Arden is an idyllic retreat tucked into Portland's Pearl District. Arden delivers seasonal Pacific Northwest cuisine and an award-winning wine program featuring over 250 bottles, many with bottle age. Guests have the option to dine a la carte or enjoy the chef's prix fixe menu ($70): a shared experience that features 4 courses of seasonal cuisine. Coursed wine pairings are also available ($45).

Arden is named in homage to Shakespeare's famous forest - a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and appreciate nature's bounty and beauty.     Very nice food but presented "family style". The hostess wanted to dish out the food and that wouldn't work for us. Once we were able to serve ourselves all worked. Each dish was flavorful and well prepared. The scallops were particularly succulent.

    Food was nothing special. Staff didn't seem to know much about which wines to pair with our food, weird for a wine forward restaurant. Stools at counter seats were so low, it was uncomfortable to dine, especially with such a high countertop.

    The wonderful reviews about Arden are true- this is a delightful delicious destination with creative, beautiful, and seasonal food. We shared everything - starting with Burrata salad with Delicate Squash with a contrasting crunchy marcona almond topping. This was followed by pumpkin cappelletti which is a sort-of ravioli with pumkin filling that is bathed in a complex buttery sauce and pumpkin seeds. We then shared delicately prepared scallops swimming in a mild rich buttery curry sauce. For dessert we shared the Basque cheese cake topped with lemon curd and a sweet/salty chocolate pot de creme. Each dish was beautifully prepared and presented, paced for a leisurely dinner. We did order the Ken’s bread- so glad we did as they gave us a way to sop up each delicious morsel. This is a special restaurant with a talented creative kitchen. We had a wonderful experience and look forward to returning before long.

    Every dinner at Arden is unforgettable, each time we are there we say, “this is the best meal I’ve ever had!” The staff is so knowledgeable about the food and wine. It’s such a warm and welcoming environment. Our favorite place for birthdays and anniversaries!!

    Such a memorable experience. My fiancé and I sat at the chef’s counter and did the prix fixe with wine pairings. Every single dish and pairing was amazing. The dishes were rustic, comforting, with a unique twist. The tagliatelle with clams and the chicories salad with boquerones were the highlights for us! The pacing and service were also great. We liked the elevated homey feel of the ambience. Best meal we had in Portland for sure!

    Arden has been one of my favorite restaurants. This last visit was an exception. The menu was very limited (entrees were quail, steak, and scallops. Period.). Nothing very inventive or interesting. Very expensive but usually worth it. Most likely will not go back.

    went for my partner and I's anniversary and it was perfect. The staff was so kind and welcoming, the food was incredible and the wine selection was vast. We cannot wait to dine here again !

    Arden is one of the neighborhood gems in The Pearl District. Food is excellent. Nice presentation. Varied menu. Good kitchen staff. Excellent wine list. This is a terrific place for dinner.

    The entire experience with food and wine was lovely. The salt level was a bit on the high end (for me), but still delicious. If this was my hometown, this would be a go-to spot! The team that works there is cohesive and friendly.

    Very comfortable place to eat as a solo diner. Great food and friendly service. The pierogi with truffles, wonderful. Chef’s counter is a fun place to sit and watch the kitchen.

    We have dined here many times since the restaurant opened. This was probably the best meal we have had here. Creative food done well. The wait staff are friendly and helpful too. Can’t wait to return.

    The service and ambiance were great. The dishes were creative and used excellent ingredients but were unfortunately over-salted. I sat at the counter and at one point watched the cook literally douse the pierogis with salt, which is too bad as the food would be delicious enough to stand on its own without it.

    Wonderful dinner and outstanding wait staff. Upbeat vibe with excellently prepared food. Highly recommend. Chef even gave us the list of ingredients for the black sesame salsa which was super tasty. We were celebrating a birthday and the dessert came out with a candle (no singing which we appreciated).

    This was an experience, not just a meal. Unbelievably delicious pumpkin pasta that I am still drooling over. Our server had excellent recommendations and helped us with wine selection. I brought my boyfriend in for his birthday and they put a candle with his dessert and gave us complimentary dessert sherry. We will be back!

    Arden is one of those hidden gems. If you are visiting Portland or are local and just haven't had the chance to make it in...do it now! I wish I tried Arden years ago. One of the best meals I have ever had in Portland!

    Arden has been a long time and has survived many obstacles over the years. The food is beautiful and beautifully prepared but all dishes including the entrees, salads, even the delicious bread and butter are sooooo salty you can’t really taste the food. By the second course it is overwhelming! I had an insatiable thirst for about 24 hours after. If they would just cut back on the salt, the food and experience would be fantastic! Also, they need better cooking ventilation since the kitchen is in the main dining room, and becomes very smoky. This has made the windows very dirty/foggy so they should consider at least cleaning those more often to keep it looking fresh.

    We didn’t arrive early enough (7:45 pm) and all the Bavette steaks were sold out. The quail dish and wide noodles (tagliatelle) and trout were all very good. Service was outstanding.

    Arden was an incredible experience. Great wine selection and after dinner drinks. I had the trout and it was possibly the best trout I've ever eaten! The sauce was incredible and I ate every bite (including the skin)! Service was outstanding. Arden is definitely the best restaurant in the Pearl.

    The food and ambiance were great! The only complaint was that they were out of one dish which is the one I had been wanting to try. Otherwise a good experience.

I wish we had been able to serve you the Bavette Steak too; we only start out with a conservative 6 orders per night to minimize waste, because what we don't sell can't be served the next day. My recommendation is to make a reservation for as close and get that order of steak in before anyone else can swoop in and beat you to it! We hope to host you again soon!

    Ambience terrific, service great, food delicious just all was very rich which might be our faultbe cause we did the ordering and hadn't been to the restaurant before however not sure they had any lighter items on the menu for example a green salad would have been nice.
