Osha Thai 3rd Street
Great experience. The place is quiet, staff is really helpful and the food is just delicious. It could be a great go-to place for Thai food.
Great food and great service. Busy restaurant so make sure you make a reservation.
The food is good, no doubt in that. We didn't like the service though. The lady literally charged us for not giving tips and forced her to give tips. You can't force your customers to give tips. Also it should be mentioned that after 9 15 PM, you cant order anymore.
Loved the curry
The food was excellent but the service was terrible. After our food was brought out, our waiter never came back to check our drinks. We had to flag her down multiple times .
We had an enjoyable dinner at Osha. The Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice were very good. Service very friendly. Great place for a quiet conversation.
There were several large parties that day (ours was 10 people) and the servers were a little less attentive than one would expect. My friend got the wrong salad and when we told the waiter he replied “OK” and shrugged his shoulders. Never offered to correct the problem. That said, food was wonderful and tasty (even the wrong salad!).
I have rated this based Thai food in the USA (not Vs Thai food in Thailand). The food had the right flavours, however were somewhat muted, and lacked punch. Decor decent. Service good.
I forgot how awesome Osha was!!! I use to work in SF and eat there often but now that I’m in the peninsula I can’t get there as much. So I very much enjoyed my meal the other day :) we shared family style the spring rolls, papaya salad, volcano beef, pad Thai and country chicken! All was excellent! Service was right on! I wish there was an osha in San Mateo!!!!
Food is always great here. Service was a little let down this time. Server forgot to place one of our order and when we followed it up, he was saying that we did not ordered it and was arguing with us.
The place is very close to Moscone Center, so it is a very good choice if you are in an event close by. The place is very comfortable and the food is very good. The only thing is that we had our plates served in very different timings, so one of my friends had to wait for his food to be served and the others had already finished their meals by then. We had to ask for the waiter more than 3 times and the response was always: IT IS COMING. I don´t think they are prepared to have the place packed as it was.
Unbelievable! A little loud with cheering going on from a party but it wasn't an issue and everything else was impeccable. Best place we ate in 2 weeks in San Fran.
Very poor service. A friend and I went for lunch and it took an hour and 15 min after we ordered to get our food.
Generally I am a big fan of Osha Thai. Our most recent visit was disappointing. First our reservation time got changed by the restaurant by an hour and a half because of a special event. We shouldn't have been able to make the earlier reservation in the first place since I had made it only 24-48 hours earlier and by then the restaurant must have known about the conflict. We had tired out-of-town guests who had requested an early meal, and we lost that option. We had asked for a quiet table when we made the reservation but when we arrived we were told we couldn't have one even though several other quiet tables were empty. The restaurant's logic? More people were coming in later that night. That made no sense to us but we demurred. There were lots of servers, but none of ours was competent. They confused our orders, were not clear when they spoke to us, but were very pleasant. As for the food--the volcano beef--a specialty--was tough. We couldn't cut it and could hardly chew it. We were not given serving spoons for any of the dishes we ordered. We asked the server to serve our soup--there was no soup serving spoon. He clearly did not know how to do it and said he was too busy. We had to serve it with tiny spoons. The noise level overall made conversation among ourselves and with the servers almost impossible. Overall the food was ordinary at best. If this had been my first visit I would never go back to Osha Thai. I will try again and see what I think. Our guests from out of town were underwhelmed by the evening. I don't blame them.
Host tried to sit me in a very cramped seat, but the server was kind enough to offer me a seat at the bar instead. Which was comfortable , but the service, by the bartender was horrible. As an example, it took him over 10 minutes to pick up my check and credit card for processing even though he walked by me multiple times, as if he could only do one thing at a time.
Based on my experience, I would only recommend this place based on the quality of the food which was outstanding. But the host and bartender need to do a better job of servicing customers.
We hadn't been to this restaurant in a while, but it was centrally located from work for us. We arrived at different times and they were nice to seat us as we came in. We got seated in a booth. The upholstery on the booth was tired and cracked and really needs replacing. The food was as good as I remembered it to be, but the portions seemed smaller. We especially enjoyed the Ka-Prow Kai, the Volcanic Beef, and the Thai samosa appetizer, but our favorite dish was the Mango Sticky Rice dessert. The Volcanic Beef could have been a little spicier.
Terrible service - the food was alright but too greasy. Our waiter had an attitude when asked for a straw. In fact, we had to ask for straws twice because they kept ignoring our request, and then had the audacity to tell us that we have to ask for straws (we are very well aware of CA laws). When it came time to pay, none of the waiters seemed to care enough to grab our checks. I doubt I’ll ever return back here.
Great atmosphere. Friendly service. Beautiful decor. Clean restrooms. Nice bar. I have been here numerous times. Food is very good and presented with style. Always fresh. Lots of options. Good choice for business meetings and personal time with family.
Great food and service. Nice location for a birthday celebration.
Terrible service, mediocre food
Amazing place! The food is incredible, so is the ambiance. For a downtown area restaurant I would say it is a must visit! Also, reasonable pricing.
I love the atmosphere, although the tables for two are quite small. The food and drinks were good but I expected more for the prices. On the upside, the service is awesome and the wait time for food and drinks isn’t long at all. In my opinion the Osha Thai at Embarcadero has a bit more to offer in terms of space and quality of food.
Unfortunately received wrong order and took a long time at lunch time. The food was decent.
Too sugary everything was drenched in sweet sticky sauce
Service and food was good. And the ambiance of the place was very relaxing.
Really good Thai food and great service.
Rick our sever was great. Tasty,, well executed dishes, but the timing from the other wait staff was off a bit. App came before drinks and the mains came all at once. Still, it was worth it! Will definitely go there again.
Fantastic menu. Great curry and wonderful staff!!!
Had dinner with a friend of mine at Osha Thai. We ordered Pad See Ew with prawns and Angry Prawn. Dishes were good but a bit salty overall. Angry Prawn was spicy. I liked the interior design and atmosphere of the restaurant.
My go to place for lunch when treating business guests.
The menu is varied with manu vegetarian options, but all the dishes our party of 8 ordered were to sweet and syrupy. Does not taste like true Thai food.
Good food! Some great dishes; others good! Overall good experience.
Very good food and service. Seated promptly after making res. on line.
Delicious pumpkin curry and spicy eggplant. Great option for groups.
The tuna tower was very bland this time, but in the past it was stellar. Everything was delicious. We met for lunch. It was very crowded with large groups from a medical conference at Moscond center. We had a reservation & there was no wait. The service was fantastic despite the multiple tables of 20+ people each.
Indifferent service. Lukewarm food. Poorly prepared cocktails.
Dined many times at former 2nd St location & always had a good experience. New location next to Moscow Center evidently means they don’t have to try - fresh batch of conventioneers every week!
Country chicken was spicy and delicious, even my non-spice-loving friend liked it. Pumpkin curry was a delight as well. Medium portioning, one person could knock out either of those dishes solo. I think they were both about $14 which include a big scoop of jasmine rice. Nice atmosphere, looks more refined -decent for business meals or anything forma, but also just good spot. Wait staff was very pleasant and prompt about refilling water which doesn’t often happen elsewhere. Worth a visit.
We took family and friends that were visiting for our wedding here. Everyone raved about the food. All the dishes we got were great. Osha's always a pleasure.
This place is a great find with good ambience and welcoming spirit. We requested to be transferred to a bigger table for more elbow room and was gladly approved. From food with reasonable price to good customer service, definitely we will come back . Thank you Osha thai crew for making our first visit a memorable one.
For what was in the past a well designed hip restuarant, it has turned to a restaurant that the owners clearly don't care about. The leather of our chairs was completely ripped. Some of the paper menus we got had food stains on them. The food was still ok, not all plates were as good as I remembered. When we asked for an extra egg, we were charged for it $2.5.
