Recommendation would depend on friend’s. Expectations and sophistication. Food was fine but not as good as any of 100 restaurants in Korea town in nyc or pal park in NJ. Good service. Definitely not blown away by any of the dishes. Also, too pricey for what it is.
We are regulars and always love Parachute and now Wherewithall. Our visit this week was disappointing. The oysters were too warm, mignonette with Apple lifeless. The pickles all too crunchy not fermented enough. The main dish of brisket and the smoked tofu ssam - was just not that satisfying. Experimentation with a tiramisu held promise but was layered with way too much cream. We just felt the flavors, experiments lacked balance - the entire dinner was off kilter. Hope chef gets back into the groove soon - we love Parachute but not this week!
It was nice to be able to try a diverse of Korean food that is different from your average Korean restaurant. However, the dishes are way over priced for what they are. Our waiter also advised us to order way too much food.
Wow! What a lovely night! We chose the kitchen’s choice and Easley piece was better than the one before. Food runner took as much pride and care as our server did. We will be back
Get the BING bread, clams, scuttlefish, broccoli salad.
The scuttlefish was A+
Skip the tuna (covered in weird sauce) and pickles (they aren't cucumbers, but other veggies!)
The food and ambience were outstanding. Our only issue was that there were long pauses between courses where we were waiting for our food -- at one point over 20 minutes.
Very fancy, chef tasting menu. But we felt that we filled up on the heavy apps and had to take our mains home. It was good and definitely inventive, but a one time visit for us.
So great. My husband is vegan and though they don’t do modifications they had plenty of delicious vegan dishes. And all the staff has been informed of him being vegan and were very attentive and knowledgeable. Such a professional yet warm and engaging staff!
Really beautifully thought out food. Good service and great ambiance. Will be back for sure!
We loved the food and the wine pairings. Service was amazing...we can’t wait to go back! Thanks for a wonderful birthday meal for my husband!
Very informed waitstaff. The menu was limited but everyone found something they enjoyed.
The Bing bread complimented the food and we’d recommend it to diners especially if you’re going for a few of their spicy items (i.e. the pickles )
We love this restaurant -- just wish it were closer to home and we'd go more often. The food is so interesting and inventive. The absolute standout on this visit was jiap chae (spelling?) made into a nori wrapped and lightly tempura fried with a nice dipping sauce. It was so good I really wanted to have another go at it for dessert. Service is very friendly and informative. Dishes arrive as they're ready. Really good wine by the glass. There were small groups, couples and families enjoying the restaurant. We were there very early so the noise level was moderate.
Great service, tasting menu for NYE was phenomenal and varied and plenty of food, great addition of the hats and horns and champagne toast at midnight. Thanks for an excellent evening!
Love this place. Always spend our special occasions here and never been disappointed!
Always an amazing meal - the NYE special continued to impress. Highlights were the nigiris, the cod and the beef au poivre!
The food was outstanding. I’ve dined there multiple times and the food this time was the best ever.
Parachute never disappoints! Outstanding food, service & cocktails!
This Korean influenced food is simply terrific
Best dish was the tofu
Where do they source these terrific oysters?
My friend and I shared 4 plates and 1desert. We had the potato bing bread (very good), the tuna (surprisingly spicy), scrapple ( very good) and cuttlefish (excellent) and black rice pudding (wonderful). The couple next to us was having the 65 pp chef's choice, and that looked even better!
Some communal table, but not an issue, as you can talk and hear easily.
Weird smell in restaurant. Wasn’t food related. Got better as more cooking smells permeated restaurant but still got lingering odor.
I was very excited to dine at Parachute given accolades. I was disappointed. The food was just OK and the value was similar. The tuna and cuttlefish were both really good, but not that unique. The Sondae scrapple was bland and presented in an unattractive manner--a real miss and I like blood sausgae. The short rib also was a miss; the raw cremini mushrooms did nothing for the dish and the chestnuts and radishes were bit players. For the price and (lack of) ambiance, I would not run back.
Food was just ok. I expected better. Nothing blew us away.
The food at Parachute is very inventive which makes for a fun, different experience. Our server was very good and made us feel at home. The only shortcoming was the short rib which was a bit tough. Otherwise it was very good.
I highly recommend to go with the chef’s tasting menu. The Wine pairings are also well selected. In addition, we decided to go the extra mile with another great bottle recommendation from the staff to add to our meal.
My only suggestion and or change would be to tone down the glaze crust on the white fish dish and or add another lime wedge.
We will definitely be back!
All the food was delicious! Would highly recommend the broccoli salad and the mackerel. Service was great too. Although it is a little far out the city center, it is definitely worth the trip.
Parachute is consistently incredible.
Parachute is always amazing. Food was so delicious. We always come here for special occasions! Love Parachute!
The service was both impeccable and extremely helpful. The portions were on the small side. Food was extremely well prepared. I'm not sure we enjoyed the Korean-fusion cuisine. Would probably have preferred straight Korean to be honest.
I really wanted to love Parachute. The service was excellent!! The food was disappointing. The best thing was the bing bread - get a whole loaf! Small portions for price and some dishes too spicy.
Delicious, used to be a fave but now only for special occasions as it’s become too expensive for more than once a year, at most.
table are too close to each other and during the waiter took the order from the neighbor table I was afraid that hair will come in my food from the long hair of the waiter who were waiting in between the tables.. and she bumped me also when she tried to get in between the table ... so I covered my plate till she left
Parachute is and remains hands down one of the most creative and best cuisine in all of Chicagoland. Their level of sofistication yet relaxed atmosphere, the short but to the point creative wine-list, the super-friendly and knowledgeable staff, the vibe of the restaurant ... all all all is great!!!
Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing meal. We tried items in every category on the menu and nothing had the proper flavor profile. Some items were completely tasteless. I was shocked that this place has a Michelin star. There are so many better places to go - even near by. I will not be back.
Unfortunately disappointing for a Michelin star restaurant. Food was decently tasty but two menu items missed to properly describe that they were quite spicy ( did not have the pepper symbol). Biggest disappointment was that that food was tasty but not in any way forward thinking or something different from the vast array of non Michelin star ones. The overall noise level was distracting ... it felt as if the guests on the next table were screamign (could be due to bad acoustics) . Do not recommend
Amazing food, amazing space, amazing service!
We had almost everything on the menu and it was all outstanding. In particular the tuna tartare and the bbq tofu dish.
Claire was amazing and all of her recommendations were spot on! The squash dessert was the best thing I’ve had in a long time. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant
This was the best, most creative meal we have had in a very long time. Every dish (with the exception of the flat iron steak, which was fine but not exceptional) had something surprising and wonderful right down to our 3 desserts, finishing with the Koreapolitan ice cream! And our waitstaff help was perfect; great help in navigating new foods and pairing a wine. We can’t wait to return!
