Very pleasant restaurant. It's a large space, but they've managed to make it intimate with low lighting. Food is excellent and service impeccable!
As a restaurant location and venue they knocked it out of the park. Location is great, atmosphere was great. But something was off. Michelin star... check, classy venue... check, busy kitchen... check. Then why was the restaurant half empty on a Saturday Night at 9pm. We had to finish our meal to find out. The food just wasn't that great. Certainly not worth the price on the bill that landed on the table. Honestly, Chez Maman at the end of Gough St is a much much better french restaurant experience.
We have been here over 5 times and used to love. Meal was sub par, the veal dish was bad, needs to be changed. Veal w white sauce? Bring back the baked chicken.
Food remains top notch and our server was excellent. It’s been about a year since our last visit and we were disappointed that a couple of our favorites, Arctic char and sweetbreads, had disappeared from the menu. However items we ordered, especially stuffed flounder, were outstanding.
I think I had high expectations due to the Michelin stickers out front. It's a nice restaurant but nothing extraordinary.
Great original cuisine, excellent cocktails.
Service was attentive and professional.
Dessert was outstanding.
We had our 4 year anniversary there, fantastic service, fantastic food. : )
Loved our experience here. We were greeted with friendly, knowledgeable staff. They helped us curate the perfect meal for us. We were even given a hand written card that wished us a happy anniversary. Wonderful experience, will be back!
Always a great place to go when friends & families are in town. Everything is so tasty, like always.
Very good food and service, but way overpriced. A $38 fish entree did not include a vegetable side dish.
wonderful food, very good service, the atmosphere is a little hard and hip...but great drinks and fun dinner!
Great dining experience from cocktail (classic Old Fashioned) to dessert, divine Paris Brest! Relaxed meal with plenty of time to spare for the symphony.
Cozy and edgy with great ambience and a comfortable feel. Well put together yet easy to read uncomplicated menu with a few simple dishes, desserts and appetizers. Food is well seasoned, perfectly cooked and well presented in a simple yet elegant basic style where the main attraction is the food itself. No tip restaurant (no option to tip) with a 20% add on for a living wage for employees so what's not to appreciate and support. Well tended bar with a solid wine and aperitif list. Eat at the bar to add to the experience. Service was good but not great...maybe a little more personalization and personality. Otherwise a home run!
Always consistently excellent food. Prices seem to have gone up recently.
I typically like this place, but the appetizers and main course were served lukewarm. Yikes
We love Monsieur Benjamin! Beautiful restaurant with interesting food and wonderful ambiance. Always happy with our experience there.
service very slow , 2 fish courses overcooked the sauce very thick and tasteless
It was our first time here after being recommended by my boss. And wow. So good! Our server was great, I wish I had gotten her name, she asked if we were going to a show when we sat down so she could adjust timing accordingly. And omg the food was so good! We got the steak tartare, it was fatty but I liked it. Made it easy to spread on the ships. Onion soup was amazing and we had the stuffed quail and it was the best I’ve had. Overall it was really fantastic and definitely will be back.
The food was okay and service was okay too. Not sure what occasion this place would be for - judging my the quality of food and service and the ambiance I would say casual dining. However the prices are steep. I wouldn’t peg it as a special occasion place. Perhaps a business dinner when one can expense it and is less worried about the value they are getting
New Years Eve. Food was good. But there were too many “misses”. Despite many open tables for two, we were seated way in the back by the kitchen and staff service area. Our waiter was aloof, didn’t explain the menu options and acted like we were “troubling” him by clarifying the menu. He was no help w drinks, and never apologized for sending our cocktails to the next table- Which we graciously accepted anyway. I think our waiter should find something else to do as he clearly didn’t want to be there. Food kept coming at a the pace of the kitchen and not the customer...and we felt rushed to finish a plate as the next one was coming “ready or NOT”...Appetizers would come out and our wine 10 min later. Main entree would come out and we would have to ask where our dinner wine was...a shame a restaurant w good food can’t quite get it right...
fantastic experience on new year’s eve!!
I had reservations for New Year’s Eve. After a mix up with our reservation, the staff got its act together and worked hard to make up for the seating disaster. The real problem with this restaurant was the food itself. It’s absolutely devoid of taste. The first course, pumpkin soup, was nothing to write home about and it was downhill from there. The brioche, a treat I love, was nothing other than a slightly rough textured white bread baked in a brioche mold. I would’ve expected better from Denny’s and spent a helluva lot less.
Went there on New Year’s Eve before a show. They had a price fixed menu that was very good. Service good although they didn’t ask us if we want anything else after dessert and just dropped off the receipt. They add 20% and it appears to be a tip. However the wait person awkwardly indicated you can also add tip but there was no place on bill to do so. Clearer policy would be helpful.
We enjoyed the meal and would go back if seeing a show in the area again.
New Year’s Eve. Some good appetizers, but otherwise nothing special for this pre fixe special dinner. Servers pleasant, but service so so. Never got my coffee. The place was not very busy. Perhaps the word is out. Time to move on, I think.
Lucky with Parking
Great spot by the window
Dessert was too sweet too complicated
Deviled eggs were amazingly was croquets
Valet parking would be nice
Enjoyed the meal and the service was very good. Suggest serving (2) brioche with Brie appetizer. One isn’t enough.
Perfect early dining for performing arts events !
As always, food is reliably delicious in this restaurant. Servers were attentive and not condescending. My only complaint is that we can an hour early and asked if we could be seated already, as we saw there were many empty tables for two. Not sure if the maitre d’ was new but he said our table wasn’t ready but there was a space for us in the bar. As we did not mind sitting in the bar, we took the two available spots. During our whole time there, there were at least four tables for two that were empty.
Dinner before the Nutcracker! Wonderful and great service. Fantastic restaurant.
Good food, great specialty French cuisine but don’t come hungry ! Even the bread is priced .
Most annoying part is 20% automatic service charge ( regardless of service quality ) which de incentives the servers to help clients feel welcomed .
Amazing spot for brunch! We were after the nutcracker rush which was nice, keep this in mind if you’re booking for brunch, it’s clearly a great pre show spot, which make it busy. We had a lovely waitress too, who gave us great recommendations!! Thank you!!
Over expensive. The waier was snobbish - Not al all what I would expect for the very high prices.
We were seated at the very back of the restaurant despite my request for a romantic table. The service was inconsistent and we frequently had to wait and try to flag down waiters to order drinks, get silverware, order food. Despite this mediocre and lacking service, we were charged an automatic 20% fee for a tip. It seems this automatic 20% fee might be making the servers complacent and not very interested taking care of guests. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with the service on this visit unfortunately.
Nutcracker brunch all fabulous! My mew go to SF bistro.
Food is delicious, service wonderful. We will be back!
I used to love this restaurant, I no longer do. Our server was incredibly rude and condescending, to the point that we all sat in shock with her behavior. We lasted the meal, I told the manager about the experience and she explained that she’s new. I’d like to say I’d give the restaurant another go but I’m not going to. MB adds 20% onto the bill automatically, if that’s the standard and you get bad service then trust goes out the window. Especially with no offer of how to make up for the bad experience. Sort it out MB, really.
The food was not worth the price. Everything was just average and you can make it at home. I expected something to WOW me but nothing did. The service is auto gratuity of 20%. Our server was never around sooo???? Why am I paying 20% if I can’t even find my server. I would not recommend to come to this place. There are so much better places such as RICH TABLE down the block. Please don’t come here
Paying a lot for not much food. Barely 3-star quality food compared to nyc. Veal dish was ridiculously fatty and generally basic / unimpressive. Won’t be going back
They are the best! It always feels like family when we dine at their restaurant!
