We are regulars at Pauline's - not too often per year, but over many. We couldn't recall the food being quite so terrific as this time that we went!
Our meal started with Chef David visiting our table. He told about the restaurant and the specials. We felt welcomed and really excited for what was to come. The first course was escargot, which was done to perfection. Next course was scallops with pasta, chantrelle mushrooms and a lemon butter white wine reduction sauce. Third course were slices of medium rare tenderloin on top of a lapkas resting on a bed of spinach accompanied by roasted peppers. Then came his famous beet and candied walnut salad followed by chocolate gnosh cake topped with sorbet. This meal was absolutely delicious and done to perfection. The staff was gracious and welcoming. Everyone was using their PPE so we felt safe as well.

It’s nice to have a place to go that’s consistently good. My husband especially loved the beets with his veggie hash. My Eggs Benedict was outstanding, and the Bloody Mary’s were very good.
Great dinner! Food was delicious and drinks were great. Bartender and waitress were terrific.
We were discouraged that we were put downstairs because of how slow it was so our request for upstairs wasn’t met. The appetizer we picked consisted of 3 shrimp with salsa which wasn’t exactly what we expected to share for two. And the bread plate consisted of two split pieces of a popover and a slice of bread which seemed less than we had in previous years. And they couldn’t meet the request of American cheese and regular yellow mustard when ordering a burger. Too many disappointments to return again but the staff tried their best and were very pleasant.
We chose Pauline's for a birthday brunch and we were glad we did. We had the Casco Bay Eggs, Roast Vegetable Hash, French Toast, and Two Eggs. We all cleaned our plates. The bread plate with popover muffins was a nice start to the meal. The staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely returning.
The restaurant was good, not the type of good that I would necessarily send someone to as a must go to, but it was not bad and I would also tell someone that if they are looking for a place in south burlington they should consider Paulines. Only real negative was served undercooked bread. I like warm bread, but not when it is still dough. Our server rectified problem, but still making note that it should not have occurred to begin with. All staff was very nice and service was great!
Valentine’s Day. Reservation for 8:30, didn’t get food till 9:45. When the food did come it was cold. Service was slow and waiters were not attentive to guest needs (seemed like “regulars” were first priority, and others were afterthoughts). Ordered a second round of drinks before dinner and didn’t receive them till we were done eating. Overall was super excited to bring my significant other to try something new, but was really let down. I will give them another try on slower night.
We had great Valentines dinner, reservations were for 6:30, we showed up early but they had us seated at 6pm.

Disappointing, in almost all regards except for the bread . We came in at 2:00pm and were only allowed to order from the brunch menu. The service was pleasant but slow. Food was subpar especially when you consider the price and portions

It has been a long time since I made it here. We had an issue with the reservation getting through from OT and then at the last minute my sister and hubby decided to join us, taking our party from 6 to 8. The team was more than gracious to get us in and set up spot for our party. The wait staff was friendly and courteous. The food was excellent. My parents who had never been vowed to be back the enjoyed it so much. Definitely recommend the Bistro Steak. Can definitely taste the grass fed beef and it was very good quality. The Vesper Martini was also excellent, perfect blend of gin and vodka with flavorful but not overpowering vermouth.
This was our second Christmas Eve at Pauline's. Such a cozy and warm atmosphere. Just perfect for the mood. Our food was fantastic!
Great Thanksgining feast, with interesting choices outside of turkey. Delicious soup, relishes, and desserts.
As usual food was excellent but the sitting arrangement wasn’t great way too cold. Took some convincing to get a little heater. Welcome gentleman was somewhat disturbed that we were 20 minutes earlier than scheduled reservation.
Great place to meet friends for breakfast or lunch during brunch hours on weekends.

The fish was fresh and excellent. I would have liked more and better vegetables, especially for a restaurant in a farmland area. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Sitting upstairs was much quieter than downstairs.
Good food and easy to get to
Would not recommend. Made a reservation through open table. Arrived on time for our reservation and the hostess said we didn't have a reservation. Showed her the open table confirmation on my phone and she said oh well, we are having internet trouble and next time we should call for a reservation. Mind you there were a ton of table open and we were told they could not accommodate us. Not impressed and would not recommend. Handled poorly.
Loud diner near us
Example: Was served 1/2 dozen over-priced oysters on the half shell that were sadly deflated, lacked brine and had not been properly released from the shell. Could not finish them. Told them about it and was charged anyway.
Great place! Parents weekend at Uvm. 3 B’s cocktail was fantastic. Crab cakes dinner was great as well. Cheese plate starter was quite small, disappointing. Overall great.

Food and service were very good - however, they charge a substantial fee for using a credit card, which was definitely a turn off to our entire dining party. I would imagine that most people use a credit card when they dine out - my husband and I dine out quite frequently and almost never pay with cash except at pizza shops or restaurants at that level. We have never once been charged for using a credit card at any restaurant. If Pauline's does not want to pay the fees from credit card companies, they should raise the price of each meal to cover the fees rather than add this to the customer's check. In short, the food was good; however, the policy left a bad taste.
We found Pauline's on OpenTable. We'd just arrived after a drive from Boston.
- Everyone was super-nice and super-polite. Can't fault them for that.
- We had to request nearly everything several times. I asked for hot tea with honey 3x before it arrived.
- There were four parties in our section. We were the first of them to order, and the last to be served. When I complained (for the 2nd time) about our entries, the bartender (seemingly the only one in charge) said there was a large party upstairs. So...their money is better or more important than ours? Or the Mgt didn't plan to serve regular customers while ignoring everyone downstairs?
- I would NOT have left a tip - but it was not the server's fault.
- The Waldorf salad was, well, strange: apple slices instead of chunks, and cabbage slaw instead of lettuce?
- The pork schnitzel was very flavorful - except that it was room temperature as well as late.
I WOULD NOT go back. And Pauline: I want my money back!
We picked Pauline's based on Open Table reviews and we were not disappointed. We had a good meal at a reasonable price.
The front room is a bit close, which makes it a little noisier. Everything else was great!!
I selected this establishment from Trip Advisor. Food was all excellent especially the pear salad. Server was very friendly but could not serve alcohol so we had a bit of a wait. Once the beer and wine were served all was good.
Always great food, a go to place for a rewarding dinner with friends family or clients. Offers not your everyday options with local produce! Using on line reservations is super helpful.
Must have been understaffed. It took 45 minutes to get our drinks. We were sitting next to the bar. No one behind bar for half hour...?
