Piccolo Mondo - Hyde Park
a wonderful special event (birthday) evening filled with spectacular food and service provided excellent guidance. a most pleasant evening
The food was very good, knowledgeable wait staff, and moderate prices.
wonderful choice of restaurant especially if attending theater nearby. consistent in quality and sercice.
Food was great, and the portions were generous.
Each of our entrees was thoughfully prepared to our specifications.
The ingredients were high quality and fresh.
Our waiter though efficient, lacked a bit of tableside manner.
All things considered, I'd reccommend the spot with few reservations.
Good service. poor wine selection.mediocre food. good location and ambiance.
This was the third time that I at at Piccolo Mondo. It is a decent, traditional Italian restaurant. The food was good, not great. It would have benefited from modernization and freshening, such as by using fresh herbs on the pasta, etc. The prices are a bit high for what they serve.
The gnocci with vodka sauce was very good. I liked the ambiance. We went for a late lunch (1:30pm). It was not too busy. Was easy for our party of 9 to be seated quickly. Our server was attentive/wonderful also.
The food was delicious and the service excellent. The grilled calamari is the best I've ever had.
This has been a mainstay for our family while our son has been a student at U of C. The food is always great, especially having several vegetarians in the family, and the service friendly, accommodating and impeccable. We often tell our son to order carry out and know that he will get a yummy healthy meal. We plan still make our way here even after our son graduates!
This is a good Italian restaurant with some Spanish and other Latin items. The food was good, we especially enjoyed the seafood.
An attractive dining room but serving very uneven food. The whitefish was fresh and not bad but had a too-goopy sauce. The eggplant parmigiana was among the worst ever: soggy, drowned in metallic tasting sauce. Two of my guests had the lambchops special; i didn't try it but they both gave a thumbs up.
I have returned to Piccolo Mondo because the location is within walking distance and the food is good, though over-priced in my opinion. My only real complaint is how the customer's experience is not valued. Some time ago, as we began our meal, I noticed that the olive oil was rancid. Both waiter and chef insisted it was not, but my two guests both agreed with my observation. On my last visit the dessert was a little bit different from what the menu stated, but the server was not about to acknowledge the discrepancy. These are not big issues overall, but it leaves a sourness with me.
Outstanding food and service as always this has become one of our families go to spots for special occasions
Very nice Italian restaurant, with a wide selection of dishes. Have been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed
good food. quiet so people can enjoy the ambiance and have a liesurely meal an actually converse with the others at he table.
I have always had a great experience at Piccolo Mondo! I highly recommend this location.
The bathroom situation is terrible. The service is ok but they serve soda out of a can and charge for refills. You have to be very close to other tables so private conversations are not private.
Beautiful restaurant and easy parking next door at Solstice. The minestrone soup was excellent as were the crepes that were on special. Drinks were strong
Lovely space, free parking, excellent food. Loved the spinach lasagna.
Great meal after a day at the museum. Excellent food!
If you want to have lunch or dinner with a friend and catch up with them, this is the restaurant. Unlike other restaurants where the noise level makes it hard to hear what you friend is saying, this restaurant has high ceilings. I am not sure if they have acoustic tiles or what but you can actually hear each other even when the restaurant is filled. Great food and service.
Nice neighborhood place. Old-school Italian food. Comfortable.
The food is very good, but the portions are fairly small for the price.
Nice place in Hyde Park close to Museum and University. Tough to find parking. Food was great, service was average. Ambiance was great.
Celebrated my 40th birthday and I enjoyed myself immensely. Food was great, service was awesome, ambiance was beautiful. I will be returning
Had dinner with my wife after visiting our granddaughter at Comer. We will definitely return to try more of the menu. Great food and service. Plenty of parking in the garage across the street.
A very intimate and beautiful place. Me and my love will be back.
Very nice ambiance. Noise level high due to fact place was totally filled (Valentine's Day). The lamb offering was fabulous. The seafood crepes so-so. Service good.
Big menu, solid food but empty. I prefer quiet restaurants but don't like being the only ones in the place. Food is good and portions are generous. Nice to look out to museum.
Salad with smoked salmon was delish and lots of salmon. Pastas very old school and good.
Food was excellent!!! Staff was excellent!!!! Overall fantastic. Will go again!!!
Cold, blustery day was made enjoyable by eating dinner here. Great wait staff and delicious entree. Enjoyed the wine recommendation.
Great as usual. Our 20 month old granddaughter enjoyed it too. She loves pasta.
Service was very slow, seemed disinterested in us. Bread put on table was stale. All food was mediocre.
I’m a native Chicagoan and was raised in Hyde Park. My visit to Piccolo Mondo was this week when I took a client there for lunch. I’ve been back three times this week alone. The food is delicious and what a charming ambiance.
This was a great place in Hyde Park. it's sorta hidden. The seafood and pasta was great. I will go again. A great place for a date. It quit and allows for good conversation.
Really great staff, reasonable menu options (not too many), and relaxing atmosphere with a great wine list. Quite a nice place for a date night or getting together with friends.
We like the Italian food taste. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The prices are reasonable. The food is top notch.
Piccolo Mondo is always great! We dine with them every time we come to Chicago! Food is always great, service is prompt, and the wine list has many good Italian wines. Can't recommend it enough!
This restaurant has become a favorite when visiting Chicago. It has a very upscale feel without being pretentious. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The food is outstanding. If you’re seeking a quiet and dignified dinner for a good value, this is the place in Hyde Park.
