With the COVID restoriction, we were uncertain and a little apprehensive what the experience would be like, but Naschmarkt's neighbors have kindly allowed them to place tables in front of their businesses, so there's plenty of safe social-distanced seating.
Our waiter was awesome. He started by asking what kind of cocktails my wife enjoyed, and suggested one of their specialties, which she didn't trust. But I ordered it, and it was great. She also tasted it, and agreed. When our waiter returned to ask how we were enjoying the cocktails, he asked my wife if she had tasted mine. She sheepishly had to admit she liked it, and from that point on we took everyone of his recommendations.
And they were all great! Starting with the seared scallops appetizer. For dinner, I enjoyed the wiener schnitzel, and my wife loved her pork schnitzel. THe wines our waiter suggested complemented the food very well - an Austrian white and a California Pinot Noir. They also brought a very nice dessert to celebrate my birthday.
We can't wait to go back. I want to try the goulash and the beef stroganoff.
Absolutely fantastic meal, everyone in our party of six commented that every single dish was wonderful. Cannot recommend this place enough !
Excellent food and service! The atmosphere was a little crazy with the tables being outside and all of the pedestrians walking by but not the fault of the restaurant.
Always a special treat. Can’t wait to go back!!!!!
Delicious, creative menu. Excellent service. The corn soup was very tasty with the kettle corn garnish, how clever! Ambience a little lacking with Covid restrictions but they did a good job under the circumstances! We will return!
Food was excellent; very authentic. Good German and Austrian beer selection. Dined outside on Campbell avenue (Campbell has done well closing the street to allow restaurants to spread out.) Staff was friendly and did a decent job wrt Covid precautions.
Son in law’s birthday
Delicious food. Outdoor seating due to Covid and it was really pleasant. Can’t wait to return.
Delicious European flavors! Every bit was yummy from appetizer to dessert!
Corn soup is wonderful, so strong corn flavor. Sausage trio cook at perfection, crispy outside and juicy inside. Love the spicy sausage (middle). Main courses, somehow is so so for me. Look good but just not amazing. However, desserts are 10 stars. The chocolate cake and soufflé are must order.
We went there on a Sat evening for dinner. The street has been closed and all restaurants have put tables out in the street for dining. The street was completely packed!! While undesirable from a pandemic standpoint, it made for a lively dining experience - with the added bonus of a street musician providing background score!
We were seated at a table on the sidewalk, which was fairly distanced from others. The only nuisance was pedestrians that would brush past us, many of them not wearing masks :-(
Service was excellent, responsive and friendly. We got clean silverware and plates after each course, and they cleaned up the table in between as well.
Food was incredibly flavorful. The spicy bratwurst packed a punch but was bursting with flavors. The spatzle was milder, yet tasty. The pretzel was a disappointment - the bread was dry and crumbly, even though it was partly compensated by the excellent gruyere and speck topping. Classic schnitzel (we got pork, not veal) was light and non-greasy. Accompanying potato salad was also light and savory. We got a side of red cabbage that went well with the meal. Roasted Halibut was flaky, also with great flavor. For dessert, we got the apple strudel, which was warm and juicy. They have an extensive menu of cocktails, wine and beer. We decided to get a few German beers, which were pretty good.
All in all, the food and service were excellent. Portions are right sized, though a bit pricey in some cases. Outdoor dining can be a mixed experience, could've been better. We enjoyed the place and will definitely be back whenever we want to try some German / Austrian food and beer!
Great restaurant. Great food. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a great experience.
We started with a flavorful bottle of cabernet from Paso Robles followed by a sausage appetizer and a salad with goat cheese. Our entrees were goulash and rouladen, both exceptional. The apricot dessert was the final touch. Our waiter was very helpful and steered us in the right direction regarding our orders. Naschmarkt is the place to dine if you enjoy traditional Austrian cuisine.
Amazing food, experience, and service . Loved the smoked chicken spatzle appetizer, beef goulash, and soufflé! Best blueberries soufflé I’ve ever had! Coffee was great too! Served with warm milk on the side . Great service! Waitress was very knowledgeable in her recommendations of dishes and wine. Will definitely go back!
Without doubt the best meal we have had all year. From start to finish every course was perfection. The staff We’re also incredibly attentive.
The food was delicious, especially the corn chowder! They're making the best of a bad situation and serving on the sidewalk, though it would be nice to be back to normal dining. All in all it was and enjoyable evening. Service was a little slow and less attentive than usual. We had to ask for water, bread, and water refills, etc. May have just been an off night.
Delicious as usual. Excellent service. The only small downside was eating on the sidewalk due to COVID restrictions (and I have no issues with those). I’m just very happy to be able to eat there.
It was our first time here. Overall the food and service was very good. The apple strudel we ordered for dessert was stale but the chocolate lava cake was great.
I had the halibut over heirloom tomatoes and my friend had the jager schnitzel. We shared the apfel strudel for dessert. All three dishes were phenomenal! The service was excellent. It's a bit outside our price range for frequent dining but we can't wait for our next visit.
Went on a weeknight, so, with Covid, only sidewalk tables were available. Service was spot on, food was exquisite (especially the dessert souffle), and the sidewalk table was acceptable (except for when the car was parking _right_ there). We will definitely dine here again: one of our favorites.
Tasty food. The desert : Salzburger Nockerl (Fluffy vanilla Soufflé with blueberry compote and Greek yoghurt ice cream) is really good!
Despite coronavirus and record heat, the service and food at Naschmarkt was top-notch. Didn’t miss a beat, and we’ve been coming for many years for our anniversary.
Amazing food once again! Loved our server and the special chicken paprikash! So yummy!
We ordered our desserts and they also came out with a trio of sorbets with a candle in one of them for my birthday!
Also, I must say that our waiter did an excellent job of pouring our white wine! It was a warm evening and we were outside, but he served the wine at just the right intervals so that it was always cold… The way I like it!
The food was excellent! Definitely will come back!
Superbly Executed, great Austrian CA mix. Always great enjoyable meal. Best in South Bay.
Really good quality food and good servicr
Very nice dinner experience despite the current CVD situation. Our server (Bob) was extremely good and did everything possible to ensure we had a good time, got our food served in time etc.
I would definitely recommend Naschmarkt to anyone for a special occasion or just to taste some different and great food. Food is also authentic.
We sat outside with lots of social distancing, and there was live music. Very pleasant evening. Everything we ordered was delicious- jager schnitzel, scallops appetizer, and apfel strudel. I looove spaetzle.
Very good job coping with Covid and having outdoor dining. Our server had excellent recommendations on the menu and the food was delicious! Very meat heavy as Austrian food tends to be.
We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here...they did a good job of setting up a pleasant outside atmosphere due to Covid. The food was outstanding, as usual
Excellent food and service except for one thing. Even though he was wearing latex gloves, the waiter picked up and re-arranged our utensils. Not a good idea. I asked for a fresh set.
We had an excellent dinner with fantastic service. Definitely recommended for a fancy date night or splurge. We sat outside in the middle of the street and felt safe and comfortable. The servers were never far away and they constantly filled our water glasses. It was a lovely experience in the time of COVID-19.
Delicious food, friendly service, and great location. Can’t wait to come back!
Consistently great food and service.
Waiter was wonderful, staff was very friendly, and on point. The food was just ok this time. We have been there before and the food has always been delicious. But this time, it was just not our favorite. We were a bit disappointed, especially for the money we paid. We will try one more time. Thank you.
Food is really great and service is friendly and effective
Really good restaurant and they offer much more than Austrian Food. Great fish options along with traditional dishes.
The waitstaff are amazing. The food are great. My husband started with a salad and I had a watermelon gazpacho and it was delicious. I ordered Jager schnitzel and mushroom cream sauce was amazing. They give you a good portion of the dish. The dessert we ordered was Salzburger Nockerl (Fluffy vanilla soufflé with blueberry compote & vanilla bean ice cream), my husband and I shared the dessert, I wished I ordered two. I would recommend to order this dessert just for yourself and do not share.
Fabulous service. Waiter very friendly and provided excellent wine recommendations. Watermelon gazpacho soup was incredible
Now that Campbell Ave has been closed to cars dining outside was wonderful. The meals were colorful and well presented. Mouth popping flavor in every bite.
