I really appreciate the creativity of the menu, the execution. It makes dining there special.
Our party of 2 went for Sunday brunch. The food was outstanding - French toast with shaved nuts and FRESH fruits, and a breakfast burrito. Perfect serving size, brought out in timely fashion. The breakfast mimosas were wonderful - especially the pomegranate mimosa. Our servers were very attentive and couldn't have been nicer. We'll definitely be back!
Excellent food and our server clearly knew the menu well. He was pleasant and helpful in guiding selections.
Delicious. Recommend cauliflower & chili relleno.
My friend and I had a wonderful experience, from the carrot and Serrano pepper soup brought before we even ordered drinks, to the amazing espresso tres leches cake brought for dessert. Our server was so nice, and the food was incredibly flavorful. I would recommend every single dish we had. We will be coming back again and again. Oh, and the drinks, just like everything else, absolutely delicious!!!
The food was delicious, the service was very good - overall an excellent experience.
best food i have had in a while. The service was a bit lacking and the bar tender was slow
The food is excellent here! Fresh ingredients and lovely flavors. As a vegetarian, it is easy to find good choices.
GREAT place. So glad this place was recommended to me by one of my residents who lives in Oak Park and told me that this is THE best restaurant in OP. I would actually rank this mean up there with some of the best I've had in Chicago where I reside. The meats were all very well cooked. The Risotto was amazing. The combinations were lovely. Everything was very interesting. Would return, definitely.
The food was great but they were really understaffed which made for an unfortunate experience.
Good food however there were 10+ tables and only 1 server so it was a little bit of a disaster.
Great experience and food. Chef came to our table to say hello. Great experience.
V-day this year was our 2nd visit to this restaurant since its opening in Oak Park about 2 years ago and we were just as impressed. The experience is unique in that the plates are made for sharing however don't think tapas. Each plate is a meal in itself however part of the fun is ordering a few and sampling the amazing tastes. The chef/owner is a very unassuming, humble man with some mad culinary skills and his dishes are rife in the complexity of their flavors as well as their presentations. The menu has obvious Latin inspirations and a quick read of it will reveal ingredients that we've all seen before-calamari, Chili Relleno, Carne Asada, etc. What you will not believe is how this chef has transformed these simple items into entrees having such rich and complex tastes.
Wine selection is great, liquors are all local, nice sized bar. Artwork is all original. Cool, darkish, kinda modern vibe, mos def easy on the eyes.
Service has been great on both of our visits.
This restaurant can be a bit on the noisy side and is definitely not for kids of any age.
We go to Amerikas often. The kitchen/quality and presentation is consistently excellent and keeps us coming back. The service has unfortunately been recently inconsistent at best and inattentive at worst. I wouldn’t order the cocktails unless there is a proper bartender on duty. Food is always excellent. Kitchen is clearly the nucleus of the establishment. Hopefully the staff can get the support they need (bussers/runners) it would be a shame to lose this great restaurant in OP.
The food was good but the service was terrible. I had to ask for cocktails when there were few tables occupied. Then it got busy and forget about it. We never even got a dish and end up canceling it.
The menu was creative and the food was nicely plated and delicious. What really detracted from our experience were the 6 unbussed tables that stayed that way from the time we entered until we left. And we were one of only 3 couples in the entire restaurant! Staff were present but inattentive. Too bad because this place has potential to be very good.
Had reservation but couldn’t get a table. Food was outstanding! Bartender was great. Just slow service
Food and drinks were just delicious! Although our server was very pleasant, the service was a bit slow. It may have been because it was a full house but the service can improve. I totally recommend this place.
Amerikas is our go-to for consistently good food in Oak Park: tasty, fresh and interesting...
The food was completely outstanding and the wine menu and service was good - at least did not create any negative impression. Odd thing was the smell of a chemical cleaning agent that was pretty strong when I arrived, followed by a cold breeze that seemed to indicate they were trying to manage the fumes. But I would still definitely recommend and I will go back, Hopefully a one night misjudgment to use strong cleaner right in the middle of the dinner hour.
We've been back multiple times, for brunch and dinner, and can honestly say there isn't anything on the menu we didn't enjoy.
We recommend starting with the Calabaza, especially if you like risotto. The Mejillones is a solid second choice, and we recommend a second order of bread to the broth. So worth it.
Last, but certainly not least, we ended with th Asada and the lamb shank. Six dishes fed the four of us perfectly.
To close out the night, just get all three desserts and share. You won't regret it.
A special shoutout to Wally and the all of the service staff. You guys made it a great night. We'll see you on Saturday for brunch and that lamb shank skillet!
This is currently my favorite restaurant in oak park. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. Food is delicious, the mussels are my favorite...get extra bread for the broth!! Small but smart wine list.
When the plate came
On the tongue taste good
When I bit into it a great 2nd smell
Fantastic food. Every dish was amazing. I especially loved the mussels.
Food prepared by chef, Armando, was excellent. Our waiter was great as well. The only thing was that the tables are so close to each other...it’s not really romantic enough for dates. While we had a pleasant exchange with other patrons across our tables, I’d prefer more intimate ambiance.
Friends get together
The food was outstanding. Truly. This was a fun, unique dining experience. Definitely a neighborhood gem. Can’t wait to take friends and family here!
Not as amazing at it usually is. I was a bit disappointed there weren't specials for NYE
Excellent and creative Latin dishes. The pulpo was excellent as was the stuffed veggie cabassa. We have been there several times, and has always been excellent.
Really good food but overloaded service, lack of attention to detail and worst yet, not attending to patron's needs diminishes the dining experience. Take out might be best.
Superb food, delightful wait staff. A neighborhood gem that our guests (from California) could not stop raving about. We'll be back often.
Food is delicious and service excellent. Recommend to all.
The food is amazing at this place. I would highly recommend it.
We had an amazing experience. They perfectly spaced all of our food out so we weren’t bursting at the seams by the time we left. The cauliflower appetizer was to die for- along with all of our other dishes (pulpo, steak). We will definitely be back
We were in oak park to see the frank Lloyd Wright homes and an auction at Toomey. This restaurant, Amerikas, is Nuevo Latino style, was recommended by a friend. The menu was limited, but we found items to try. I think it is challenging because most people don’t eat meat. The tofu, beans and guacamole dish was delicious. We also did the arugula and cauliflower salad. It was not over dressed and very fresh. The service was good, but food to table time seemed longer than necessary. The manager or owner gave us a free Latino coffee. That was nice of him. Apologies do wonders. I would go back because the food was authentic tasting.
Love this place. the dishes are delicious and interesting
We met friends there. It was a repeat visit for my husband and me, first time for our out-of-town friends. The table was comfortable, I don't remember any problem with noise after we requested that the music be turned down. The food was delicious. All-in-all a really fun and satisfying evening.
We absolutely live this place. We moved away from the area but took the train back recently just to eat here. The taquitos and the polpo are our favorite but everything on the menu is fabulous. And the service is always top notch.
