Ascari King Street
We thoroughly enjoyed the Sugo meal that we experienced. Everything was delicious. It was a great way to have dinner out with the family style meal. My only issue was with the meat dish. It was truly scrumptious but the lamb that we received was mainly large bones. It would have been nice to have more meat than bones for the lamb. Otherwise the portions were perfect.
Very nice sugo supper. Very authentic food
First time at Ascari. Had a great seat. Emma our server was very patient with us since we took out time with drinks, and ordering our food. Great ambiance where we sat, food was great. Would go back again.
From time we sat down to time the bill came was 50 mins. The food was forsure pre-made as it came out within 10 mins of ordering it.
Would not go back as felt rushed and pushy from wait staff
Food and wine is always good here
Wonderful cocktails, service, and dinner. Will definitely be back for the bigne!
The best Italian food in Toronto. Page (sommelier) was incredible.our sever very well informed and great to be here
Great meal, lovely surroundings and service was prompt without ever feeling rushed. Prices were great.
It had one of the best Arancini I have ever had! Including Italy!!!! Food was phenomenal.
I went to Ascari with a couple of friends to celebrate a birthday and we were well taken care of. We got seated by the front window and it was cozy and intimate. Our hostess was lovely: made some lovely recommendations, which ended up trying and we were not disappointed in the least! I highly recommend their Carbonara: it is heavenly! They brought out these delectable donuts with a candle for my friend and I thought that was a lovely touch. Thank you Ascari for the lovely service!
I had a good meal. I go to Ascari on Queen. The food ....pasta.....Russel sprouts ..is a notch higher at Ascari Queen st. The fish according to my friend was outstanding. Still , I would go back.
We had a great experience for brunch. Great service, food and ambiance.
Food was good quality, the service was really great too. I’d come here again.
Service was amazing. Wine list very pricy. Food was good. Again not worth the money. Small menu. Was good to try. Won’t go back.
Having enjoyed the regular menu at Ascari on a number of occasions, I expected the NYE menu to be as good. Unfortunately it was not. It was fine - not great, just fine. Also, thought they might do a touch more during the countdown other than passing out prosseco...understanding that it wasn’t a party place - but just a little extra noise/hype for the countdown would have been nice (maybe some NYE hats or something to make it festive).
They are cutting corners in all aspects. We love the east end restaurant but this one is supremely disappointing. We made a nye reservation for prix fix and the number of mistakes was surprising.
- bad design and awkward seating - they first sat us at a table that was unbelievably crammed in a nook.
- red wines were warmer than room temp. We needed to ask for ice
- champagne by the glass came out completely flat at first, had to send back
- pasta was bland
- the beef was cooked blue, inedible, the chef admitted it wasn’t to standard.
- they offered to get us a glass of something because of the beef mistake, which to me implied on the house but they charged for the glass I ordered.
- by the end, we were dying to get out after 2 hours so we asked for our deserts to be packed up and didn’t even eat them there.
The only thing that was excellent was the salads and the bread. Server was nice and professional, but it was another server/manager type that was catching the issues and things we had to send back. Lots of different people popping by and dropping off stuff, hard to ensure an awareness of the overall experience.
We dined with Ascari in New Years Eve and had their 3 course prix fixe menu. Charlotte, the floor manager and sommelier ensures that we had a wonderful experience! Staff was kind and knowledgeable and food was delicious. I would like to return and try their menu again a la carte and without the restrictions imposed by NYE!
Since portions were relatively small, we asked for some bread. We were very surprised when they told us that they didn't have any! This is supposed to be an Italian restaurant, and bread is an integral ingredient of Italian cuisine. Also, it would be much nicer and more genuine experience if they played some Italian music instead of boring and repetitive techno beat. Also, it is overpriced for what you get.
Our four course meal - the third course took 40 mins to come out. Although they gave us a free drink some food in between would have been nice.
The Polenta Alla Milanese was great. Worth noting as well that Paige, the wine director - she recommended a great wine to go along with it. Will definitely be coming back for more food and wine!
First time visiting Ascari on King West. (Have been to the Queen East Location).
Food was amazing, totally original. Great Italian fare. Best Italian food in Toronto. Would recommend and will repeat.
Great culinary experience!!
Very attentive service!
I really enjoyed our evening at Ascari. The food was delicious, the grappa and wine complemented the meal, and the service was great
Amazing service and food! The burrata was amazing as was the polpette. Polenta dish was absolutely incredible! The drink pairings were perfect and the service impeccable. I will be back!
More high end than the East side location. Smaller portions and more classy. But still amazing food an service! Definitely going back
Been here 3 times, each time was better. The scallops are a must have. The sommelier is very knowledgeable about what goes well with the food. Service was great.
We had a lovely experience at Ascari. The waitresses outgoing and was beyond helpful with assisting my table navigate the menu full of yummy dishes, and in recommending drinks to accompany our food. Everything was top notch!
Horrible start to finish.
The portion seems a little small compare to the price.
But the desserts are over the top!!!! So delicious!
I’ve been to Ascari on King a few times now and I keep coming back. Great atmosphere. The food is delicious. The menu is not extensive but it’s well put together and I can always count on the staff for a recommendation and a wine pairing. Really like this place!
Everything was delicious and the staff were friendly and kind and interested in us. Manager was very generous and we loved being there.
Ascari is constantly refreshing their menu with delicious new ideas amd coupled with exceptional service and lively atmosphere make this a must for any foodie. Have the burrata salad to start as the presentation and flavors are on point.
Portion so small had to get take out on way home -
From the bar team, the kitchen, all the way through to the Wine Director Paige, the team executed an amazing meal. The food was amazing, equally matched by the hospitality and service from the front of house. Well done and thank you to everyone involved.
Overall great experience, amazing food and great wine list. The waiter didn't seem to read the table that well - showed up 30 seconds after we sat down to take the order, when we asked to give us a couple more minutes disappeared for what seemed to be 15 minutes.
My friend and I had lunch and ordered the 3 course prix fixe. The portions were ample and all delicious! We both had the Carbonara of course. The cocktails were amazing thanks to the bar manager Tony who explained and paired it with the dishes. Eric the manager was so friendly and offered to take our picture as saw us struggling with the sunny lighting outside. It was my birthday so Tony picked my dessert and he was spot on! I've eaten at the Queen Street location and now I must say the food is equally exceptional! I will be coming back and have recommended to all my friends who love Italian food.
Great food and service. The only downside is that the main door kept opening and letting cold air into the restaurant. I was very cold and ended up catching a draft. If you go, definitely bring a sweater or scarf. Friendly staff and very nice interior decor!
Fantastic server (Emma). Great food.
Service was very slow. We waited a while for our food and the restaurant wasn't even busy. The pasta portion could be a bit bigger. I find it disappointing when restaurant charge you for the bread and doesn't even give you that much. Flavour was just ok. Nothing wowed us. Maybe the chicken pâté was the best. The rest weren't memorable enough for me to go back.
The restaurant is gorgeous, contemporary decor.
Menu is enticing.
Presentation of food is excellent.
Server was friendly and proficient
However the pacing of courses was far too slow.
The food itself tends to be too oily which Smithers the individual flavours.
Definitely room for improvement... which would elevate this experience closer to 5 star.
