Great ambiance, great food. Perfect for date night!
This place is a classic and is always enjoyable! We sat on the back patio and had a delicious dinner!
The food was very good - loved the mussels and fries! Service was friendly albeit a bit slow but we weren’t in a hurry.
I would definitely recommend for a casual dinner outx
This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. Sadly, I will not return. I ordered two dishes: "roast vegetables with feta" was really a mushy tomato and eggplant stew; the halibut was chewy, and rested on a bed of overcooked beans in the same tomato stew as the first dish. I don't eat tomatoes. Servers were personable and helpful.
Fresh and delicious seasonal fare with fabulous, attentive service. Will absolutely be back!
What a pleasure to be back at A Coté. The food, as always, was fantastic for both the carnivores and the vegans in the group. Our server was very knowledgeable and knew the wine list almost by heart.
My only suggestion is that A Cote add some lighting to the three stairs in the hallway leading to rear patio. The lighting at A Cote is "mood" low, and our eyes did not adjust well to the dark hallway. Someone could trip on those stairs, easily. Be safe: install a low light to illuminate the steps. :)
Great ingredients prepared expertly. Sat out front in their parklet, so didn't get the full ambiance, but they did more than anywhere else I've seen to make the makeshift seating area comfortable, including cushions and curtains.
Mediocre food, pre-mixed cocktails, poor wine list, overpriced. Service is OK.
Just got back from dinner and my dining experience was absolutely appalling. To put it shortly, there were two huge shards of glass (about half a 3/4 of an inch each) in and on the outside of my glass of white wine. When I notified my server, he was slightly apologetic but ultimately nonchalant and rude when I requested a new glass for myself and my dining companion (note: there was a splash of red wine on the base of her glass that matched the stain on the broken shard outside of mine… we were both drinking Sauvignon blanc).
The waiter bluntly explained that there was an accident at the bar, as if that were a justifiable reason for an extreme safety hazard being served to a customer.
This experience contributed to an otherwise mediocre dining experience where quality of food and especially service did not match price.
The meal itself was uncohesive and subpar, with some dishes being overly salted and others being bland.
This was my first time back at À Côté in a couple years and the experience did not live up to memories. Disappointed and upset.

Waitress was excellent; space arrangements were very good. The food was just so-so. The halibut was cooked too long and very dry. The vichyssoise, while tasty, did not taste like potatoes, and the fat from the cold cream that had been added, coated the inside of our mouths, rather than being emulsified with the potatoes and leeks. The ribs were very good and the frites were tiny and crisp and disappeared very quickly.
My favorite place for business discussions
Lovely back patio. Wines by the glass were very good, as was the food.
The place has gone up a notch. Are used to go every other Friday night. The ribs were incredible, the pizza with a fresh Salad on top and super muscles with french fries. Just great fun. Knowledgeable waiter.
Although the menu never ever seems to change, a visit to A Cote always results in a good meal in a restaurant with great ambience. I wish the wine list had a few more dependable/ familiar wines on it however! Their "go to wines" come from countries less well known for their wines like Croatia, turkey, Greece so my experience selecting a good wine, as a result, has always been hit or miss.
We sat outside in front and it was very comfortable!! Food, cocktails, and service were all outstanding!!
Excellent Service - Excellent Location, and outside dining option, where they keep it spread out enough for the time being, and cozy for those missing each other and wanting to catch up. Excellent Summer salad with watermelon.
Great food and ambiance. Service was outstanding!
Birthday Dinner. Always a good meal and perfect service
An awesome anniversary experience; felt safe, sat at the bar, great ambiance, fantastic drinks and food, happy wife. A wonderful all around experience!
A Cote, was a wonderful bistro with excellent professional wait staff and friendly atmosphere. We had early dinner before concert @ Greek. creative craft cocktails with a varied wine list were a great start to evening! The salad, pate, pork tenderloin with stone fruit& of course amazing French fries were delicious! We left very happy!
Surprisingly good! Ate on back patio outside, which was very nice. There were only a modest number of food choices, but they were very good and quite imaginative, though not haute cuisine of course. The Greek flatbread sausage-goat cheese pizza was a very tasty departure from typical Italian pizzas; the cucumbers(!) and spiced mushrooms vegetarian flatbread/pizza was terrific. Who would have thunk? My companions also said the pork main dish they had was great and very much liked the seasonal salad (with watermelon, etc.) and the chocolate mousse they had for dessert. Even the bread was quite good and the service we experienced (soon after the restaurant opened, so early) was very satisfactory.
A few minor caveats. The cocktails we had were weak and rather bland. The wine list was pretty limited. And the house pâté was actually a terrine, not a pâté -- there's a big difference. It was still very good, but obviously not what I expected. They should know better. Finally, do note that as the restaurant website says, the food is Mediterranean, so Greek, Spanish, French, etc., inspired not just Italian as some Google hits characterize it.
Bottom line: We will go again.
EXcellent, as always. ………………,,,***
A Cote is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the mussels and french fries and cocktails.
ACote has excellent food and service and great wines and specialty drinks. Options are wonderful for safe dining outside on the street or in the back open space covered patio. The waitstaff are very knowledgeable about their menu and drinks. This is my go-to place for guests and new to the area visitors. Thank you Acote
Our server was a gem! The food was ok, but nothing particularly noteworthy.
Wonderful restaurant with a very interesting wine list. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our food was wonderful. The mussels were some of the best I've ever eaten! The steak was perfection.
My favorite restaurant- great food, wine, and service.
The food here is delicious! We had the halibut which was cooked to perfection, and the pork tenderloin. They put the “tender” in tenderloin! My disappointment was that I had reserved an outdoor table for this birthday dinner (during COVID) and was expecting their patio. I have been to their back patio before and it is a really wonderful atmosphere. But when we arrived and saw they had also created a parklet out front on the street, I requested the back patio. The hostess said there was nothing available there. We could see the place was not busy yet (at 6pm), so I asked again letting her know that when you make the reservation, you can choose outdoor, but there is no way to specify the back patio. She didn’t budge, which frustrated me because I felt she could have made it happen. The parklet was fine, but NOT why I chose outdoor there. Honestly, I would have gone elsewhere had I known. I wanted a nice atmosphere on my special day. I always hate reviews that complain about waitstaff, hosts or bartenders, but sometimes it’s enough to make or break the experience. Not sure if I’ll go back now. Suggestion: give a discount on the bill for those sitting out on the street. It’s pricey here, but when you’re inside or on the back patio, it’s worth the price.
We appreciated being seated at a large table even though there were just 2 in our party. The cocktails were on point, the service incredible and the cheese plate and mussels were fantastic. I also appreciate that they require proof of vaccination and/or negative cover test for patrons eating in the main dining room. I appreciate the restaurant making every effort to make sure people can dine safely!
Great service and every plate showed amazing attention to detail.
Absolutely the best outdoor dining in the East Bay! After a few years of disappointing food and spotty service, A Cote is back!
Everyone is getting used to the transition back. This is a wonderful restaurant and we will be back
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable patio in a friends home. Happy hour special with house wine was great value. Halibut and greek flatbread are good too.
A Cote is both intimate and casual. It’s staff is friendly and attentive. The room is cozy and quiet enough for an intimate conversation. The menu is full of traditional French bistro dishes and more inventive, local cuisine. The wine list is largely European but includes bottles from Georgia and Croatia. Had a wonderful date.
I’ve eaten here many times but the food Has risen to a new level. The choice and flavors were wonderful. A great place to reunite. Lots of outdoor seating.
The food and drink were all divine! Even better than I remember pre-pandemic.
the outdoor setting was really beautiful, and the food delicious.
my favorite unique place for special dinners, business dinners and out of town guests. one of the best of Oakland.
