The dishes were a bit disappointing- nothing really stood out to us. We left unsatisfied after the meal.

Gio, the General Manager is a great host and Elliott our server was gracious. The Waitstaff team knowledgeable and friendly. Dinner was great and tasty and the experience was wonderful!
One of the great meals of recent times, expensive but worth it. For serious foodies and a special occasion. Truly elevated cuisine, excellent service, lovely place. We loved everything. My only complaint is that the Egyptian music (the menu has an Egyptian tilt) is intrusive, overly loud, and unpleasant. Even the waitstaff said they didn't like it. I know they were striving for an integrated experience but it didn't work.
The food was unique and delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and service top notch.
This was the most expensive meal my husband and I have eaten - tasting menu for 2, wine pairing for 1 - for about $600 before gratuity.
Food was competent, but not the best we've ever had. Servers were fantastic. Ultimately, though, considering the price, and that it wasn't one of our Top 10 dining experiences, I wouldn't advocate that others go.
The Hostess was stunningly beautiful, unfortunately that was the highlight. I had the noon tasting menu with my brother. The two of us ate at 5 Michelin rated restaurants in the San Francisco area in 2 days. The tasting menu is served family style for a lot of it which I really liked we paid extra for the tuna tartar to be added, we had an amazing layout in front of us the waiter described the food..then one dish after another we thought lacked flavor, lacked seasoning, so disappointing since it looked so good. I wish it tasted as good as it looked like at atelier crenn or Manresa ..I wish I got photo taken with that hostess instead of with chef David Kinch at Manresa..I reviewed Michael Mina on another sight and they called to apologize that I was not blown away by the food which is a nice gesture I would like to try them again
Service was outstanding. Environment was excellent as well. 9 out of 10 dishes we had were perfect, with only 1 not as expected. Staff was amazing at all levels.
My first experience in Dining on this level. It won't be my last. The service was impeccable as well as the taste of the food.
Extraordinarily expensive for what was provided. Quality of food was good. We asked for advice on a circa $100 bottle of wine and the server acted offended. When sommelier came over (15 mins later after second ask) he kept guiding us to $250 bottles that were typically 4.0-4.2 level on Vivino. Ended up with an $80 half bottle. Prix fixe menu was $165 but several items had $25 up charges per course. Vegetarian prix fixe for my wife was $135 for essentially vegetables on a skewer. Total bill for two with 1/2 bottle of wine over $500. If you care about value for money this is not a good option.
My wife and I attended Michael Mina to celebrate a major milestone in business for her. The meal was excellent and quite possibly the best lunch we’ve both had in San Francisco.
Exceedingly lovely restaurant, wonderful food, overwhelming service. Max. expensive and intimidating at first. If you are able to overlook all the over-the-top descriptions of the food and focus on the main ingredient it's much easier to pick out what you want. The by-the-glass wine list is also very over-the-top price wise.
I was surrounded by various aged 'millennial' couples and, so, was completely 'invisible'. And, they had no difficulty ordering all the extremely high priced extras! Most were ultra casually dressed, no jewelry, expensive but minimalist dresses so, being 'elder' and not a San Franciscan, I was overdressed and felt uncomfortable. These are just FYI observations.
For quite awhile, there was a loud, younger, group at the bar that was intrusive. It's a smallish restaurant so that sort of thing is impossible to ignore. My husband would have hated it! (again, just an FYI)
Excellent dinner experience.
A sophisticated venue with excellent ingredients merged without much talent. Wagyu beef was excellent. Lobster tails overcooked and chewy. The morel in that course was dissonant and bitter. It detracted from the very good sauce. The caviar was nearly without taste. Overall portions a bit too large for the sum of the food. Hire a gifted sou chef please.
We had a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner there. The service was phenomenal. The food was excellent. Even though it is a big restaurant it never was noisy or felt crowded.

The pre-set, price fixed V-Day tasting menu dinner was ONLY ALLOWED and consisted of 6 very small but very yummy courses, about $100. more per person than their regular already expensive tasting menu on other days. It appears that most nicer restaurants do the same, gouge the customer as much as possible. Oh well, this is SF & America...
Oh by the way, is Mr. Mina even there on one of his busiest days?...NOPE. We asked. He starts restaurants, then disappears. Hopefully this one, his FIRST, will survive the worsening times! Jardiniere just closed, next comes La Folie in a few days, next I hear comes famous Boulevard ! Times are changing...fancy is out, casual is in.
Great restaurant, food, service and ambience.
flavorless food. other than the first amuse and the bread are the best of the lot. Sommelier doesn’t seem to know too much about the wines or the regions., didn’t know how to uncork a wine bottle with us drinking powdered cork with wine . staff is not too knowledgeable about the food. when we asked how the lamb is cooked., ‘deliciously ‘ was the answer., my wife asked what mochi is when the guy who brought in food presented it and he said he will need to find out ! . this place changed a lot from the time we tried it first about 3 years back., and not for better. Palette cleanser following the main course would have been excellent if not for the fact they mixed mochi into this giving it a weird gummy texture., again mochi is good when used properly and not sure what mochi had to do with mediterranean.
We go to Michael Mina's every year for our anniversary or a birthday. It's a wonderful restaurant and great balance of high class and approachable. They are also very accommodating with dietary restrictions, they handled pescetarian and vegan restrictions with no problems!
The meal was not paced properly. Courses were being served before the prior course was finished. This happened twice during the meal even after providing feed after the first incident. Restaurant of this stature this is totally unacceptable. The lobster course, one of the miss timed courses, when served correctly came back tough. I question whether the lobster was held while waiting for us to finish the prior course. While the staff was very apologetic it should never have happened. We will not return.

Lunch with my daughter. Delicious food, reasonable for the quality, grew experience.
My wife and I returned to Michael Mina due to the change back from the Middle Eastern menu period we did not enjoy. Every thing was very nice, but my lobster was tough and my steak was too chewy. We never had a bad meal at Bourbon Steak San Francisco or Bourbon Steak Orange County.
The dining experience was excellent. And to top it all off, we met Chef Michael in person at our table and be able to have a conversation with him. It was a little bit loud during dinner. I would love to try this restaurant again in the future knowing what to expect next time around.

Fair enough it is quite a pricey endeavor but then it is an amazing experience as well.
Whenever I leave Michael Mina’s restaurant, I am happy, uplifted and think about the wonderful experience for days
