30 Boltwood - Inn on Boltwood
The two of us had lovely meals. J. had duck and I a vegetarian dish that was especially tasty. Hummus platter was a great starter. Nice desserts, including homemade sorbets. Quiet ambience, attentive service. We will be back.
The New Year’s Eve wine pairing dinner was fabulous. One member of our party has a dairy allergy and gluten sensitivity. The chef worked around it with culinary craftsmanship! Thank you!
We were staying at the Inn for a nice night away from the kids and chose to eat at the restaurant for convenience’s sake. The decor is tasteful but bland, which was disappointing for an old, boutique hotel—I was hoping for some character and charm, but it just looks like a hotel restaurant. The service was friendly, but we got our appetizers immediately and had to wait a while to get our drinks, which messed up the usual rhythm of our meal. The menu is limited and not very imaginative. My salmon was beautifully seared but a little over cooked for my taste. My husband had no complaints about his steak, but didn’t rave either. The waiter was very nice about helping my husband figure out what non-alcoholic drink he could have and was happy that the bar offered a creative mocktail. The butter cake dessert was delicious (if quite sweet), which ended our dinner on a strong note. Solid restaurant but not worth a special trip.
We realize it was Christmas eve but we waited over an hour for our entrees. The pork chop was dry and tough, the top sirloin was super fatty and chewy. Appetizers, chowder and salads are fantastic. Servers kept forgetting us or trying to serve us other peoples orders.
Nicest restaurant in Amherst. Menu is always varied. Wine list and bar options are many. Never been disappointed.
EXPENSIVE for a limited menu. We had to send back the Ribeye, it was far from Med, it was "bleeding; took a while to get it back!
Beautiful old Inn dining room. From hostess to all servers, everything was excellent. Highly recommend for any occasion - date night, business dinner (which we had), to a group function.
Had a wonderful, delicious 3rd anniversary dinner there. The food was excellent and the service exceptional. We will definitely go back. I recommend this place
We had a fantastic night! The bartender was terrific - she recommended a great new gin and mixed a great martini. The server we had was pleasant, knowledgeable, and the perfect level of "there when we wanted him, not when we didn't." The atmosphere was both soothing and filled with ebullience. We had a really good meal and an overall great night. I highly recommend this place for either a festive or romantic night out.
Overall, a very good meal. There aren't many restaurants of this quality in the Amherst area. The hummus appetizer was delicious. The seafood stew was also delicious. My wife had the chicken which was just okay. Service was very courteous and efficient.
Thanksgiving dinner out is tough
No one wants to work it and the places that are open are often overwhelmed
That being said there was no management presence ( seating time)
And the food was awful
Inoffensive would have been an improvement
I’ve has better prepared better tasting food on the rubber chicken circuit
The goat cheese tarte was cold and stale
The turkey was not freshly sliced prepared in a way to make the diner think it WAS carved ( white and dark meat)
But the portion control aspect was clear as day and no fat no drippings translates to tasteless stuffing
My steak was cooked fresh and passable
The sides not
One passable dessert and the sorbet was a failed attempt at autumnal sophistication
Not a speck of bread offered
And a severely over priced wine list
Not a meal to be thankful for
Very fun, very yummy, excellent service!
Great place to meet friends. Looking forward to our next visit.
Fabulous experience Tuesday night. Food was excellent, Dave the waiter was amazing, the venue absolutely top shelf.
High recommend, but be sure to have a reservation.
A real Amherst treasure. The seafood stew is outstanding. The roasted beet salad delicious. We always look forward to coming here when we travel up from Manhattan.
My grandmother used to regularly visit the Lord Jeffery Inn during the 70s for lunch on drives between CT and NH. We wanted to see what motivated her to visit. We were delighted with every aspect of our brunch experience and it won’t be our last visit.
We had a wonderful evening and delicious dinner at 30 Boltwood! Millie was wonderful in accommodating our table and finding a wonderful spot for us. David was an incredibly attentive, professional, personable and fun waiter! He was very patient with our various requests and was also very good-natured. The food was delicious and the ambiance was wonderful! I would highly recommend this restaurant on all levels!
Loved it. Amazing breakfast. Came back twice in same day!
Wonderful food, great service, best ambiance in town.
Wonderful food, great atmosphere. Service was a little lacking...maybe new waiter. Missed opportunities to boost check total by not being attentive enough.
One of our favorites in Amherst. Well managed, experienced cheerful staff, dependably excellent cusine. Our party had both beef dishes, the pork chop, a salad and lobster roll combination, and everyone was well pleased with their meals. The various desserts and a well chosen wine list complemented all choices. Speaking for myself, the filet of beef, served rare as ordered, was exquisite.
Ambiance was great, but food portions were small, over medium was runny, water glasses not filled, and wrong bill was delivered.
Didn't live up to our expectations, based on score on OpenTable. It was OK. Just OK.
Thanks a lot for the hospitality and professionalism.
I found this gem of a restaurant during an online search for “good restaurants for lunch in Western Mass” and couldn’t be more thrilled! From the pictures on their impressive website to the variety of food offered, I knew I had to try it out. It DID NOT disappoint! The waitstaff was attentive but didn’t rush us and the food was perfect! The staff went above and beyond when I noted this was for a special occasion. I couldn’t have planned a better experience if I tried. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone & can’t wait to return! Thank you for one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.
Enjoyed Sunday brunch outside on the patio.
Lovely brunch - the menu covered the necessary brunch items, but with a New England flare - think local maple syrup and smoked pork loin. The speciality coffees were done well and the wait staff were attentive and friendly. We sat outdoors and it was lovely. Only problem was some late summer bees were also interested in our food, otherwise all was perfect.
Lovely dining room, excellent service BUT the noise from the bar is very loud. Every scoop of ice cubes, every shake of cocktail shaker is way too loud. All hard surfaces, very little noise abatement.
It was my mom’s 63rd Birthday. Anna was our server and she was awesome!! She was super friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for the birthday dessert with the candle. My mom loved it!! Thanks for making her birthday a memorable one.
We were outdoors which was as lovely. The table next to us was extraordinarily boisterous and so loud we could barely hear each other at our table. The server was very mice but not very attentive, I expect because the other table was very needy.
We were there for breakfast. Three of us were thrilled with our breakfast, one of whom has a food allergy and was easily accommodated. The forth in our party wasn't impressed, but he doesn't like seasoned food and complained about the potatoes.
Always a good spot for the area. Nice to see the larger menu.
Perfect location, food, and service for our event. Thank you so much!
Great service, menu has good depth of variety to cover tastes and budgets along with appetite level. Nice bar area, inside and outside dining. Very enjoyable and will return.
Went for an early dinner since we were close by. We were greeted and seated promptly. Found the menu interesting. Even though there are a relatively small number of selections they cover a wide variety of tastes. My wife had the salmon entree and throughly enjoyed it. I was torn between the fish and chips or the burger. Went with the burger on the recommendation of our server and was not disappointed. Prices were almost reasonable given the venue. We liked the comfort and calm during our time there. The staff was very attentive and informative. We would go back for that reason when the opportunity presenrs itself
The service was stellar,
the food was excellent, and the courtyard patio was a perfect spot for a romantic birthday dinner. It’s now our go- to for celebrations!
a simple menu, exquisitely prepared and served. Highly recommended.
Beautiful space and excellent cocktail, wine and beer lists. Food okay and nicely presented but not exciting. Summer menu needs more light, seasonal choices besides salads. And bring back the lunch menu burger at dinner!
Great food and service. Reason for 4 stars and not 5 is portion a bit small and steak a little over done.
