Newagen Seaside Inn
Top-Etiketten:
If you are staying at this somewhat remote seaside inn or in a rental nearby, it is well worth having dinner at this restaurant. The food is good to very good, the service also. The grounds are lovely as it is sited at the tip of a finger of land that reaches our into Boothbay Harbor. Maybe an early light dinner or just drinks to enjoy the view and grounds if you are making the drive from somewhere farther afield.
Thank you for this! The property really does feel remote, even though we are only 5 miles from the center of downtown Boothbay Harbor. So glad you made the drive!
The food was very good and the service was admirable for being busy.
Atmosphere is one of a kind.
Find out for yourselves.

A very disappointing experience
Seated table near a very loud kitchen opening. Could not hear ourselves talk. Therefore we asked to be moved. Retisently they did move us.
The food is very good. But second year now that we dined here and felt the wait staff was not trained properly. He did a great job but was really well versed in courses so when my husband ordered the spicy tuna roll app it came with the meal. By the way my soup came first, I finished it and our other party’s app came next. My husbands never came and finally showed up with the main course.
This time it was better than last year’s service, but please take the time to train. Not their fault. Otherwise a nice meal, settling and nice young man.
My husband and I got married here 3 years ago and have returned to the inn each year for our anniversary. We love our experiences each year and the staff have a lot to do with it! The service, quality and friendliness keep us returning to continue to create wonderful memories!
The dining room and bar look newly renovated. Service was friendly. Food for 4 diners was universally good. Lobster roll, sliders, seafood curry, and grilled shrimp all great. Exceptional tomato bisque. Ended meal talking around fire pit on deck. Great experience.
Only negatives were a few houseflies in dining room and the unlighted entrance to resort when going to car.
Anniversary
The view is amazing as well as the service and friendliness of the staff. Food was really good and not over priced. I will return here!
Delightful lunch menu with many wonderful creative dishes. Cannot beat the view at the end of Southport Island! A classic old seaside family inn, beautifully updated...just spectacular place for a special relaxing lunch with friends.
Food is amazing, service great but noise by to much kids
We were lucky to catch the outstanding sunset. The food was very tasty and nicely presented. We particularly enjoyed our waiter—Trez (sp?), I think. He was friendly and attentive, but not intrusive.
This place is located in the Inn itself which is very convenient if you are staying there. The night we went, it was very busy and I do not think they were expecting it. I believe the service suffered because of it. They did try very hard so an "A" for effort here.
This is our first visit to the inn. Met all expectations. Last week of the season and still a full menu. Mainly an older crowd.
This restaurant is lovely for a special occasion. The staff was very welcoming and the ambiance was perfect. Everything we ordered was delicious and well-prepared. We are looking forward to visiting again....(and wishing we did not live out of state)! Thank you.
We drove 25 minutes for our dinner reservation and upon arrival requested a window seat as the dining room was EMPTY! Request declined "because the tables were reserved"! Hello, we had a reservation but the host did not speak enough English to answer simple questions. Disappointing start to what should have been a quiet relaxing evening. Tables remained empty until near the end of our meal.
If you're under 80 years old, you might want to skip this throw-back from the past. Feels like you're seated in the cafeteria of the old folks home, and I'm in my 60's!
Can't get a meal anyplace more beautiful than this. Restaurant does a nice job of tasty classics and modern standards with excellent service and views that are the quintessential Maine.
Chose Newagen Inn to celebrate our anniversary. Not too far to go and very nice in terms of the seaside location, friendly staff good food and beautiful facilities. Best part is that it is very much off the beaten path in an otherwise very busy tourist area which makes it peaceful and relaxing.
We were served by Ricardo at our seated table, but he was also responsible for taking care of people at the bar. He was inattentive, and so there were many times we would have to ask over and over for a to go box or drink. It took so long for our check to come that I had to get up to go to the bar to get it. It was especially alarming to is because my wife and I had gotten married that day at the inn, and we were still wearing our suit/dress. I would have assumed he would have been more personable, but that was hardly the case. The table next to us said more in congratulations than Ricardo did. In general, it seems the service is very slow, inattentive, and impersonal, but the food is very good. So if you're in the mood to sit and talk for hours with your friends rather than any staff during your meal the place is great. Otherwise, a quick and personal bite seems to be out of the question.
The food was as advertised and good. Cooked well, and delightfully presented. The menu selection left a little to be desired and was uninspired. The service this evening- like other days waiting for drinks at the bar- was abysmal. One dining companion, who ordered a burger, was told it was not cooked correctly the first time. The other three guests finished dinner before his meal arrived. Ordering was slow and the bartenders left a lot to be desired. Everything about this inn is wonderful, it's just a shame the service at the bar and restaurant was so poor.
A delicious meal with a stunning view. Not to be missed.
We really enjoyed our meal and you couldn't beat the view. Staff were good, but the food was amazing.
Reservation was for 8:00 PM so the restaurant was not very busy. It is inside the Inn and the Inn is in the middle of no where so we expected the food and service to be outstanding. It took 2 hours to get our food, after we received our apps. The quality of the food did not reflect the prices. Our server did the best she could but had zero leadership. After waiting on our food for 2 hours, I had to send my crab cakes back. They were so salty, they were not edible. We never saw a manager. It was never addressed.
An extremely pleasant experience in a beautiful surrounding. Food was very, very good and presented beautifully. Would definitely return to this lovely spot.
The service was great, the food was delicious and we loved the entertainment. The view was also spectacular.
Good food at a good value. The acoustics in the dining room, coupled with the frequency of large groups dining and having "lots of fun" make it almost impossible for a couple to converse. A great place to dine with your family or your own large group, just not for conversation or the hearing impaired.
Had a very disappointing dining experience. The service was great, the view was ok but the food was over priced and tasteless.
Good food ( outstanding mussels and lobster bisque) and excellent service from a young and enthusiastic staff make for an enjoyable evening. The only caveat relates to the ambiance. Our dinning area was attractive but quite noisy with stone floors and no sound absorbing materials of any sort which when full with families could be quite noisy. Also, we did not find the chairs to be comfortable for extended sitting and a long leisurely meal. The outdoor dinning would have been better for us if the evening had been warmer. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable meal and we would return again.
Food was nicely prepared, however three of our party commented that the item was not presented as per the menu. I had a Caprese salad, which made no mention of sun-dried tomatoes or pesto, another in our party had Short Ribs, which were advertised being accompanied with carrots. They arrived with watercress and root vegetables.
