We went for brunch. Overall delicious. The Chinese broccoli dish was tasty. It too salty, otherwise great. My ids lived the congee and udon. Great service
Server forgot a dish- he remembered after all other dishes had been served asking if we had ordered anything else... then we impatiently waited about 20 mins for the last dish that was clearly forgotten. Food was good.
Food and service were both great. They were accommodating with my same-day reservation change. Would highly recommend!
Thoroughly enjoyed brunch there. Fried rice is great, boat noodles were phenomenal. Great atmosphere.
The food was fantastic. We loved almost every dish we had - favorites were the scallops and noodles. We had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation, and there isn't a good place to wait. The bar is tiny and seats are reserved, so you stand pretty cramped in the restaurant. We don't love communal dining normally, but this wasn't too bad and we had the table to ourselves most of the time.
It took forever to get our food
This place is amazing! My wife and I used to live in Chicago and the first time we went was 2014. We made a trip back to Chicago this past weekend and wanted to visit our old stomping grounds. Mott Street has only gotten better and I can't recommend it enough!
Very yummy burger and eggplant
We didn’t know it was more like a shared plates menu before we arrived, but it worked out well for our two person party. Just know that the menu is broken into small, medium, and large plates and served more tapas style— not necessarily by appetizers or entrees. Food was amazing though, especially recommend the scallops.
Our server was so thoughtful and careful with my severe shellfish allergy. I am appreciative and grateful! Thank you for a great time!
Our waiter was great, food was all excellent. There for a birthday and their extra little touches made it special
So glad we finally tried this place! Everything was great and we can’t wait to go back. Yes it’s small so getting a reservation can be tough. We actually had a reservation for 9:45 the same day which we’d booked days earlier because it was the soonest we could get in, but they do have walk in availability. On the day of we’re were starving and decided to stop by earlier (around 8:00.) The wait for a table was 45 mins, but bar was open immediately and serves the full menu (plus their amazing burger which is ONLY available at the bar.) We sat there and got before our reservation time.
We had an amazing time! Joel never disappoints! One of the best restaurants in Chicago with the most knowledgeable staff and most fun environment!!
Came for brunch. Good sized portions and ambiance. For brunch would recommend sharing the coconut pancakes. I ordered the kimchi fried rice, it wasn't that good but I tried others' dishes and they had tons of flavor/textures.
Would come again to try dinner and their outside patio in the summer
Excellent drinks and good food. Perfect for a relaxed date or dinner with friends.
Wow just wow. After a long day at the conference, my colleague found this restaurant with “Asian” feel for me. This place exceeded our expectations both for myself (who is foodie, prefers Asian/seafood) and for my friend who doesn’t think so special about food. So good~ we will definitely return when we come back to Chicago. Missing udon especially for me!
Favorfull food that was unique and different. So tasty and delicious. The burger was amazing. Dreamt about the food the entire next day too
Had a friend in from out of town. She loved it. We managed to get a good variety.
The waitress was amazing and she had excellent suggestions! The food and drinks were really good. We will be returning!
Amazing food. Everything had a unique taste. Can’t go wrong with any dish.
Our apps not so amazing, Szechuan shrimp, best part of that was the onion rings and the, imperial rolls pretty bland and dry....kimchi udon yumm, husbands dish pretty ok.
Mott St. has elevated Asian cuisine with dishes that are tasty and interesting. Great for sharing plates with the table.
Very high quality, inventive modern Chinese food. Everything was most delicious! Service was helpful and attentive but non-invasive. Will go back soon.
We have eaten there several times and my wife and I agree that it is one of our top 3 restaurants in the city. Food is always excellent and very well thought out. Service is impeccable without being overbearing. Restaurant is nice, but not stuffy. Genuinely you guys have knocked it out of the park. Please stay open forever.
Amazing service! Great food!
Service was bad, food was poorly timed and not as good as it has been in the past. Great patio and easy location.
Great food choices, lots of interesting flavors and lovely taste. Relatively large portions, also for the dishes marked as ‘small’ so you don’t need as many of them as they recommend.
Not the best food or Service. They brought entrée's 15 minutes apart, and the food wad $20 for just a ton of rice and very little of anything else. The flavors were not very strong, and the tables were so close together. The restaurant was half empty and they sat us in tight quarters when there was plenty of open seating.
Just not a great experience for brunch. Maybe another meal is better. Honestly had high hoped for this place since the reviews are all positive. My boyfriend and I actually went home and ordered chipotle.
Everything was great, except we sat outside and the staff didn't seem prepared to assign those tables to anyone. We were there for 2 hours, for brunch, for 2 people, and were most definitely not the only people sitting outside, so the service could have been a bit better.
The waiter was great! The food was solid and the restaurant itself was very clean and had a great vibe
The food was amazing, the service was was wonderful and we left completely stuffed and satisfied. Will be back very soon. Believe the hype about the burger.
Food out to fast , to crowed and to loud
Food used to be good, but now it's pretty awful. Kimchi mentaiko udon was good, but noodles were overcooked. The cod was good, but ridiculously overpriced for the tiny serving. The clay fish dish was so sweet it was inedible. All 6 of us were unable to eat it. I think there may have been a mistake and someone included way too much sugar but when we asked about it the waiter he seemed pretty ambivalent so we left it relatively untouched. Fried rice was way too garlicky (and I love garlic). Sisig could have been decent if it wasn't so salty. The burger at the bar only rule is inconvenient and frustrating, especially we saw someone that was served a burger at their table but our waiter refused to serve us at our table. Have been to Mott several times and it was one of my favorites. Last time I came, food was ok, and this time, very disappointing. So my friends and I will not be returning and I will discourage my other friends and colleagues from going.
Great spot for my birthday dinner!
No gluten free bun for burgers.
Mott St. always lives up to the hype with incredibly tasty food and drink. However, I always question the portion sizing with my $100+ bill for two — even worse when we both leave hungry.
Amazing unique food and the cutest outdoor decorations. Will definitely be back!
Joanna was our server and made this meal EXCEPTIONAL. She surprised us with a catfish claypot and this entree honestly made the entire meal! They have funky, yet delicious cocktails. If you can, try to get a seat outside and enjoy the meal on their patio.
What a charming bustling place for a fun date night!
