Amber India - San Francisco

Food excellent!Best restaurant for Indian food!
The food was incredible, and the service was excellent. I can’t recall the server’s name, but she was a pretty blond with an Eastern European accent. She made some great recommendations, most of which we ordered. We got the samosas and lamb to start. The lamb could have been a bigger portion, but the flavors were there. For dinner, we opted for family style. We got tandoori chicken (yum!), biryani (good), butter chicken (good), awadhi lamb korma (incredible!), and naan. Everything was lovely, and we loved the variety. Highly recommend!
Booked a table for 8 for a work dinner. The food was incredible, the restaurant is beautiful, and everybody had a great time.
Never a bad moment at this place. Food is always amazing.
Food service was a bit slow but food was good. Seating is a little cramped.
Skip the buffet lunch. Small table area, and a long line. Not a relaxing place for lunch with colleagues or friends.
We went on a recommendation from our concierge at the Fairmont. We loved it. The buttery chicken curry was the best curry we’ve had. So good.
Should have more knowledgeable servers. Very slow service.
Absolutely my most favorite restaurant in the City. The food is consistently excellent, service is prompt and efficient. I took two friends who had never eaten Indian food before and they made sure to take home our leftovers.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Line to buffet was extremely long due to VM world conference
Like the past few times I was there, the food and service is really top notch. It gets crowded real fast so don't even try it going without reservation. Food arrived pretty quickly for the variety of things we ordered and did not miss a beat. They constantly filled our water and asking about any other needs. Overall the waiting staff is very professional and super friendly and eager to make suggestions on the menu if needed. Highly recommend for any one visiting the SF Market Street area.
We were a group of five. We were seated right next to the buffet table where it was noisy. We have to talk loud to each other. Initially when we asked our alternate seating arrangement, the host refused. We made reservations 24 hours in advance hoping that we will get a nice spot. I feel there is no point in making advance reservation as the host provided a poorly located table for us.
Great food and service. Perhaps the best Indian in SF.
The food was overpriced for what really was served at the table. Would you believe that one order of tandoori chicken was four small pieces of chicken with no vegetables or other sides for $25.00?
The physical appearance of the dining room indicated a need for some scrubbing and repair work to be done on the furniture.
It was an embarrassment to take our friend and his wife there to celebrate his 91 st birthday.
Third time at Amber India and the food has been excellent every time.
The chicken curry we ordered was watery & lacked flavour. The sweet lasso was 90% water. I have never had such pathetic lassi ever.
Tandoori wasn't great it was tough seemed over cooked, naan was really good
The food is not bad, but VERY expensive for Indian food. Paid like $40 per person for lunch...
Incredible food, service, and ambiance. Expensive, but well worth it!
Very nice place. Friendly service. Delicious food.
Warm and welcoming service, delicious foods, great atmosphere and tremendous value. Very happy we came!
Our meal was wonderful. ..fish dinners for my companions, vegetarian for me. Everything was perfect!
Uchhi Dukaan; Phike Pakwaan!!
The restaurant was full to capacity. The noise level was fairly high. I would have liked to see a lamb dish or two. The fish was excellent As was the eggplant and potato dish.
Very loud. Seated beside another guest who spoke loudly and constantly making it impossible to talk to my husband or to enjoy our meal.
Love this elegant place! Actually just stayed in the bar and ordered the yummy appetizers...and drinks
My fav is the pesto nan! ❤️
It’s all hype! Food was crap for the price paid. It’s definitely not authentic!!! They need to get a better chef! Complete rip off!
Great food, probably the best Indian food in the world !!
Great food and service !!
Comfort food with a modern twist. Service was exceptional. Highly recommend the palak chaat as a starter.
The food, as always was excellent, the service Martin and colleagues provided impeccable, but the sound made conversation very difficult. Also, the stairs going down into the main dining area need to be better lighted.
Nice tasty food and wonderful service.
Great spot for a work lunch or dinner, or a nice dinner with friends.
The quality of food has gone down drastically in the past couple of years. Not what it used to be at all. Extremely stuffy and smelly inside.
It was grear
Great flavorful food
Great service and absolutely delicious food!
The food was great, service was friendly and quick. It was around 7 pm and it felt like we were being hurried a little bit, in order to accommodate others :)
I love this restaurant - delicious food, great service and lovely, quiet ambience
The butter chicken with the panner stuffed naan is my favorite meal in Amber. It is a cool place to have lunch and dinner
