One Eleven Main
Fried cod was outstanding a very good value. Service was excellent
Interesting, varied menu. We especially loved the smoked trout appetizer. Fun, creative cocktails. Glad we tried it, but I’m not sure it was completely worth the price.
Went as a date. Service was good. Food was good but there was not anything spectacular. Menu was somewhat restrictive. Was relatively quiet for a Friday night. Made for a nice evening though.
Typically this is my favorite restaurant when visiting Galena. Lately we have noticed the menu does not change as often as it used to. We also had a very new server, and while pleasant, was not informed about specials or the food in general. We visited another restaurant in Galena on our visit this time and were very impressed with the food selection, quality and service. I'll give One Eleven another chance, but I'm on the fence as to whether it is still a have to stop when we visit Galena.
Were seated in a nice overflow area upstairs -- nice ambiance. They were very busy but they managed to keep things moving quickly. Food was very good -- shaved brisket sandwich got rave reviews, the brussels sprouts were excellent. Pot roast was pretty good, but probably wouldn't order again. I would definitely check this place out -- great spot to have a nice dinner with friends.
very good food! we sat in bar area which had nice ambiance and was full of partiers!
We enjoyed dinner at One Eleven Main. Previously, we had been there a few times for lunch. The Med salad was very large and so was the salmon entre. Lots of food! Very tasty. And very attentive service.
Our experience at One Eleven Main was unbelievably poor due to an utter failure in service. Our predinner cocktails were served only after a second request and then served after our wine had been poured for dinner. Dinner itself did not happen until, one hour after being seated, I asked about our food. Ten minutes later our dinner was served but
Mine was completely incorrect from my simple order. At that point we decided to give up and leave. The one positive experience was that the HOSTESS not the manager approached our table with an apology. She also refused to let us pay for the drinks that were served...Bravo to Hanna!
We have had several ok to good meals at this establishment in the past but we have written the place off for the future.
Our server, William, was great! We really enjoyed your meal here. There were 4 of us and we got about 6 different appetizers to share and we each had a few drinks. Great food for a great value! We will be back!
Friday night dining was a small crowd. Pesto chicken was great. Ribeye not so much. Served with a glaze for some reason but not other apparent spices. Lose the glaze it had no flavor. Ordered it medium cooked and it came out less than rare. Given there were maybe 5 tables eating it was not due to being busy. Sent it back for more time but still no flavor. Disappointing to say the least. Went elsewhere for desert.
Carla was our server and was awesome. We felt very cared for. The food was delicious and portions perfect. The homemade soup was fabulous and all entrees were perfect. Thank you for a wonderful evening out.
Made a reservation a month ago for my husbands 50th for only 5 people and we were put in a room with NO ONE else - 9 other empty tables and a piano. Completely cut off from any atmosphere or ambience. It was the worst and the hostess was so unaware of how bad this was. Food was ok, atmosphere was the worst and I was super disappointed to make the trip from
Chicago for this lousy reservation. I will always be bummed by this week experience for my husband who wanted to celebrate in a cozy restaurant. Argh!!!
Food was good and the service was very good. Would try this place again.
The server was unfamiliar with how to greet customers and welcome them to a fine dining establishment. She also was unhelpful with local beer choices. She was also unhelpful with the menu choices. When we asked about various dishes, she read us what was on the menu. The stroganoff was quite tasteless. There were just a few pieces of meat in a large serving of pasta. When we punted that out to the server, she disagreed and said there were little pieces in the sauce. We persisted and she went to the kitchen and returned with a little bowl of beef. The pot roast was very good. The manager came to the table and apologized. The server later told us the manager would like us to have a free dessert.
I love one eleven main—- even given the inconsistency of the experience. This last experience was one of the poorer that I’ve had. The server was so nonchalant that I believe she might have been medicated. I had a taste for beef and ordered a ribeye- the most expensive item on the menu. It was terrible—- absolutely terrible. Medium rare apparently meant raw— and it was an odd grey color. Side facing the plate didn’t even have grill marks. I had to flag down the server after ten minutes of staring at the grey steak and it was clear it wasn’t a high priority for her. Pesto chicken replacement was not all that great either — pasta overdone and not much chicken.
The martinis were fab— the drink menu is what keeps me coming back.
One eleven— you absolutely have to step up your game.
The food was absolutely amazing.
Simple menu, deliciously prepared. Honestly friendly service. Good prices.
My wife had Beef Stroganoff and I had Fish we had a cream soup (I forgot the ingredients) that was absolutely delicious.
Not what we expected
It was good experience it was our Anniversary
Brooke, our server was awesome! The starter salads and soup were fantastic (and gluten free)! The pot roast (also gluten free) was the best I have ever had! Loved the gravy! Wife had the pork chop special, which she would give a B+ (collared greens were strong which made mushrooms limp, potato salad was just OK). We have been here many times, and have never been disappointed.
Our server, (tall man with long hair in a ponytail) smelled terribly of smoke!
Service was top notch. The best of the food was the bread but flourless chocolate was decent not sure how one can make roasted duck breast tasteless but the chef managed his beef stroganoff was impossible to finish it was merely a tasteless white sauce on overcooked short fettuccini with a few hunks of braised breef added at last minute. My God man buy a Betty crocker cookbook and follow the recipes!
Our server was awful. My wife, a celiac had heard some good things so we stopped in to eat. When my wife asked about gluten free pasta, the server seemed put off and said she would ask. She never came back with an answer. They also said they had gluten free beer (it wasn't, it was gluten removed beer which is not safe for celiacs). When we asked our server for a cider instead (I offered to drink the beer myself), she rolled her eyes and walked away. Food was decent, but not great. Te brisket sandwich is super dry and two tiny shrimp added to a salad cost $6 and they automatically add 18% gratuity...our server also got rude when we asked her to split our party of 6 into three groups of two. "That will take at least 15 minutes" she snapped. My wife's gluten free meal also made her very sick. She was definitely glutened.
All in all, not the experience I would expect for the price.
We had a great time at One Eleven Main. The food and service was fantastic. The pot roast meal was delicious!
Excellent service, our dinner was not as good as the last time we visited this restaurant.
The service was excellent and the place looks nice. However, the food was average at best. We had the pot roast which was relatively flavorless and the smoked trout appetizer wasn't very good at all. Unfortunately, most of the other appetizers were fried. If they want to play the local food / farm to table concept, they should do more to celebrate the ingredients, instead of frying or covering everything in sauce.
Service and server were A1! Food was quite good. This restaurant remains one of our favorites in Galena.
Had high hopes to find a great place in Galena ... this is not it. Menu was small but that is a plus most times. Waitress told us everything was good after we asked about the salmon and stroganoff... which is my husbands favorite. We ordered drinks and were given bread which was delicious except the “herb butter “ which was made with dried herbs... a little harsh and odd tasting. The salmon came with summer veg... zucchini and Sumer squash... which may have been good if not sautéed in odd butter oil mix... couldn’t eat it. And also a huge pile of mashed sweet potatoes... very yucky. Salmon was described as having a tasty sauce by waitress... but it had a load of pecans with no flavor but were soggy... so disappointed! No flavor to the stroganoff either and noodles were super thick.... would not recommend... sorry
We made a reservation at one eleven main thinking we would have a semi fancy dinner even got all dressed up. After getting there they sit us downstairs at a table by the bar where its super noisy. We had to ask to be moved upstairs where it's supposed to be the fancy part of the dinning area. Turns out they have a bachelorette party up there making it even more noisy instead of having them down by the bar keeping the noise downstairs. After ordering drinks and food things just weren't the best. The drinks were to strong in the alcohol tasting not even being able to taste the drink. As for the food, they need more then one option for soup, especially for those who don't like mushrooms like myself. The food was bland in flavour and way to expensive for what you get. I was not happy with the overall of this restaurant. The only good part about it is the beauty of this place.
This was an excellent choice for our special family dinner in Galena. Many options for everyone’s needs and excellent service. We appreciate their commitment to local food.
Food and service was outstanding. A must for lunch or dinner on our annual long weekend trip to Galena.
The food is consistently, fresh, homemade and delicious.
My husband and I went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a nice meal. Our waitress could not have been more attentive. We enjoyed our meal immensely. I'd highly recommend One Eleven Main.
We had dined here for lunch on our last visit to Galena and were pleased,so we decided to go for dinner.Very surprised by being rushed through our meal.We had a 6pm reservation on a Monday,so it was not a situation where we needed to be rushed.I ordered a cocktail and my wife ordered a soda.before I had 2 sips of my drink the soup & salad arrived-all dinners come with both.Just as I was finishing my cup of soup, and before I even took 1 bite of salad our entrees arrived.Twice wait staff tried to take my salad-once before I even started eating it.I had planned on ordering wine with my entree, but still had half my cocktail.Food was very good, but being rushed through what I had expected would be a leisurely dinner with drinks was a huge disappointment.I complained to the waitress who had no response and did nothing. We will never return to this restaurant.
The food at 111 Main is very good - well-prepared and delicious. It was by far the best dinner we had on our trip through the "Driftless Region." The only negative is that we were seated next to a party of about 14 celebrating some occasion, and they were very loud. My understanding is that there was seating available upstairs, and, as we had a reservation, it would have made much more sense to put us farther away from the celebrants.
The day we went there were very few people. It was ok, but nothing to write about that was outstanding.
Food and service were great. Chefs salad was huge and very fresh. Pesto chicken pasta was also very good, could have had more chicken, but overall very good. Nice selection of craft beers and served in a chilled glass. Service was attentive and thorough. Will definitely return very soon. Parking can be a challenge on busy days, so be sure to arrive early to find a parking spot and not be late for your reservation. We paid ten dollars to get off street parking two blocks away.
Every Galena visit includes a stop here. Great farm to table. Could be more creative with vegetables. Good bar and our male waiter is always supurb!
Great location! Nice atmosphere. The menu looked promising at a glance when I made the reservation. We got right in when we arrived and were greeted pleasantly and genuinely by the hostess.
2 of us got the pot roast. I have dietary restrictions that didn't allow me to have the mashed potatoes, so I asked for substitutes. There weren't any diabetic options, except for "mixed veggies", which in my mind just means "terrible". Also, the entrée came with soup, and there was only one choice. It sounded good at first (tomato basil), but it was ruined with salmon added. The server offered to give me a "little more salad", but when it came out, it was just as much as my coworker who got the same entrée and salad.
I ate some of the potatoes which were very good as was the salad. The pot roast was very dry and pretty void of flavor, except for the gravy which was pretty good. My coworker who got the same thing had a similar assessment.
This place was "good enough" that I might go again if I was in the area, but with so many options in historic Galena, it's not likely that I will.
My wife and I were in Galena for our anniversary. We ended up eating at One Eleven based on menu. The waiter was decent and the manager stoped by our table toward the end of our meal. Food was delicious. We dined on the second floor where it was quiet with a simple yet tasteful decor. I’d come back again without hesitation.
