours with wonderful BC ingredients. My meal was balanced, flavourful, and beautifully plated. Each ingredient was expertly prepared. This is a world class restaurant in terms of service, food, drinks, and ambience. Perfect for the special occasions!
I've had the pleasure of dining at Market for several work events, but this was the first time celebrating a special occasion with my spouse. It was a fantastic evening and the tasting menu was absolutely wonderful. The hand-crafted cocktails are also pretty amazing! Definitely recommended.
Had a small group of four, our server was amazing ( I wish I could recall his name, he was French ) and the food was delicious. We had a small hiccup with the temperature of one of the dishes, but it was taken care of immediately, and the restaurant generously took it off the bill, and took are of dessert. Did not expect that, but it was definitely a classy touch. Will be back for sure.
I personally had the chicken breast and it was so juicy and delicious. The wine list was very commendable. Great evening out. Keep up the good work
Everything was good however the servings need to be slightly larger.
Delicious tasting menu. Amazing personal service. Great place for an anniversary.
