I am allergic to wheat and they helped me out. Had a delicious dinner. Get the carrot cake!
Our server was very nice and very good at her job!
They gave us both the menu & the specials menu. I asked our server about one of the specials and she told me that it was fantastic and she highly recommended it. When I ordered it she then had to come back and tell me - and another at my table who also ordered it, that they were out of one part of it - if you don’t have the special then don’t rave about it or even hand out a specials menu with it listed! I had come specifically for the special so to hear that it wasn’t available was really disappointing. And, due to COVID, they have a limited menu which doesn’t have ANY of my Joe’s usuals on it so I ended up not having dinner. I simply sat there while the others at my table ate.
When the bill came we put down the cash to pay for it. When our server came by to pick up the bill she told us that they were not accepting cash right now. I told her that in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts a restaurant has to, by law, accept cash and she told me that they are aware of that but they still weren’t going to take the cash anyway. WTF Joe’s? You are admitting that you know you have to accept cash and then saying in the same breath that you will not take cash. I don’t know what you’re thinking or why you’re operating a restaurant this way but you certainly aren’t going to keep customers by doing this. Our server even told us that they had had many customers mad about it but they still weren’t going to change.
As we were leaving I noted that I didn’t see anyone else so I asked the hostess if we were the last ones there? She replied that yes, & they were going to lock the door behind us. I pointed out that it was just about 8 PM & the sign on the door said that they closed at 9 PM. She said she knew but that they were closing at 8:00 these days. She then told me that they had a reservation for 8:00 that night & that when that group showed up she would have to let them know they were closed. So why allow the reservation?
It is a conveniently located restaurant with a nice seasonal menu.
Very up to latest covid. cleaning and spacing. Food was excellent the waitress friendly.
Just an all around nice late lunch,
Not the waitresses fault , but very slow to serve us our meal. We see told a lot of take out orders were the reaaon
NYAJ is a great place to go. They take care in their presentations. There was a good variety of items to choose from (even during the pandemic).
Food was tasty and a fair amount. I got the Chick/shrimp stirfry dish with the brown rice. It had a really good brown sauce on it and could taste some fresh ginger in it. Delightful! My mother had the Chickjen Caprese panini. Also very good and she took half home. We didn't have to wait long for it despite Covid 19 restrictions in place. They normally automatically bring out focaccia bread and oil with seasonings to customers at the start of a meal. We didn't get any even though other customers around us received it so I had to request it. Our server seemed preoccupied or just didn't want to be there maybe? That's my only reason for giving 3 stars on service.
Food was well below expectations in comparison to other NYAJ locations.
We were early, 6 PM. The place was almost empty. I guess the virus is keeping people away. Service was great, food was great.
Not Your Average Joes is always good as usual. I recommend any time of day.
Sadly, this was not the Nyaj we are used to. Our favorite items are off the menu and the prices are sky high. $100 for 2 adults and 1 child with no appetizers or dessert seems over the top. We won’t be going back unless things change. The food quality and service were average at best.
Table & chairs wet when we were seated. We dried them ourselves. Hostess was extremely unfriendly. Menu has been cut down so our favorites are no longer there. We were rushed out of there. Told it was last call to get desserts when we just got dinner. Noted in reservation we were there for a bday celebration & it was never mentioned. Won’t be going back.
We go to Acton NYAJ’s usually once a week. Food and service are always top notch.
Limited menu due to covid -19, food appeared precooked and overcooked before and was on a colder side . Extremely limited food choices . Not sure why but I think dining room decor was also limited . Probably will not go again unless their menu expands significantly. We love bread and dip but not as a meal replacement .
Sat in Bar area. Superb service.
Made the reservation, but it wasn't needed, the restaurant was mostly empty. But a very nice inside lunch date with my wife.
The service was excellent. They are set up very well for serving customers and social distancing tables appropriately. The food was very good. We had an enjoyable dinner.
Server and kitchen staff not following Covid precautions
Great food, great service, yummy drinks. Didn’t check the menu before I booked. Was a bit shocked to see how much they cut out. But we liked our meals.
Overall we had another great experience. This was only our 2nd time out to a restaurant since the pandemic started. We booked the reservation as normally there can be a wait. No wait at all. Got seated immediately and waiter helped immediately. Everyone we could see wore masks. Plenty of space between tables. We felt very safe.
As for for the food it was really good. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals. Our boys got their usual pizza and loved the fries. I got the lobster roll and it was one of the best I have ever had. Perfectly buttered and grilled roll, and the lemon aoli the lobster was in was great.
Only complaint would be they didn't offer us extra bread after the first basket, but that is a minor complaint. We are looking forward to going back again soon.
Our waiter was great, very attentive. My food at least was not satisfactory. I had the margarita pizza that was under cooked in the middle and greasy. Our appetizer the steak eggs rolls were so delicious and fried perfectly. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his food. The restaurant was extremely clean and followed all Covid regulations and had some their own guidelines. I would recommend Not Your Average Joe’s just not the under cooked greasy pizza.
Awesome service,. Food was great arrived quickly.
Went for a traditional St. Patty’s Day dinner and was not disappointed.the menu had Irish Stew, Corned Beef and Cabbage and a Reuben Sandwich. Sizeable portions and very good service.
Good food, good service. Quiet. Menu had lots of variety and additional specials for St. Patrick’s Day.
Food was good, service was horrible. We sat there for 30 minutes after we were done eating before the server came over. We turned it into a game “How long will it be?!?”. She never asked us how we were doing, never offered refills on our drinks. We love NYAJ’s but we will never return to this location.
Salmon was a thin filet, not what I expected. They were jammed when we arrived. So, we ate in the bar area which was pretty noisy. Service was good, but slow.
We are regulars at NYAJs and love the service (especially a few servers we have gotten to know), the value of the delicious and varied menu items and the cost, the flexibility of the kitchen/chefs to change a few things, and the general "community eatery" feel of the restaurant. It's a wonderful place for singles, couples, groups, families and celebrations of all kinds!!!
Food was good. Service was excellent. The noise level was over the top. Lots of families with young children during vacation week at lunch. I'll be back, but not during vacation week.
we always enjoy our dinners here. It is a great family spot with a friendly staff and yummy food.
Dependable, consistent spot. Good variety on the menu with something for everyone. We have been enjoying this restaurant for years.
I’ve been coming to NYAJ for years (though I haven’t been in a while) and this is the first time I’ve been let down. Our appetizer of ahi tuna wontons was good, but both of our entrees we disappointments. The burger was adequate at best, with toppings and a bun more appropriate to a quick service restaurant than an upscale casual place. The shoestring fries were great, but I definitely would not order the burger again. The surf and turf (special) was so bad we couldn’t eat it. The steak was bland and dry, and the lobster ravioli contained large, hard bits of shell or cartilage. In addition, the bernaise sauce arrived cold and lumpy. A replacement sauce contained many small, white strings similar to tiny fish bones. We were told this was tarragon, but it bore little resemblance to it. All together, we ate roughly 2/3 of one entree and nothing of the other. The service was friendly, though the staff seemed overwhelmed. We observed several other tables requesting managers due to bad food, so we don’t think our experience was unique. It’s unlikely we’ll be returning.
Food was fantastic but our server was even better. She was super engaging and extremely helpful.
We always have a good meal at Not Your Average Joe's, so we took a friend for her birthday. It was just what we wanted. We all enjoyed grain bowls, which were so bountiful that we had enough for lunch the next day.
Love our server. She was right there and was always pleased to serve us.
As always, NYAJ delivered with delicious food, great service and easy reservation process. We'll be back soon!
Waiter had an attitude. Restaurant seemed tired & not clean. Won’t go again.
Other than the bread which is always the best, the food choices are tired and limited. The only appealing appetizer on the menu contained cilantro, to which I am allergic. My friend’s jambalaya cakes with a huge amount of rice in the middle and a small amount of jambalaya around it.
The service, however, was excellent.
Overall a good go to place. Server was a bit rough around the edges.
Our group of 12 had a great meal at NYAJ. Our server was great and our food was prepared very quickly and was delicious. The menu offered good choices for meat eaters and vegetarians in our party. We will come again.
The food and presentation was excellent xxxxxxxxxx
