Crispy Brussels Sprouts
maple salt, fiore sardo, lemon
housemade jumbo lump crabcake, sriracha aioli, petit salad
Two things worth commenting on: It took quite a while for our waitress to take our order and I feel she should have offered us beverages right at the start.
Also, when we first arrived it was VERY COLD in the restaurant. Even though our waitress said she turned up the heat and we moved away from the front window, my feet were still cold and hands slightly numb throughout the meal.
Otherwise the food was very good.
Just ok. Wanted it to be so much better. Love the bistro feel but just doesn’t hit the mark.
Comfortable, tasty. Pretty place
Under the radar French Bistro on Chapel Street in New Haven, CT almost on Yale University campus..very French ambiance, Belgian/French menu...had Moules Frites, Elgin’s battered fish and chips..great service, great for Francophiles
Wonderful lunch! Will be back
Best Seafood in New Haven
We were out in upstairs room, which was spacious and quiet, but clearly the overflow room with many tables not set up for guests. This made you feel like you were in an afterthought.
I love this place!
Great place! Love the ambiance, the service and the food. All is top notch.
Best restaurant in New Haven. Their Pot of mussels are SO good
Lovely spot in prime New Haven. Fresh seafood offerings deliciously prepared. Generous dessert topped off the meal.
This restaurant is not what I expected . The restaurant itself is very nice . The decor and setup are beautiful. The food the does not compare to the other restaurants downtown . Our appetizers were ok we had fish tacos and the fried coconut shrimp . My boyfriend ordered the Ghost Light which was very good ; I ordered the rose and it was horrible . The waitress was very nice and offered me a different glass of rose on tap it was equality as bad. Our main courses were tasteless and the seafood didn’t not taste fresh . My boyfriend had the seafood risotto the mussels were complete mush and I had the lobster roll. There was no garnish it just looked like a lobster roll from a regular seafood take out spot which I didn’t not expect . Our waitress was very nice and attentive despite the fact that there were very few servers and she seemed stretched thin between all the tables she was waiting . Despite our experience I will try this restaurant again for brunch in the spring .
We went when they had their price fixed Valentines Menu. I called ahead to make sure they had their regular menu and was assured they had their menu minus one item. Not true! Their menu was very abbreviated. I ended up ordering mussels provenscale. The mussels were plump and well cooked but the broth was flavorless, and there was only a little at the bottom of the pot. A big disappointment!!!
Our first time at atelier Florian and I must say that it was better than I expected. the sliders and Shisito peppers were amazing and the oysters were also quite good. My wife loved her salmon which was cooked perfectly and my scallops and risotto were absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back again
Food was outstanding. Service took a little bit but it was very busy and our server made it up to us. Will be back
Food was fantastic! Our server was so friendly. We will definitely be back! My favorite place in New Haven so far!
Food & service were both great. Maybe 5 stars should be reserved for super high end but it was perfect for our pre-theater dinner.
We were located near the bar area so it was extremely noisy. There is no atmosphere to the place and no one seemed to know who our waiter was so we sat for awhile before we were taken care of. The waiter was slow to check in on us and never brought over any bread. Aside from the service and the atmosphere, the food was good. I can't recommend it based on the above but everyone has different taste in atmosphere. I think it is worth to go at least once. It may have just been an off day.
Mark, the person with whom I corresponded, made the birthday occasion special for our guests and the birthday boy. The food was perfect: the beet salad with salmon and the avocado toast and the mussels were as good as could be. The service was attentive, friendly and non- intrusive.
And it was easy to converse.
Nice quality selection of entree's, esp the variations on the traditional moules frites. The sauces are very tasty and have a subtlety in seasonings. Entrees priced nicely but bordering on the high side for New Haven. $20 for a Gin Martini up is excessive... for New Haven or even in NYC! I paid $13 for the same drink 4 months ago!
Love their lobster roll!
Everything from appetizers through to dessert & cappucino was outstanding. Our table had the sliders which were a great starter. For entrees we had lobster ravioli, seafood rissoto & rib eye. All excellent dishes. The sauces were especially well done. The creme brûlée was one of the best we’ve ever had anywhere - including France! If you are looking for a lovely evening with excellent food & service this is the place!
Good afternoon Haze! Thank you so much for your kind words about your experience with us at Atelier Florian. It really does mean the world to us. I have passed your accolades on to our Chef team. Please come back and visit us again soon! Happy New Year!
Always a pleasant dining experience. Food is good, and so is the wine.
We enjoyed this restaurant. The dining room was warm and inviting. The lobster ravioli was deliciously rich and delightful
Okay food, not worth the price, however also was missing items listed on the menu as part of the dish. Nicoise salad was abysmal, lettuce was like iceberg more than romaine with one potato (not potato salad as listed in the menu) about 4 haricot verts which totaled the size of my pinky and a piece of thin dry chicken all for the price of 17 dollars. Mussels were okay, but Jacks steakhouse has much better mussels. Beyond burger was pure smoke and inedible. Unfortunately was not that good overall, but appetizers were delicious.
A perfect place for an early Sunday evening supper.
All of our good was delicious. Would definitely go again
Had a reservation for four. Was seated at a table upstairs in a very confined space. Food was very good but ambiance was unbearable.
Food was Tasty , Beers were good .
Band was good , but they were crammed in a corner .
Maybe put a Rug in the corner or a small Stage for the Band.
Desserts were great.
Will definitely visit when in New Haven again.
Good restaurant week choice
Pleasant service; recovered well after order delayed
We’ll be back
Perhaps it was because it was Restaurant week, but our experience at Atellier was truly suboptimal. We had a reservation but when we arrived we were told the restaurant had overbooked and we'd have to wait in the bar. That wouldn't have been the end of the world, but unfortunately there was only one bartender in the entire busy bar area so in the entire 30 minutes we waited for our table we could not set a drink. Ultimately our drinks were served when we were seated upstairs. (The hot actually seated one couple ahead of us, despite promising us the table...) Now, the food. The duck confit was disappointing-- not crispy and brown as it should have been, but instead soggy in skin and lacking in flavor. The oysters were small and suboptimal, too. The home-made gnocchi was excellent, on the other hand. The vanilla flan was good but they ran out of the pistachio mousse. Thankfully they gave us our first round of drinks on the house or we'd have beee even more grumpy. We'll try again but we think the service problems really must be corrected.
Delish! So glad we caught restaurant week! Will definitely be back!
My husband & I went for the prix fixe lunch during New Haven’s Restaurant Week. We were both pleased with our food & the service. I had the mussels. They were the largest mussels I’ve ever been served in a restaurant, the portion was generous & the broth was delicious.
We live in the Hartford area so it is too far for us to be regulars.
We would be if we lived closer.
Visited for restaurant week- good choices, nice atmosphere and great service! Food was presented well and tasty- except the pistachio mousse that was too heavy and sweet for us!
Terrific calamari and generous portions of braised beef cheeks and seafood risotto. Well done and presented!
Went for lunch and it was quite empty for a New Haven restaurant. Food is very good though. Cocktails need help.
Food was pretty good. Mussels over cooked but the salmon and fries were good. Server seemed a bit overwhelmed and was a bit inattentive. We had noted this was our anniversary on the reservation with open table but that did not get any attention from the restaurant.
We were disappointed last night at Atelier Florián, moules frites uncooked, seafood risotto tasteless, and baileys cheesecake barely acceptable.
It is a pity as it used to be a good restaurant with high standards and great food in New Haven.
Interesting menu, emphasis on seafood, creatively prepared. Lively scene and well located across from The Study at Yale.
