As usual, service was very good---polite and non-intrusive. Food fabulous, as always. This is my "go to" restaurant for food variety, drinks, and a cozy, pleasant environment.
This is a gem located in Lockport. The food is always excellent as is the value. We have had Debbie as our server and she is always pleasant, prompt, and smiling. I love the ambiance and the historic setting.
Always a great time and a teriffic meal every time we go to Public Landing. I enjoyed the Prime Rib and my wife had one of the daily specials and we were very pleased. The staff is sure that you are taken care of and that everything is up to their high standard.
Great place to go for a date night or to share a meal with a group of friends!
The prime rib was good, but I don't like that the meals do not come with soup or salad. It's all extra. You have to get mashed potatoes. I don't care for that either. If you want a baked potato, it's not offered, only double baked for extra money. The pretzel bread offered was delicious tho.
Took mom and dad for fish dinner on Friday during lent.
Once agan, we had a wonderful meal at one of our favorite venues. The building is perfectly restored, the view is charming, and a sense of Illinois history lives and breathes here. The food is comforting, yet hip.
Always OUTSTANDING ! Great atmosphere, great food, and great service!
Fun restaurant with very good food and drink specials that are a value. The Lake Perch was delicious...
Food and service is always great.
Public Landing will remain one of my favorites for lunch on the patio. This time around, my dinner was a bit disappointing. The shrimp was tasty but the red pepper rice and steamed broccoli essentially had no flavor.
Overall food was good. But the steaks could have use a bit more seasoning.
Great food and great service
Birthday. The meal was good but a little high in price.
Server was attentive and provided good recommendations. Food was nothing special but good.1/2 price wine was a nice bonus.
Great food and service
Appetizer was tasteless and the main course of steaks were burnt.
The one positive is that the atmosphere was good and romantic. Besides that I really did not enjoy the rest - service was slow, appetizer was good but the main dish and dessert were not. Whoever created the dessert had not clue what they were doing. Overall, I will not be going back and would not recommend this place.
We decided to try a few new restaurants and this one did not disappoint. We were seated within minutes of our arrival. The server was extremely attentive. Our food was excellent, we had the crab cakes and bread as appetizers. Then we had filet and surf and turf.... I would just get the filet next time. Too much food... lol. For desert we had the carmelized fruit/crepe basket and bread pudding. Both were amazing. The restaurant was a bit loud near the entry and the bar but our seating was much more quiet. I loved the atmosphere. My vodka gimlet was a bit strong but good. We will be back.
Had I known that the day after Valentine's they would still be on a special menu I would have never booked. Limited selection overall. I had the Prime Rib, which had gristle running up the middle I had to try to carve out the whole meal. Wine list is limited. If you are going to serve "bruschetta" at least try to put oil and tomato on it rather than some mix vegetable crap that was bland on pretzel bread slices. Guess we need to go back to the city to find quality food. The tables were jammed together you could hardly maneuver through the restaurant without running into some one.
Valentine dinner was below par compared to the usual quality. Seafood cake and lobster bisque was very good. Beef Wellington steak was of a poor quality and difficult to chew. Fruit dessert was average.
I will go back again, but maybe not on special day, as I believe that they expected many people and opted out for a cheap steak to save money.
Awesome food and service! Staff is friendly and always mindful of guests' needs. I love this restaurant!
Went for Valentines dinner special for 2. Bruchetta was okay, very small portion, not much flavor. Lobster bisque was good, but nothing spectacular. MY entree was chorizo stuffed pork chop. Overcooked and dry, and covered in a disgusting looking pink sauce. She had beef wellington. Tasted like cheap steak with a store bought biscuit on top. Only thing worth it was the salted caramel brownie for dessert. Also, no beer on draft...what restaurant doesnt do that these days. Maybe we will try again on a regular menu day, but I dont see that happening soon
First timer and we were impressed! Great food and fantastic service!
Valentines was amazing. Thank You
Customer Service was great from beginning to end! Food was good too. Fun Valentine’s Day experience!
Unfortunately it was not good. Two stars only bc seafood cake & shrimp cocktail were delicious. But service was very slow, drink order was incorrect, beef "Wellington" was way overcooked, lobster bisque was & thick/congealed & did not taste at all like lobster (inedible). Dessert - called 'berries with cream' on the menu (simple, right?) was an unidentifiable pudding-like mass with nuts?? = gross (also inedible). The front part of the restaurant looks nice & updated, nice bar, it was busy but with many seats open at the bar & open tables. Although we had reservations, we were sat in the back in a room that was ugly, old & outdated.
So, it was our first visit and our last. 😕
Food was fresh and tasty. We didn’t like the hovering of wait staff wanting to take our plates away.
We've eaten at Public Landing quite often, so we thought this would be a good choice for Valentine's Day. I was disappointed with the Bruschetta appetizer, large plate, small, small portion.
House Old Fashioned was perfect.
Main course of Beef Wellington was so-so, probably not something I would reorder.
I was most peeved when the waitress came to grab the check even though we were still sitting at the table finishing our drinks. Isn't it just normal wait-person etiquette to wait until the guess leave the table to swoop in and claim the check?
All in all, I do think we will visit again and recommend Public Landing to friends.
Wonderful menu, great service and unique atmosphere.
Our favorite place for special occasions!! Feel like family there.
We went for my boyfriends birthday it was 7 people dining. The food and service is always great here and I can't wait to go back.
First time diners. Glad we found. Amazing meal and experience. Will definitely return!
Food was terrible as well as the service. My dish was overcooked and cold when it came out. I was there with my 5 year old and service took forever. We were overlooked several times and I'm sure it had to do with the fact that I was there with my child!
Casual dining experience with upscale food.
Good kids menu as well.
Our party of four met for an early lunch on Saturday . We all enjoyed our entrees and service was excellent. I would have rated Ambiance higher, however, there was a distinct odor as we entered the dining room. Smelled like a sewer. Seemed to disappear before our meal was served. Detected a very slight return of that odor upon our departure.
Great food, easy parking and exceptional service. Would definitely return!
Wonderful birthday celebration. The staff were very gracious.
THE ABSOLUTE BEST. THATS IT. WHY GO ELSEWHERE???
Love this place. Nice rustic atmosphere, consistently good food and service.
Amazing food as always
