Great experience. The food was terrific and the service was friendly and efficient. The wine list is a little pricey and the selection is somewhat limited, so you may have a tough price/quality decision to make.
We celebrated our anniversary with Octavia. Such a delight! The deviled eggs stole the show (soft boiled perfectly with a palate pleasing array or spices) we always love the bread and butter too. Both went really well flavor wise with the pickles (the romanesco and radish were my personal fav)! The beet salad was phenom (such yummy fresh beets that paired so well with the citrus and goat cheese) as well as the tagliatelle and the risotto with added truffles. The blonde ale went really well with all the flavors! We finished with the angel cake seared in brown butter- delicious! Service is always wonderful and the ambiance is cozy, warm-lit and festive (great music).
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary at Octavia and it was perfect. The food was delicious and the service was great
We love our dinner at Octavia-our very favorite place to be!!!
Horrible, inattentive service - will never return or recommend.
Octavia is my go-to place whenever I come to SF. If you are into an 'all you can eat' restaurant, don't come. If you are looking for quality at the tip of every fork, then yea.
We really really LOVE each and every time we dine at Octavia....which is weekly :) xo The Barkers
The food was outstanding! It was innovative and delicious. Our only issue was the noise which made it a bit difficult to hear.
OVERPRICED AND UNDERWHELMING . . . My wife and I happened to walk past Octavia late one afternoon. They were just getting set for dinner. There were romantic candles on all the tables and it looked charming. We read the menu - which looked interesting, so we made a reservation for that evening. Our server, Kim, was wonderful. Beyond that there isn't much positive I can say. I don't mind spending $250 for dinner for two for a special occasion. But the food had better be memorable. It wasn't. It will be remembered for it's pretentiousness and excessive "innovation" - with a lot of loopy uncommon flavors that don't belong together and didn't enhance the dishes. The noise level borders on deafening, and the lighting - though "romantic" - is not sufficient to allow diners to read the incredibly tiny print on the menus. The restaurant would have been much more reasonable if it was half the price. But we still wouldn't return.
Our table was ready early and our experience was excellent food staff and wine all great and served with an enthusiasm that you want to have when dining out. Overall a great experience from start to finish. Just wish they had a full liquor license. For now the Negronis will do.
Had the prix fixed menu. We were presented with about 10 or more dishes served family style. Deviled eggs are not what you might expected. It was not a stuffed deviled egg, but a soft boiled egg with a spicy sauce. This was our least favorite dish. The pasta was excellent as was the super fresh salad. The entree of beef tenderloin was seasoned and cooked perfectly as was the salmon. The desserts were light and refreshing. It’s a small restaurant and tables are very close together. Service was definitely 5 star!
We love our Sunday evenings at Octavia, everything about our experience there is over the moon enjoyable....we love you all at Octavia just like family...xo the barkers
The food from the tasting menu was god-like. This has got to be one of the best restaurants in Bay Area. Price is a little bit on the expensive side but it is definitely worth the try.
The service and food was outstanding. I will definitely go back.
Had a friend visiting from New York and she was blown away!
Great service, wonderful food. Will definitely come back!! The pork was amazing and the cheesecake was delicious
It was our third NYE dinner at Octavia and it was the sweetest funnest most delicious evening to date!! Highlight for us are the wonderful people there, all of them are amazing!!!!
Friendly and polite staffs, superb meals, and reasonable cost. Good for any occasions.
Amazing food! Highly recommend this restaurant.
Fabulous Christmas eve prix-fixe dinner! Delicious food and lovely ambiance.
I think it was well overpriced for what we’ve got. It was very noisy. Though the staff was very nice, I don’t think the food was somewhat special or better than other places I’ve been before. Maybe if paying half of the entire bill I would be buzzing happy..
Sadly, Octavia has lost its way. We couldn't wait to celebrate another Christmas Eve at Octavia tonight. What a disappointment. We ordered the wine pairing with the mandatory fixed price dinner. We finished our first course WITHOUT EVER RECEIVING THE WINE PAIRING. We tried without success to get someone's attention the whole time. Then we finally got someone's attention after we had already finished the first course, and the response was tepid. It was like it was OUR fault. REALLY? We were persona non grata for the rest of the night. My main course was inedible. No one ever came to ask how it was, so when the bus person came to take the plates away, I said, can you please tell the chef. He didn't. My dining companion asked for a doggie bag for his beef to bring home to the dogs. HE NEVER GOT IT. EVER. Really, EVER. The dessert was so unappealing that I only had a fourth of it, but ONCE AGAIN there was NOBODY TO TELL THAT TO. We never for a single second felt like someone "owned" our table. We were adrift in a sea of servers scurrying around without a single one of them "owning" our table. What a travesty. I left hungry, "broke," and forever disappointed with Octavia. You would hope that at least on Christmas Eve that Octavia wouldn't "phone it in." What a MASSIVE disappointment. What happened to Octavia? Seriously, WHAT HAPPENED TO OCTAVIA?
We love our evenings ALWAYS at Octavia...it is the best!!
Been here twice and loved it both times.
excellent ambience , service and delicious food
Very nice Birthday dinner.
The food was great! Every single dish unique and flavorful. Duck pate and a pork were the top selections of the night. Service is attentive but not annoying. I was surprised that the place was full on a Wednesday night which is a good sign, right?!
Incredible from start to finish. One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in San Francisco
The food was its usual delicious but the service was rushed. I know we were the last seating but we still wanted time to savor our food
Loved the service, experience and food. The hostess was very cordial and the server was very knowledgeable of the menu. He has great recommendations.
Octavia remains as our favorite place to eat every week!!!

Excellent small neighborhood gem. I'd definitely recommend it.
We love our nights at Octavia....we never ever tire of the food and the people, it is a special place to dine and feel at home!! Thank you so much to everyone there, xo The Barkers
I really like Octavia, the food is always delicious and the service is very good. My only criticism is they should turn the snootiness down a bit. My two friends and I went there for dinner. We started with two small plates each and a carafe of wine. When the waitress took our order she turned to us and said in a condescending tone “Is that all?”. We reply “yes for now”.
After we finished our small plates we went on to order another small plate each, a bottle of wine and desserts. All told we spent a lot of money, more than if we each order an entree and a bottle of wine. So why add snobbery when it’s uncalled for ?
It is the prefect restaurant, always do the tasting menu! The chef is outstanding
In its most current iteration of this location, Octavia shines. Having loved both Quince and the meetinghouse here, I was delighted to experience the latest cuisine with the open kitchen sending out one superb course after another. great job!
We love this place. It’s just awesome every time
Some of the best food I’ve ever had. The celery soup was the best soup I’ve ever experienced. Crazy good restaurant!
The team at Octavia always takes amazing care of us and we feel very fortunate to be able to dine often with such lovely , talented people!!
