Original Joe's Westlake
Cold fries, salty huevos rancheros, inattentive service.
The food was mediocre--the calamari steak was tough and oily, the chicken salad was soggy. The service was perfunctory. The ambience is nice, and there are two parking lots out front.
Have been to westlake Joe's many times - it is always wonderful - food is good, service great, love the lunch "blue plate specials" . cocktails are well made and the hosts always try to be sure we can be seated at a table to accommodate ladies of a certain age who use canes. All the staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful - please tell them we so appreciate all their kindnesses !
Always a great experience
Excellent service the food as always was so delicious.
Classy restaurant as always
Never disappoints! So glad that they now take reservations.
Love meeting friends here and catching up. Always great service and food! Never rushed!!
We have been coming to Joes for over forty years. Not a bad meal yet!
Fantastic dinner, great staff and atmosphere
Can't wait to my next visit! One of my favorite restaurants.
Our waiter was very friendly and the service was excellent.
Have been there many times. I ordered a Rubin sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was over cooked, cold and greasy. The salad was soggy with dressing. My friend enjoyed his Chopped Salad. The service was also poor. I've had much better meals at Westlake Joe's.
Here's the thing about Joe's - the food is delicious. Really, truly delicious, and big portions. The service is also very good, even on super busy nights (most of the time basically). The Italian dishes are fresh and homey, with house-made ravioli, good meats, good (although a tad sweet) sauces; abundant salads, huge decadent desserts. All good. Drinks from the bar are also good. BUT - the noise level is way, way too high to enjoy a nice dinner. I don't know why places don't implement some noise canceling measures - it's not that hard! Some soft surfaces, or a system to cancel some of the ambient discussions. We literally could not hear ourselves the other night, and that makes for an awkward, not fun evening. On top of that, though food portions are big, the prices are very high. I understand, it's the Peninsula; eggplant parmesean for example is $22.00. But for those prices, the noise level is a huge impediment to a nice dinner, and thus I'm not sure it's worth wading through the crowds to eat here anymore. Sad.
Took a good friend for his birthday. We all had fantastic meals & they even gave him a piece of came with a candle, gratis! It’s so nice to count on a “always great” meal with consistency here! Our orders:Cocktails first, Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip next, then main courses: Chinese Chicken Salad, Steak Ala Bruno & Veal Scallopini Sec. ALL fantastic! Can’t wait to visit again!
Great service, delicious food and fun atmosphere
We just has a BIRTHDAY lunch for my 93 year old mother (native San Franciscan). We have been coming here sine the late 60s but began with Original Joe's on Broadway in SF as the family regular in the 50s. We are some of your most loyal patrons, thank you for your service for all these years.
My guess from Singapore expect a better cut of teak, too rare,
Westlake Joe's never lets me down. Can't stress enough need a reservation! So popular!
Excellent meeting spot with friends. Food and service top notch.
Had a great breakfast catching up with a friend Delicious breakfast and easy to get reservation. Westlake Joe’s is it only for dinner anymore
Perfect as always!
We had a fantastic booth. Oscar was our waiter and he was terrific. The Joe’s special and chopped salad were so delicious. Thank you for the wonderful cuisine and service.
Very, very busy on a Wed afternoon so the noise level was pretty high but a fun environment even if it was difficult to hear at times. As usual food was super good and generous. Service lagged a bit, primarily due to kitchen back up I think, as the restaurant was full until we were about finished. All in all we were very satisfied and walked away with leftovers.
Wonderful time as usual. Lunch with best friend. Delicious meal, wine. Wonderful service and setting. Ample parking.
Joe's is always a blast. Comfortable seating, great service and food, normal people eating in the restaurant and having fun. We'd go more often, but it is frequently booked when we decide to go. Lingni and clams are perfect. Burger can feed a family of five ;-). Great place.
Food was excellent. Pretty rare to be disappointed in Joe’s of Westlake
So great there is still an Original Joe's! Love the atmosphere that has been updated but retains the fabulous hip vibe!
Great, old-fashioned Italian restaurant. Good, straightforward food, fairly reasonably priced; lovely ambiance, complete with olive green, cushy booths; great, friendly (but not intrusive) service; food came quickly; hot food hot, cold food cold. We had a great time!
Restaurant was almost empty @ our 3;30 reservation. Chicken marsala was scrumptous and the side dish green salad with blue cheese was ample and delicious. My sister ordered the Joes's filet of sole, which was also delightful. We both doggy bagged our meals. Coffee was exceptional.
Food was delicious!! Definitely recommend the breakfast burrito!!
Having retired to Mexico, Joe's is on my list whenever I return to the Bay Area to visit. I've always loved Joe's and will continue to visit when I'm in town.
Always a great place for good food. A bit pricey but worth it. Excellent service
We 7 all loved it and celebrated my husbands 88th Birthday ,
Kelsey was the most attentive, fun, and great server we have had in a long time. The food was scrumptious and excellent portions. Everyone we came in contact with was so professiomal. (Very unusual nowadays)
Wonderful food with exceptional service!
The food was excellent (charbroiled salmon) as was the service. I try to go to WestLake Joe's at
least once a month.
Joe's at Westlake is Classic! Always consistently good. The wait staff professional, friendly, and very attentive. Always recommend
