The restaurant was very nice with highly quality food, excellent service and delicious food.
Great food and service!
Excellent experience. Can’t wait to go back.
Best steak we’ve had in the city; service was great
I chose tasting menu. The steak was amazing, but other courses were really sub par for the price point, especially the appetizer.
Great time however, a customer was allowed to come in with a dog and it walked over the seats etc. I don’t agree with allowing dogs in a restaurant of this caliber, unless a seeing eye dog which this wasn’t.
The Ribeye was juicy, perfectly-cooked, and flavorful, and my friend’s filet was the best steak he’d ever had and he loved it so much he wanted one to take home.
The complimentary cotton candy was a nice finish to dinner. The service that I received was attentive and pleasant if not a tad over-the-top.
My friend’s sea bass could’ve fit in her pocket and there was nothing special about it.
They virtually ignored her the entire time in favor of deferring to me on literally everything, which was odd and felt disrespectful. I’m not sure if this is general practice and we weren’t in the loop, but it shouldn’t be.
All in all, definitely great for steak as always, but other options aren’t that great and the service is sort of peculiar.
If you’re there a little early they’ll try to seat you closer to your reservation time. The restroom is upstairs but everyone was really friendly and helpful. And the food was great.
excellent food. excellent suggestions by the waiter. excellent service. all around an excellent experience. will definitely return.
We had a nice time. But for all the service people, I am not sure why it took over 15 minutes to get my cocktail which was just a simple martini. Enjoyed the food but not sure I would pay full price.
Some of the nicest steaks we've had in SF. Very friendly staff
Sublime - chef’s five course tasting menu with wine pairing. Does not get much better than this!
Really enjoyed the food and ambiance.
My husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary at Alexander’s! We were very impressed with the knowledgeable staff who gave us great recommendations for wine and food! I tasted wagu for the first time and it was heavenly! Every bite completely melted in my mouth! We also enjoyed the Happy Anniversary card- unexpected but super sweet! Thank you for a memorable evening!
Outstanding dinning experience. All the wait staff was super attentive and accommodating. The quality of the food was 5 star! Great for special occasions. It is pricy but well worth the cost.
Best Service, Excellent Food!
Overpriced and overrated
Otherwise the food and service were very good
We have a Travelzoo coupon for a 5 course dinner. Food are fantastic. The restaurant let us exchanged chocolate dessert for Souffle. Fantastic.
My boyfriend and I went here for dinner before a show at the Golden Gate Theater and it was excellent. It was our anniversary and the staff was so nice bringing us each a free glass of bubbly and appetizer. The food was exceptional, both of our steaks were cooked to protection. And the wait staff was efficient, knowledgable and quick. Great experience and would definitely dine there again.
the cocktail was not good. steaks were great. went for my partners bday and he really enjoyed it
Amazing service and fantastic food. Our server was very friendly and knew his stuff. The himachi shot was well worth getting at least two per person. Squash blossom would outstanding! Also the fries were really, really good. Obviously the steaks were wonderful.
Cocktails were also really nice. Deserts were good. Everything was enjoyable.
I highly recommend Alexander's.
Could not fault this place at all. Service was fantastic some of the best we’ve had. Food was delicious and the restaurant was beautifully designed
Fabulous food, great service.
I love this place. The food is always spectacular as is the service. Great steaks! So, if you're going to go plan on eating steak. Great attention to detail. Despite this, they are really over priced.
Phenomenal service! Probably the best I’ve ever had in my life! The food was absolutely delicious. It is very pricey though! Just know that going in and you’ll have an amazing time.
The service seemed off last night from the check in girl who wished me a Happy Birthday and then the same girl brought the birthday card to my wife. It was literally 5 minutes in between, weird!! Our waiter seemed off his game as well, didn't really seem to know what was going on in the kitchen, during our meal he had to check 3 times with them about our inquiries. This is why this place doesn't have a Michelin star. The food is great, especially the wagyu, the sides, hamachi shots, spot prawns , and the beef and uni toast. Everything was great but the service was lacking at a restaurant where we spent $800 for the 2 of us. There are lots of other places where we spend that kind of money and have a better overall experience.
Needlessly expensive wine list so bring your own bottle. Our waiter asked if we wanted our filet steaks “with or without the bone,” and when I asked the difference, he said the one with the bone was more flavorful, neglecting to mention that it also costs a lot more. They give you a lot of little extras, like an appetizer cheese cracker placed on your plate reverently with tongs, and a poached carrot cube with tiny little fried onions on top, then pink cotton candy and a marshmallow for dessert, but not sure this justifies the meal cost. My steak was, however, indeed very flavorful, and the sides were all great. We had the haricots verts, chanterelle mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The pisco soufflé we shared for dessert was fantastic. We each had a cocktail and ordered a moderately priced wine, but our bill was $700 for 3 people, so this should give you some idea why I think this was not a great value.
Excellent food. Service was superb. The waiters were very friendly and informative. They took the time to explain the menu and had excellent knowledge.
We were a large table and we did not get service of the price we pay
Service was very slow . Had to remind the server for my order of sides. Not as nice as it used to be .
My husband and I went with two friends last Saturday (Sept. 30th). We had a very pleasant experience. The portions were of decent size for the salads and the entrees. The dessert portions are quite small, however. A great place to go for a splurge meal.
Service is exceptional - like you’re eating at a three Michelin star restaurant. Lots of small extras. Loved everything. Food is amazing. I cannot wait to return.
Dinner was great. Celebrating a birthday. Staff made Birthday person feel special all night.
Menu limited for side dishes.
Went here to celebrate my partner's birthday. Excellent service the moment we stepped into the restaurant. Our host was informative and attentive to our needs, as well as made excellent recommendations. The menu looks to be smaller than the one in South Bay, but there were still great options available. The service was slower paced compared to usual restaurants (we were here for just over 2 hours), but with the appetizers and complimentary bites in between courses, we didn't mind at all. Ambiance is nice and spacious, and all sorts of people were here for dinner. I would recommend this place to my friends and family for special occasions, as the bill does add up quickly, but is completely worth it for the entire atmosphere, service, and quality of food.
The boyfriend and I came here for our "unofficial" anniversary dinner, and Alexander's offered us complimentary champagne, dessert (with a candle and BEAUTIFUL handwriting), and even an anniversary card! The service throughout the night was also excellent. We tasted the Chef's Menu, which included a hamachi shot (fish tasted so fresh!), corn soup (YUM), bread roll with wagyu butter (umm, YES), fish (not my favorite), filet mignon (cooked really well), a chocolate dessert (with pop rocks! So yummy if you love sweets), and lastly, a huge cotton candy. A nice restaurant overall worth trying.
We were SUPER disappointed!! Expected something on the level of a Morton's or Ruth's Chris. We found Alexander's to be noisy and bright. They put some disgusting sweet sauce on my filet mignon. Why would anyone do that?!?!?! I would never go there again, especially for the $$$ . Glad I had a gift certificate, so I pretty much just forked over for a nice tip for our server. I had no problem with our server, just the rest.
This is a great place for a nice dinner. The food and drinks are exceptional quality, the staff members are attentive and professional. We had the dry-age T-bone and filet mignon done medium-rare. The steaks were both perfectly cooked and tasted melts-in-your-mouth marvelous. I hear they also have a Sunday $55 prime rib deal that I might do one day. This is a top-5 best steak house in SF.
This was the best dining out experience we ever had. Came here for my boyfriends birthday and he felt more than special. Kevin has a great host and very attentive! Thank you, Alexander’s for the amazing experience.
Food like always was amazing, and service top notch!
