Muddy Rudder Yarmouth
Food always excellent Rozzy is always a pleasure. The only disappointment was they no longer give bread was looking forward to the bread with the sweet butter
Always friendly service. Food is delicious. Relaxing ambiance. My must-stop Maine stop for a peaceful and enjoyable dinner!
Fantastic place to eat. The staff was amazing and the food had us cleaning our plates.
Wonderful ambiance, excellent food and Rozzy delivers the best service each and every time.
We had reservations but still had to wait for our table, so that was a bit disappointing.
Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. The meal was good, but we have had better there in the past.
Cocktails were good.
My wife was very pleased with her meal. Mine could have been better. I had the fisherman's platter and the clams were overcooked.
Small portion for steak tips. Food and desserts were lukewarm. No bread or water served. Napkin had holes in it. Service on the slow side. It was better years ago.
Customer 20+ years. Not what used to be. Supplemental sheet advisory about new inflated prices. Owners don’t even produce new menus. Legendary rolls no more. Waitstaff said management trying to save on butter. Rolls could be an option for couple bucks. Then they could sell the butter pats on an each piece basis.
Great food - great server, friendly staff and nice ambience.
I thought this was at best a step above fast food and service was slow. The lobster roll did not compare to what I had at J’s in Portland.
Our experience was very good but we were disappointed that our baked stuffed lobsters were not properly cleaned out with the green inner belly area contaminating the delicious stuffing. This was after asking our server to make sure proper cleaning was done. Service was great and the view from our table very nice. Prices were as expected when compared to other places in the area.
This was our first time at the Muddy Rudder. It was a quaint restaurant with a full bar, dining area, outdoor seating and event room. Waitress was friendly and experienced. Large portions. Food was delicious. My husband ordered fish n chips and I had steak tips. This is primarily seafood with a handful of other entrees. Full wine and drink menu. Reasonably priced for portions and types of food. Highly recommend.
We have been going there for years when we are in the area and have never had a bad experience.
Your restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and we were not disappointed. Your staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely visit you again
I was disappointed I hadn't been there in years the place looks a little rundown dirty carpets, door look like it needed to be painted, yeah the view is great by the water, staff was wonderful. food was okay but...I don't know, I was very disappointed, but its been a while since I've been there
Good food- haddock was done nicely and clam chowder was delicious.
Piano player was great but a little loud as we need to raise our voices to hear each other at dinner.
Waitress was quick and efficient.
We met some friends we had not seen for 60 years. Our server was super and understanding and was perfect in every way. Lobster bisque fantastic - whole belly clams, lobster roll and Mac and cheese superb!
Lacked some finesse like napkin under drink silverware dingy. Food very good. At 6 out of special. Service adequate.
Best place in Freeport / Yarmouth. We went back three times in a week, once with large group (22) and twice with small group (4 and 6); it was equally enjoyable each visit. Large menu so even on returning there were plenty of great selections. Wonderful service; great piano player; very accommodating of children.
Service was really good, food was delicious and ambience was very relaxing which is what we were looking for.
The food was delicious. The portions were perfect. Had room for dessert. We tried sitting outside but the road noise was so loud you couldn’t talk. Inside was a bit less noisy, but the tables are close and everyone was shouting over the din, which made it very loud.
Outdoor brunch on Labor Day weekend...so romantic. Stellar Bloody Mary and unbelievable lobster Benedict. Cannot wait for my next trip to Maine so we can do it again.
Love the atmosphere and views! Service is always wonderful. Order baked stuffed haddock, cooked pefectly. My husband's steak was a bit fatty though. Scotch eggs were very tasty! I come to the Rudder a few times per year and have always been pleased. Was a really nice night out!
Felt like a time warp in there . Nice view of highway unless you sit further in by window . Food unimaginative and overpriced . My haddock has gloopy boring sauce and my salad seemed tired and out of a bag?
We went there for our wedding anniversary because we always wanted to try it. Had the fisherman’s platter. Only got 3 scallops in it and the fish was mush. Probably the worst haddock I’ve ever had. The fried clams were some of the best ever which is what got it up to 3 stars. There is a lot better seafood places around that are more reasonably priced. All in all I’d give it average grade strictly because the clams were delish.
We stopped here on vacation on the way to Freeport - easy access on Route 1 near the expressway. The building is a nice older building with newer additions with a nice view out to the river marsh. We were surprised that they had live piano music which made it feel like eating at an upscale resort, but without the pretense. Our food was very good, including a delicious Maine blueberry pie dessert! Many good options on the menu and seating is available inside and outside with the pleasant view over the marsh - overall a nice introduction to Maine.
Lovely seating outdoors, delicious food, professional service
Food was borderline inedible. No rose wine (hottest wine out there!) oysters were old and filled with dirt and shells. At $3 each (NYC prices) it’s unacceptable. Never again.
Overall experience was very good. Food was delicious and service excellent. Restaurant was very cold! Piano music was awesome!
This restaurant is a reliable standby for our family.
The food is always delicious, the prices are reasonable.
There are many gluten free options for family members that need that.
The staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. On occasion though the kitchen can be slow. However,we take advantage of that to enjoy each other ‘s company.
On a warm summer day, the deck is a great place to dine while taking in the view.
We will continue to support this restaurant.
It was so loud with the piano playing.
It’s a nice place , service was a little slow, the server seemed a little anxious and distracted and I didn’t feel comfortable asking her for anything .
The best part of the meal was the fried clam appetizer. The drinks were vastly overpriced eg $12 for a monitor. The entrees were so so. My partner’s fresh halibut (a special) was over cooked. My trout had a lot of stuffing that was under seasoned. Would go back only for the clams that were excellent. For the prices, for really great seafood, I will go to Portland
Great food, great river views. Would definitely recommend
The late Sunday afternoon view was lovely as usual. It was nice to have the full menu available though it was still the brunch menu time. The appetizer potsticker portion was ample enough to share and was delightfully spicy. However, the mussels in wine sauce with chorizo were a bit of a disappointment. While the sauce was fully flavorful, the mussels themselves were not plump, but rather small and lost in the shell.
It was a hot day so we elected to eat outside overlooking the marsh. After we were seated for a bit we noticed that it was on the cool side being in the shade and with the wind. However, it was no cooler than inside. We couldn't hear the piano, but we did not have any noise to distract us from talking. Inside with the piano might have been loud depending on where you were seated. From what we heard the piano player was excellent. The food was better than expected. There were some minor issues with the food that was overshadowed by some very good parts. For example, one of us had the baked fish. The fish itself as a little dry, but the rest of the meal was very good with wonderful baked carrots. Another one of us had the seared scallops which was excellent except for the included edamame in the sauce. The deserts were excellent. Although we did not have wine, they had a reasonable wine list available. All in all we will probably go back to try the brunch at some time. We would recommend the restaurant to others.
This is a very good option if you can't find a place to eat in Portland (or don't want to wait 2 hours). It was recommended to us by a local & worked well for us. On the water - some outside dining . One of the entrees we ordered did not come out with the rest of the food & the manager brought that person a complimentary lobster bisque. A very nice gesture. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food - while not gourmet it was certainly worth the price - making it a good value
Beautiful spot and dishes not offered anywhere else. Game sampler and monkfish stew were excellent. A little short staffed but we were well attended to.
Good food, reasonable prices, good for families, on our way home from Portland.
The lobster rolls were great. Waitress could have had more of a personality. Piano music was great. We really enjoyed that. We have been many times and will be back.
Best dinner we had during our stay in Yarmouth. We had appetizers through dessert, and all was lovely. Thank you!
