Prairie Grass Café
Delicious food - great service- totally appreciated that birthday treat appeared at table without having to remind server!
Service is really great. Food was pretty good relative to northern suburbs.
Very thoughtful menu beautifully executed. Good quality ingredients, not fancy you can eat this food every day. Gracefully served by an attentive staff.
Service and food were excellent. Burger and skirt steak live up to their top notch reputation. Banana cream pie was delectable. Even the coffee was delicious and the warm complimentary bread was to die for!
Have always ordered the ancho marinade skirt steak. None better!!
I am a vegan and was wonderfully surprised to find several amazing and delicious selections. I will definitely be back and will spread the word.
Great spot to have an excellent meal...wonderful ambiance too! I totally recommend the skirt steak and the crispy half boneless chicken! Great drinks too!!
Delicious for birthday or business lunch or every day lunch or dinner. My favorite.
We came for dinner and a birthday celebration. We had an excellent dinner and the service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and friendly as well as professional.
I had arranged for a birthday cupcake to come to our table and it was beautifully presented.
We really enjoyed our dinner.
We dine regularly at Prairie Grass

We had a pleasant dinner after attending the Botanic Garden's Lightscape. If we go to the CBG again and want an alternative to their restaurants, we will go back to Prairie Grass.
We love Prairie Grass, and enjoy it. Our server, as well as the back waiters, food runners, etc are always pleasant. We arrived and were taken to a table in the back room, in a corner, next to an emergency exit and fire extinguisher. It was a bit cramped. When I asked the hostess if we could move to a table in a more open area, she became quite huffy with us. She spun on her heels and marched, very quickly, to another, more desirable, table. She never said “sure, or please follow me”. She dealt out the menus in a very brusk manner, and quickly said “enjoy your meal” and marched off. It was a bit off putting. Lucky for her, we know the restaurant well enough to know that this isn’t typical, and also, our server was delightful, as she always is, which diffused the initial bad feelings.
Chef George’s cooking is phenomenal and the service just lifts up an already amazing dining experience. I highly recommend Jose as your server. He offered our table a delicious glass of Rose along with our arugula salad. Bread service and water refill was prompt and seemless. I’m enjoying a conversation with my guest and bam, more bread, an extra coke, and a refill on my cocktail. I had their ancho skirt steak as my entree and it was delightful. 10/10 recommend.
Prairie Grass Cafe has a great menu. I enjoy the Ahi Tuna Salad. Good for a business meal or out with friends in evening
The food was wonderful-we had a mix of specials (chicken Caesar flatbread) and regular menu items (burger and crispy chicken). The restaurant was packed (congrats) so we ate at the bar. We didn’t realize it at the time, but the bartender was gone for our first 15 minutes so we didn’t get drinks for the first 10, then we got our water and sodas (from what turned out to be a hard-working non-bartender), then we got a beer when the bartender returned. From then on, service was great.
Always a quality overall experience -- the service is always the best.
Was awesome !!
Great new years eve dinner.
Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent dinner and atmosphere.
Food and service are always excellent. I always meet friends here on lunch. You can actually hear the conversations! Would heartily recommend.
Meh. Nice enough, but rather common place and feels like a hotel lobby. I won’t be back.
This is our go-to for special Sunday brunches. Each menu item is carefully prepared and well presented. Eating while surrounded by beautiful scenes on large-screen TVs is delightful.
They got my order wrong but they made up for it by not charging us for our entrees
Great service, interesting and delightful food and drinks!
We came to Prairie Grass for our 1st time 2 weeks ago. Our experience from food to service was not good. When we left, the next day the owner, George called to express his sincerest apology for our experience. He said he was going to send us a gift certificate to come back and try Prairie Grass again, and he said he was going to reimburse our meal as well. George, not only sent us a $100.00 gift certificate, he reimbursed our $77.00 meal from 2 weeks prior. He also comped the remainder of the bill this evening, that was over $100.00 . That being said, our meal, service and ambiance was perfection. From the minute we sat down until we left, our evening out at Prairie grass was amazing. We will be back. Thank you George for treating your customers with such great care.
Met colleague for lunch
Excellent dinner for our party of 8 to celebrate the holidays. 7 of us had the fabulous sirloin burger, one person had a fish selection. Thought the single wine glass prices were high, and the pour rather skimpy. Will probably return but order wine.
Chicken rice soup tasty, but why have potatoes in it? Ordered half crispy boneless chicken. Serving is a breast & thigh. In what universe is that a half chicken? Where's the wing & leg? Since I don't eat dark meat only had the breast. Extremely dry & not at all crispy. Tasted very much like a reheated piece of meat. The rice was good and squash mediocre. Extremely poor value for price of meal.
Very busy early Sunday night, seated promptly, service uneven. We had barely sat down when our server wanted to take our order. We said we needed a minute, then it was quite a few minutes before he returned. Then our entrees were brought out before we had finished our appetizers. We ordered a bottle of wine and server never returned to pour more. Not a big deal, we can pour our own wine, but a little more attention would have been nice. But, as I said, it was very busy. Food was delicious. I had the duck, my husband had a filet, both were perfectly cooked.
The food was just ok and the dessert was bland..... the banana cream pie had no taste and presentation ... it was basically dried crust and whipped cream.
Not worth the $$. Will not plan to return.
Excellent specials. Friendly wait staff. Fresh ingredients from local sources. Never disappoints.
We were accommodated in the booth we requested, our service was very attentive and the food was perfect according to our order. We lingered over second drinks and did not feel rushed to free up the booth.
Outstanding shrimp spring rolls. Flavorful smoked salmon pizza.
Brussel sprouts salad was interesting with thin match stick cut vegetables.
Duck is always excellent. Now it is thighs. We also enjoy breasts.
Solid pumpkin pie. Nate is an attentive server, outstanding.
Whole staff, from front desk reception to everyone, really care. It is worth the trip from Chicago.
This restaurant is my family's favorite for many reasons. The food is spectacular and often unique. my family values the thought and diligence given to sourcing and quality of all of the ingredients involved in each dish. We have not found an equal in the quality of service that they manage to maintain there - which, I believe, indicates both quality of service to the customer, but also to the employee because the employee retention seems obvious to us. We value this restaurant.
Waiter was terrible. Service was very slow.
Two of the four meals came out wrong.
First visit. Food and service was very good. Will be back.
Loved the meal. Waitress was awesome
