Excellent food and wine, but expect high end prices. My wife and I ran up $145 bill, but we went all in with appetizers, entrees, dessert, wine, and tip. This price point isn’t for everyone. My wife and I have two smaller children and don’t get out much so we didn’t mind the splurge otherwise this place might be reserved for special occasions on our normal budget. I guess you could just go with pizza and a couple of cocktails for a more reasonable bill. Everything was great, service was a bit slow in the beginning, but that improved as the night continued. I don’t think it was the norm since everything improved. Overall it was a quality evening with great food, and we will visit again. Looking forward to the outside space this summer.
Food was excellent but needs restaurant needs improvement on ambience. Lighting was way too bright and TVs should not have been present and turned on in a fine dining establishment. Would recommend trying out this new restaurant in Batavia.
Food was great. Kind of cold where we are sitting. Service was very good.
We were there for New Years Eve and had a wonderful dinner. Our server, Shay was fabulous! She was so very nice and personable, they are very lucky to have her as part of their team!
The food was excellent, but the service wasn’t very good. It was slow and took a lot of time to get drinks. Since my son never got a glass of wine he asked for, he ended up going to the bar and getting it himself.
I had reservations for my two kids and I on Christmas Eve. We were sat in the bar at a high top which was very disappointing because I had reservations and two kids who shouldn’t have been in the bar. It took 20 minutes to have our waitress come to the table and then didn’t see her again the entire meal. The food was amazing and I understand that it was Christmas Eve, however, still disappointed.
We've been going to AcquaViva in Maple Park for years so we thought we'd try the location in Batavia.
Not impressed. The website indicates "business casual" -- it's definitely not business casual - jeans & t-shirt is fine. Service was a bit slow, especially since it wasn't that busy. We asked for addl salad dressing for our Cesar salad and never did get it. The food & wine are fabulous, as always, but the ambiance was lacking. This was our first and will be our last visit to the Batavia location - we'll stick with the more upscale Maple Park location that has fantastic ambiance and just as good of food. Oh - and once inside the ladies bathroom, the door knob is literally hanging on by a thread. Can't believe that wasn't immediately addressed.
A very pleasant surprise as this was our first visit and we definitely will be coming back. Food was excellent, drinks as well and reasonably priced and service was outstanding. Our waitress was very willing to work with our pace, set largely by drinks and conversation with friends. She checked now and then and responded to our queues. Overall, a really great dining experience.
The restaurant was very accommodating. The food was delicious and the wine wonderful.
Service was top notched and the staff was ready for us when we arrived on time.
It was a little hard to find and the entry was very dark. Christmas lights would have enhanced the stairs and surrounding uneven blacktop.
I like to see where I’m going and not fall.
Would rate zero starts if Open Table would let me. Wanted to dine at Veritas, but due to its unfortunate closing, we made a reservation at Acquaviva. WOW talk about second best! Showed up on time for our 6:15 reservation party of three - myself, my wife, and eight year old daughter. They were busy, so we waited patiently. Meanwhile, larger parties were seated ahead of us. It soon became obvious that no table was available for us. After twenty minutes of waiting (nothing offered for our trouble - no water, no appetizer, etc as often happens in other, better establishments, such as Veritas) we were finally shoved into the far corner of the bar, underneath a TV blaring obnoxious Holiday music. Unsatisfied, we left and had a nice dinner at El Taco Grande, 6 N. River Street, Batavia. I highly recommend El Taco Grande over Acquaviva! In fact, Acuaviva Batavia is going to have to work very hard to earn my business again. Stay away if you actually want to eat a meal.
Wonderful food, terrific service - you will love it.
Vickie was awesome once again!
Always good. A favorite restaurant for a really good meal. Fish, chicken, steak all great.
Great food, fresh seafood and pasta, great meatballs! Great wine pairing with specials!
Went on a Friday night for a first date, ambiance was great and had live music, still able to have a conversation though. Service was great and the food was perfect, actually portion size was more than I had expected, i Havel already recommended it to my friends
The stuffed artichoke appetizer is delicious! Our waitress was on top of things and provided great service.
It was an okay experience. But the restaurant was run like it just opened, rather than being open for a couple years. It took a while to get a server. Other things... 1) the specials were a handwritten copy - so unprofessional, 2) the place settings were set incorrect and we didn't even all have the proper silverware, 3) we had to ask for salt and pepper, it strangely wasn't on the table, 4) we were told there was no drink menu, though there is a whole list of great drinks on the website, we were finally given the "only" copy in the entire restaurant, 5) our drink orders were messed up and when we did get them the martinis were not that good - especially not for the price, 6) they ran out of certain types of pasta - how does this happen?... it overall was just a rough experience for our group. The food was tasty, but it was just over priced for the level of service and the lack of professional dining experience. It was unfortunate...
My food was a little overdone the alfredo sauce was pasty and the pasta looked like it has dried out waiting to be served. My husband enjoyed his grouper. Portions were just right. The room was cold...several people kept their coats on as we did. All in all we would try it again.
Place was vary cold and noisy
food was excellent and services was good
Drinks where way to expensive ($13.00 Cosmo ridicules )if I go back I will only drink water
Food & service were outstanding! Our only complaint was about the mostly non-heated side porch making us cold... Side note: owner said they were working on that issue.
Very pricey!!! The food was good but it was just a little too expensive. And the wine list was really small.
Food is fantastic, so is the wine and all the servers are friendly and accommodating! Hope this place stays put!!
We started with soup, tasted good and loaded with vegetables, but both bowls were cold. I got a glass of rose, which they produce themselves- it was fruity, sweet, and enjoyable and a pizza. The pizza was middle of the road. Next time, I will order off the regular menu. My wife enjoyed the whitefish, but they needed to do a better job in removing the skin (it was left on intermittently).
The restaurant is loud and drafty , be sure to dress warmly if it is cold outside.
We enjoy the flavor of the pizza, however, this is the second time we have ordered pizza and they did something wrong. First time, it was not on thin crust. This time they forgot the green peppers and the double crust was burnt on the bottom. Hopefully the third time it will all be perfect!
Great place to pick up Italian food in Batavia. The pizza at other tables looked great, and every item we had was great!
Everything was very good, except when the check came, a 20% tip had already been added in. Only my wife and I, so no large group to justify this. That is ridiculous. I couldn’t believe it. NO restaurant has eve done this to us before. What’s the purpose of a tip anyway, if not for the CUSTOMER - not the restaurant - to judge the service.
Great food, service and wine!
Enjoyed our outdoor table on a beautiful afternoon. Server was very attentive. Delicious pizza and salads!
Fantastic place! Great food and great service! Can't wait to come back!
The food was good--maybe not the best, but very good. Service was good.
Celebrated my wife's and a friends birthday there. they could not be more accommodating
The hole evening was great
Well Done *
As other reviews have noted, Aquaviva needs to step up their game a little- while the reservation clearly said 'Birthday', and table requested outside, the hostesses were clueless, asking where we wanted to be seated. No mention made of a birthday celebration.
The server, Jeremy, was excellent! Attentive, hands-off when need be, and pretty perfect in every way.
The FOOD: two Caesar salads, rather bland with odd tasting croutons. Not enough dressing to even taste it. Large for side salads, could have split one. The entrees came before we had a chance to half finish the salads. One Sausage and Pepper with mashed potatoes- the peppers were of a stir-fry consistency, almost crisp. I would have liked to see them cooked down a lot more to blend their flavor with the sausages, which were way too spicy. One Chicken Part, which was the highlight of the meal. Chicken done crispy on the outside yet moist and tender on the inside. Sauce was nicely done, all the flavors coming through equally. Both portions were huge, so I guess that's a plus.
I think Aquaviva has room to improve, but I also think they'll get there. A good start!
Food was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back as there are so many delicious options. staff was friendly and most attentive without being obnoxious. Loved the various seating options.
Good food. Came out quickly. Staff was kind but young and inexperienced. No one came to check on us after we got our food. We did not get plates with our pizza so we had to use our bread plates that had oil on them. We would have asked for plates, but no one came back. There was a lot of staff but they seemed disorganized. Didn't seem like they were assigned to specific tables so we were offered water 3x by 3 different people and then after food was delivered, despite 5 staff nearby, no one came over. I would go back because the food was good and there wasn't a wait.
Great food and service!!
We both had the chicken picatta. It came to our table very hot which I like. The chicken was rather bland, but the roasted potatoes were very good and the sauteed vegetables were excellent. The salad portions are very generous. We shared the Caesar salad. It was also very good. The service was good! It’s a noisy place and the tables are quite close together. I will go back and give it another try.
The exterior and interior including bathroom was not very nice. Very crowded in the dining area. Service was fair. It seemed as if everyone was a bit confused. When I made reservation with open table, I noted it was our anniversary and it was not mentioned. Most restaurants would give a complimentary dessert at the least. Food was excellent. Huge portions! Menu is limited but they did accommodate and made something off the menu. Wine just ok. Special shout out to the grandchildren of the owner. Very personable and aimed to please.
This time and all other times were a perfect experience! Staff honestly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and how to make a customer happy !
Service was spot on . Great pizza and very good Italian dishes
First of all we sat outside. It was a lovely evening but not enough lighting for when it started to get dark. The food and wine were excellent. The waitress was great at first but later on we did not see her much. I do not know if she was working inside and outside but otherwise I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends.
