Need additional servers on holidays ( Fathers Day )
It was daggers day we went w our kids and it was pretty spectacular. Made reservations abt a week a head and waited abt 20 min not bad waiter was really good and timing was efficient
We waited at least 35 minutes past our reservation time.
We also waited a very long time for our meals.
It was Father’s Day so we expected it to be crowded so that was no surprise. Service was terrible, no drink refills given, steaks horribly over cooked, two filets ordered medium looked like charcoal, and they also ran out of baked potatoes and we were not told until the food was brought to the table.
everything was very good, good food,polite service, the place was a little dark.
Food was delicious and superb and the staff so kind and professional.

Food was very bland, no taste at all. Steak was dry and chewy. Very disappointed.
A friend highly recommended Al's Char to me and my family and we decided to give it a try last weekend. The place is nice, ample dinning area and nice decor. The attention was good, we were explained our options regarding appetizers, drinks, side dishes, etc. The food however wasn't good at all! My stuffed chicken was very dry and tasteless, my husband's steak was cold and not flavorful, my son was not happy with his order either. We left feeling disappointed and will not return.
The waiter was very pleasant, professional and insightful. I'll be going back soon. And the menu was very diverse and appetizing !

Delicious! So much food for the price! My son and his wife shared ka-bobs and it was enough for them to take left overs home! I had a filet mignon and it was fantastic and cooked just like I asked!
The food was excellent, filet was cooked perfectly. Margaritas were great as well. But service lacked throughout the entire restaurant. Despite multiple open tables. People were constantly waiting for tables throughout the night despite multiple open tables throughout the restaurant. Most tables were sitting with the last guest food/drinks for over 45 minutes without being cleaned up. From sitting down to getting our food ordered it took over 30 minutes. Severely short handed!
One of the worst experiences I've ever had! Even with a reservation I waited an hour and a half to be seated. The management was nonexistant and when i finally got him out onto the floor he was extremely unhelpful. The service and food were great but the way we were treated, our should i say completely ignored, for almost two hours ruined the experience.
The hostess showed extreme patience with the zoo like waiting area,insufficient waitstaff for the amount of patrons in attendance, which resulted in empty tables with no one available to service them,which resulted in much LONGER wait times. It took one hour past our reservation time before we were seated. Our waitress was very pleasant and as efficient as she could be despite the increased workload due to insufficient staffing. Our food was very good.
Not sure if I would after my experience on Mother's day. Under staffed, waited 1:15 to be served our main course and it wasn't the way we ordered our food.
Poor experience! My family had a reservation for Mother's Day. They sat us approx 50 minutes after the reservation time. It took an additional 20 minutes for my family to be greeted by a server as they forgot about us! They apologized and said that it was busy. We ordered drinks which took another 15 minutes. Then ordered our food and an appetizer. The appetizer, salads and soup arrived in about 20 minutes. The salads were quite watery (lettuce was resting in a pool of water). Approx one hour after we ordered our main course I asked to speak to the manager. A gentleman came to our table listened to our concerns and stated that there were "mass call ins" and that he wasn't even the manager. He told us that he worked in another restaurant and they were "desperate" for help so they incentivized him to assist the for evening. When we received our individual entrees they were ordered incorrectly and cold. From the steaks to the potatoes. Nothing was warm. The server asked if we would like complimentary desserts for our inconvenience. My family was so upset and tired that we didn't want to eat anything so we took our leftovers and carrot cake to go. My mother and I went to use the facilities and while we were in the restroom multiple patrons were so upset some saying they were refusing to pay along with others saying that they heard "the place had changed" but were in awe to how terrible the service was. The unfortunate situation is that I once remember that AL's was a great place to take your family, friends, and clients and I now only remember a place that is unorganized and has poor service. I will not recommend AL's Char House to any friends, family, or clients in the near future. We had a 5:30pm reservation and did not walk out of the restaurant until 9:05!!! Additionally, my husband is a local executive for a large manufacturing co. and LaGrange chamber member. He will be bringing this experience to the next committee meeting.
We were able to get reservations at the last minute on a Saturday night. We were amazed to see the size of the steaks! There were huge. My husband ordered the ribs and shrimp. I ordered the small prime rib. We also had a blooming onion. It was better than the Outback's onion! The portions are big and the food is very, very, good! We will definately go back.
It was really really good the steak was good the bread was real good and the drink was good
Great service, very good food with large portions. Ceilings a little low but that can be expected when your on the lower level. Overall very good to excellent experience.
My steak was pretty dry, the onion blossom was fried to a crisp.
Over the top expensive. This is an old school steak house but priced like a Michelin Star high end restaurant. The food was average in flavor. Lobster tail had little taste but the very plentiful chicken kabobs were quite good.
Inhad reservations and I was a few minutes late but we were greeted with a smile and sat down right away.
Server came quickly and served drinks within minutes

First time taking other family members with us. They loved it, they had recently had a bad experience at a steak restaurant in Phoenix, AZ and really appreciated the great food and service at Al’s
Al's was a very good experience overall. Sure would have been nice if our reservation was there when we got there. Luckily, they weren't very busy.
More then enough food, great size portions. Could use a little more lighting, way too dark.
SOOO disappointed!!! I guess I should have paid attention to the other reviews posted that talked about the slow service. We had a 7pm reservation on a Saturday nite, got seated right away. Place was moderately busy, but nobody came for our drink order for a long time. Drinks took forever to arrive, and then long pause between then and taking our orders and then huge interval until our food arrived. It took us 3 hours to enjoy drinks and dinner entrees, not even dessert! Service was horrific, everything at a snail's pace, took forever, there was one male waiter just standing around chatting to another waitress but not doing a thing. Our food took forever to arrive. We were honestly afraid to order dessert because we thought it would take another hour! Service was unacceptably slow. Food was decent but not worth the wait. Unless you have all the time in the world and don't care, avoid this place! Wait staff clearly doesn't care about timeliness. I say to the restaurant manager and owners, sit down at a table and order a meal, and observe what is happening!!! You are losing customers. We won't be back. Sorry.
Very pleasantly surprised how big and bright Al's is considering its in the basement. We had a great table and the meal was delicious. Very generous portions and our waitress was great! We will definitely return.

Great steaks cooked to perfection. I had the rib eye and my daughter had the New York strip cooked to a perfect medium rare the way steaks are meant to be. Looking forward to father's day
Great restaurant with great food and the portions are big, so bring your appetite. My husband enjoyed his 56oz steak for his birthday, it took him two days to finish it. I have recommended this place to all my family and friends.
Very cool place, food was not what I expect at that price. Steaks were too thick for my taste but thats personal preference. The veggies were fantastic! Right taste and not over cooked. However, the special whipped potatoes were dry and over baked. The reputation and hype didnt live up to the experience.
Steak tasted fishy, not sure if it was cooked next to my shrimp I ordered.
Food was OK. The value was not there. The jack Daniel's steak lacked seasoning. The sides were average. The margarita was 15 dollars and didn't even contain a premium spirit.
I used to go to Al's a lot, years ago so I thought since we were going to be in the area, let's go. The food was awful! I was so disappointed. Everything else was fine..no issues except with the food. I dont think I have ever disliked my food so much.
We went with low expectations because my husband is NEVER able to order a steak and have it cooked as he orders it. His steak was cooked PERFECTLY as was our entire party. The food was delicious, and we will definitely be back again!
I haven’t been here in over 10 years. I moved out of the area but always wanted to go back. So last week, I finally traveled about an hour to get there. The menu was the same- not much has changed. The decor is the same as well. Our waiter was nice and attentive. My French onion was delish! Very cheesy- but a tad on the salty side. Our table side bread was hot and a perfect addition to the soup or salad. My ribeye was cooked to perfection. My whipped potatoes were a bit heavy on the bacon. All I tasted was bacon. The flavor of the potato was lost. The carrots were too sweet. Way too much sugar on those carrots!
All in all, it was a great steak. I will definitely make the trip back out there. Next time I will just order the baked potato Instead.
Boyfriend ordered their 55oz sirloin medium. It came out in 20 mins charred on the outside but raw on the inside. He politely asked they cook it a little while longer and it came out again burnt and charred beyond belief and still raw on the inside. The manager who dropped it off said “well it’s better that way” when he told her he ordered it medium. We’ll go to better steak houses from now on if we want a 50 dollar steak cooked right.

Asked for my steak to be cooked at medium, it wasn’t served that way. I had it sent back and when it came back , it was burnt and tough to chew. Our waiter Ricardo (I think) was awesome, though.
We both ordered a surf & turf. The steak was good but the lobsters was overcooked and NO melted butter was brought. Maybe that is the way lobster is served here. Next time we'll just stick with steaks at this steakhouse since we have been here before and the steaks are good.
