Mezzo Grille - CT
Made a reservation, drive all the way to Middletown, and the place was closed. IGN o. Door indicated they should ha e been open.
The restaurant accepted reservations through open table for a Saturday at 12:30pm. Restaurant isn’t open until 4pm (per sign in the window). Disappointing when it was a lunch plan during a busy day, and the restaurant you have a reservation for is closed and you are never notified. The restaurant needs to notice when they receive a reservation through open table to fix the issue, or contact customers.
Great summer atmosphere on back deck. Food was terrific
Extremely slow service, our dinner took almost 1 hour to come out. Judging by how dry my chicken was, it had been under the heat lamp for some time.
Service was bad, food and drinks were average. Not impressed by the drink menu. A drink I selected wasn’t available any longer but was still on the menu. Overall wasn’t impressed and wished I chose another place to go to on a Saturday night.
Lost a point for not haveing the Blue cheese olives for the dirty girl martini
Food Service and Atmosphear were all good. Singer was great, nice touch.
Valentine's day was a blast! Got two of the specials, both came out promptly and were delicious. My girlfriend really enjoyed the desert a chocolate flour free tart. We didn't know of it, but we were there for the trivia, which was fun! Great time overall, and would recommend.
The service was good and there was a wide variety of beer choices .
Our party was 2 couples meeting for dinner. The food was very tasty, and better than I expected for bar food.
The table we sat at, was a little tight on space, out dirty dishes did not get cleared in a timely manner, this made for a lot of juggling plates. Also, there were no extra napkins for the wings, it just made for a bit of a messy situation.
Over all it is a place that I will return to in the future.
Fun atmosphere, great selection for one picky eater and one person doing a low carb diet!
We had a reservation for 5 for 7:45. At 8pm we were told our waitress would be coming over. At 8:15 another waitress said our waitress would be coming over. I think she felt bad for us because she came right back and took our drink and appetizer order. Our waitress finally showed up and asked for our order. Appetizer arrived - no plates or silverware. Food took forever but was delicious. We had to ask anyone who walked by to help us. We went to the bar for a second round. Had to send the kids to the bar to ask for to go containers. The place wasn't even packed. Great food. Amazing ambiance. But staff needs to get up to speed. I heard them apologizing to another table as well (no one actually apologized to us at all).
This was a bar, not a restaurant. Pizza was worse than frozen from the grocery store, salads were as basic as pre-packaged, meatballs tasted plain and more of breadcrumbs than meat, Brussels sprouts were over sauced, over cooked and under seasoned. The piped-in indoor music was was too loud for conversation and competed with the noise from the outdoor live music. If just drinking beer and looking for an outdoor patio, this would be a good place.
Terrible service!! 15 min to get 2 beers and 2 margaritas, didn’t bring water as originally requested so after 15 minutes had to request again 15, an entree came late after all others at table had finished......
Excellent burgers and fries ... and, of course, a great glass of Malbec on the side. Loved the outside seating option ... great little hideaway for sure!! Will be heading back for much of the same real soon!!
It is definitely a night life spot- especially in the warmer weather so if that’s not your scene I’d say dine on the earlier side and you’ll be very happy. Stellar service, unique menu, the bang for your buck is unparalleled.
Great service, new menu with lots of reasonable options. Love the live dinner music and not having to wait until late.
It is closed and is reopening as a pizza place...we went with a reservation but no one told Open Table of the closure.
When we arrived at the restaurant for our reservation we discovered the building boarded up. There were actual newspapers in the window. The restaurant was closed and had been closed for a while. It was very disappointing, because we had to scramble to find another location for our family dinner.
Not a place to go with the family! So many better places in the area w way better food!
Food was edible, but good would be a stretch. Drinks were GODAWFUL. Asked for a margarita, got a pint glass of sour mix with a shot of tequila. Waitress literally said “I can’t deal with anymore people tonight” to another waiter a table away in the dining room between appetizers, before taking our dinner order. The restaurant was maybe half full with more than enough staff. On top of all of that the bill was wrong, like the numbers literally did not add up to the totals.
Food was fantastic. Waitress was very friendly and nice, but not very attentive for it not being all that busy
Server was great but the kitchen was very slow. I ordered a salad that came out with my entree rather than prior to it. Party of seven but the entrees came out in stages. I was almost finished by the time a friend received his entree.
The waiter was good and honest the female bartender in the front part intentionally made my Long Island weak because I asked for it to be strong so the waiter went to the outside bartender and had it made properly .. when a service is being rendered and a customer is paying you give that customer the value for their dollar .. you don't take it upon yourself to short change that customer. So the reviews I give are not going to be all good based on this first experience ...
Great find to entertain clients! Will definitely be back
Very nice patio. The musician was very talented. Mixed martini drink was average, beers were nice and cold.
The fish and chips wirh malt vinegar was delicious. The calamari to-do and the poppers yummy.
First let me say our waitress Emma was great and very attentive. The restaurant was not busy at all but it took forever to get our 4 burgers. They were nothing great and our fries were cold. Would go back just to set outside for drinks and entertainment.
Bar scene not our cup of tea. Food was ok. Noise was WAY loud.
Awesome Wednesday night Prime Rib special! Couldn't be better 😊
Me and my boyfriend had the best day ever there. We had an amazing drink I believe called big nuts. We kept those coming all night. We were surprised that there was an acoustical singer there and that made the night perfect. The maple bacon wrapped wings were incredible as well as our filet mignon dinner!!! Can't wait to go back!!!
An overall positive experience, with live music. Chicken piccata was a little salty, apparently due to overabundance of capers, but was still flavorful. I would dine there again.
Great time. Met friends for Dinner and then had drinks afterwards...
French fries were overdone /the shinolas were fabulous and that is why I went
Apps were cold. Salads were swimming in dressing. Food quality subpar
We went to mezzos, my fathers favorite place mind you, to celebrate his 60th birthday on 8/24. It was by far the worst food we have ever had. I had to send my shrimp tacos back, because they were completely raw. Not one or two, but all of the shrimps . It was a Wednesday, prime rib night, however you had run out of prime rib. My finances lobster roll was very dry, and the meal my parents chose because there wasn't any prime rib, that they had come for, was very fatty. The calamari we ordered for an appetizer was heavily fried. Our server was the hostess who was very sweet but seemed overwhelmed.
I am rating our experience as very poor and I am not sure I would recommend this place to other family and friends.
It's always a great time at Mezzos, whether dinner or the outdoor area for drinks! It has been a little too loud to have dinner conversation at times with the live entertainment.
Service was great - food was hit or miss - clam chowder was bland and The cannoli cheesecake rubbery - but the wedge salad with the hanger steak excellent. other members of my party said their food was good! Worth trying again just to make sure it just wasn't an off day
Actually when we got there the place was empty, no receptionist yet. But the bartender was great. After having a cocktail with him he sat us and we had a wonderful meal. When were leaving the place was filling up. Plus there was a lot of activity outside in the back. Happy hour I think.
Very good local eatery with friendly, helpful staff in a noisy but still fun ambience. Our party of four adults and two 11-year-olds appreciated the variety of dining choices that ranged from "pub food" to more "dressy" options including salmon, beef, veal, and pasta.
We should have known something was different when we realized we could hear the thumping music from two blocks down the street. The music was so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves talk. That is until the guitarist started playing. We ordered our apps and , noticing that our neighbor table got their dinner when they hadn't finished their apps, decided to wait to order our entrees. Our appetizers - calamari (decent but not spectacular) and spinach/artichoke dip (way too salty) came on time but our meals took over an hour to get to us. My fish and chips was overcomes and felt like it was frozen-too uniform pieces. My wife's chicken sandwich had a way too heavy, gloppy cheese sauce. In addition, our drinks got mixed up as did our beer menu. They should have noticed something was wrong when not one of us finished our food with most of us leaving over half of our meal on the plate. I will never be back.
We love this place, service is spot on with local cuisine. We both had the hanger steak, onion soup & Cesar salad. The chocolate martini's are very good. We did have to send one of our steaks back as it wasn't cooked the way we asked, other than that, everything was perfect.
