Very nice evening with excellent service. Will return for sure
Super service par Nicolas , et par Bernardo sommelier. Sur la terrasse, très privé!
Was a great place to celebrate birthdays. Food was amazing. Service was great. Definitely a must try for anyone who is a foodie
The service is excellent. The waiter, sommelier and even the other waiter who kind of just served us water were super nice. The wine pairings were very good. Only one of the twelve were not to our tastes, which is amazing given the variety. As for the food, I would say 3 / 12 courses were great, 6/12 were good and 3 /12 fell flat. Not that anything was bad, but it is worth checking the menu ahead of time to make sure there aren’t several courses that are either bland to your tastes or something you know few places can get really good, like a course with cherry tomatoes as the focus, which we found bland. The chocolate dish had a really good variety or flavours and the soft shell crab was perfect in our opinion. You can see the effort that is put in to making these dishes and the presentation was very good. For two with wine, the total was over $500, so make sure you know that going in, which we did so not an issue. We look forward to seeing how the menu changes and maybe having another go in a few months or maybe early next year. Again, superb service, really good wines and the food is overall very good, just remember to go through the menu before going.
As always, it’s an unforgettable experience.
Finding L'Atelier is a bit like looking for a secret sex shop! A plain grey building with iron grill-blocked windows and the numerals 540 on a plain grey door. There is a small bronze plaque with their name, but it's so evenly weathered that it's not readable except close up. We saw several other mystified couples in formal dress obviously searching for it while we were there.
Once inside, however, the elegant minimalist decor puts you at ease, and the food delivers: a fascinating variety of superb if understated tastes elegantly presented by expert servers who explain every element of each dish. We didn't order the wine pairing, but overheard the sommelier talking of each wine with equal detail. They offer sparking water and a variety of teas and alcohol-free cocktails for no-alcohol patrons.
Expensive, but worth it for a gastronomic treat on a special occasion.
Dining at Atelier was an exceptional experience. The unassuming building revealed a surprisingly intimate atmosphere. The entire team was anchored by an incredible chef who’s art in molecular gastronomy was supported by an engaging sommelier who invited us on a journey among carefully selected vineyards to accomplish an evening of perfect pairings. Even the cocktails were works of art that defied traditional expectations and highlighted our evening by painting a smile on each of our individual senses!
Be prepared to spend 3 - 4 hours here. After all, it is culinary performance!
Amazing dining experience. Chef Marc Lepine and his crew never disappoint. We will be back.
Truly fine dinning. Excellent wine pairing. A Michelin star experience.
Weird from the outside but amazing for your mouth. You have to be open in your culinary taste but the portions, taste, wine are so well-balanced it’s incredible!
Amazing experience! It was our second time there and the staff is making every effort to make the experience safe and enjoyable. Highly recommend the wine pairing!!!
We were so grateful for the opportunity to eat at Atelier again. The food was superb, the service was impeccable, and we felt very safe in the new (outdoor) environment. Thank you to the Chef and everyone at Atelier. You are making the most out of a very challenging moment in our history, and we were beyond grateful for your creative energy and resilience.
Wonderful food. A dining experience except for noise of other diners
We’re visiting Ottawa from Toronto and we made this reservation a few weeks before we arrived. We are so glad that we chose Atelier. Each dish from the 12 course tasting menu was sooooo special and delicious! Every dish was carefully prepared by the chef with heart and was presented beautifully with a surprise to us! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who enjoys fine dining (tasting menus)
My husband and me went to Atelier for our recent wedding anniversary. Absolutely everything was top notch, very elegant and polished service, incredibly inventive and yet super tasty food, speed of delivery perfectly spaced to arrive at roughly three hours. The twelve course tasting menu was a wonderful experience for taste buds and eyes. The total absence of music was greatly appreciated. This way, we could enjoy our occasion and the magnificent food. Very romantic. The whole experience was a total pleasure and we already made plans to take friends and/or relatives to this place.
We went to Atelier because we’d heard great things and were eager to try an experience like this one.
Drinks - We opted with the placebo pairing and were not very please with it, some drinks were great but the variety just wasn’t there making for a very poor experience if a certain kind of drink just wasn’t for you. There were a lot of drinks that were made with fermented vinegar etc..
The food - was ok, some dishes were not great but that is to be expected with so many courses after all not everyone loves everything, however I wasn’t wowed by anything. Which in general wouldn’t be an issue if the price of the experience wasn’t so expensive.
Service - was absolutely great the sommelier and waitress were amazing and very attentive through the whole experience.
Ambiance - Not the best, really not what I was expecting. I’ve been to less fancy dinning experiences that were all out on ambiance and this place just didn’t have it. The tables were all scratched up. No effort was made to make it feel in any way romantic or intimate. A nice table cloth and a bit of candle light could go a long way.
Overall - Glad we tried it but for $500, not worth it, I wouldn’t do it again.
Every dish was delicious, we all enjoyed this unique experience and would definitely go back in the future! Loved it! Great service & food!
Fantastic food and service, a must to be done at least once
Food was outstanding. Service was poor and ultimately ruined our experience . Will not return.
Our experience was good but not great. We were very excited for the blind tasting menu, and while several of the courses were fabulous, many of the courses looked wonderful but did not have the complexity of flavour or ingenuity that I was hoping for from a restaurant of this caliber. The temperature of the food was also not consistent (ex. Some courses arrived not as warm or hot as they should have been). The table service and Sommelier were top notch, as were the cocktails and wine ordered. The restaurant ambience needs an update. While I like minimalism, the space is showing it’s wear and looks tired.
Best restaurant in town. Hands down. We were blown away.
Sumptuous tasting menu in a non-rushed environment. Takes about 3 hours for entire tasting experience. Probably the most expensive dinner we've ever had but a real culinary experience. Waiters are extremely helpful and described each dish in detail. New cutlery and dishes with each dish. By the end of the 12 tastings we were very full. The siracha bread before the meal was exquisite.
The 12 course menu with extended pairing was a phenomenal culinary experience. The time taken to explain each dish, and the sommelier providing extensive information on the pairings, was perfect. Never felt rushed at any point during the meal. It was a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Atelier has a diner feel with plain wood tables and chairs and bright lights. At $165 a plate it wasn’t the ambiance I had expected or wanted. Food was great although some plates were plagiarized from food blogs/shows (scallop presentation from Magnus Nilsson, candy helium balloon from Alinea in Chicago). The servers stumbled over memorized scripts and were clearly not sommeliers. Again, at $500 total (2 people) for dinner + bottle of wine the bar is set high and was missed hard.
Valentine’s Day was great
Was the first tasting menu I had ever tried and it was absolutely amazing. They easily accommodated dieteray restrictions without making it feel like you were missing out on the full experience. The waitress and sommelier were extremely friendly, warm, and thorough with the descriptions of food and wine. 10/10 amazing experience and would definitely recommend. The actual place wasn't as elegant as I had expected hence the 4 stars instead of 5 for ambience.
Fantastic dining experience with wonderful service. The wine pairing was an informative carefully curated selection expertly matched to each tasty course. The background music didn’t suit and eventually became distracting. It was an expensive meal, but certainly one I can recommend.
A great place to celebrate special occasions with a 12 course meal. Did not opt for wine pairings due to price and fear that it would be too filling. But we had one cocktail each, which were good. Dietary restrictions were respected and the food was delicious. The only issue was sometimes we needed to ask our server to repeat aspects of the food description because it was hard to hear what she said over the noise of other customers sometimes.
Amazing 12 course meal! We "hoped" 8 or 9 out of 12 would be delicious, but all 12 were amazing!
12 courses + wine pairings = one amazing night.
Was here with my wife for my birthday our second visit to Atelier. Chef Marc Lepine has a great standard for all chefs to live up to. You always be impress by eating here. Highly recommend. Be patient with you 11-12 course meal and always have a pairing of wine or non-alcoholic beverage
Lived up to its reputation!!! Great wine pairing and excellent service!!
Excellent service. 4.5 hours that flew by.
Great experience of flavours & textures. Definitely going back next year.
Service was very good. Atmosphere was lacking, no music, other patron noise very loud. Food was overall pretty good. Extended wine pairing was mediocre.
It's in a strange location but I couldn't have been more pleased. The food was out of this world and the service excellent. Such wonderful combinations of flavours and textures. I couldn't gave enjoyed it more.
The extended wine paring is a must, once in a life time experience
Incredible dining experience. Worth every penny. Food was delicious. Service was wonderful. Wine pairings were perfect. I would go again.
High end restaurant, high end dishes and service!
It was an amazing culinary experience. The pace of the service was perfect, not too fast, not too slow. Every dish was spectacular and absolutely delicious. The restaurant looks like a house from the outside but it is nice and cozy inside.
One of the best restaurant in Canada! Service is always excellent
