Pasta and pizza were excellent as always but would not order the fish again.
Thanks Laura, we will be sharing this with the executive chef as Branzino is one of our most popular main course dishes. Thank you, we value your feedback. Looking forward to seeing you again at La Bettola.
Great little spot with fantastic cocktails, great wine list and a good selection of Italian fare. Love the ambiance!
Great patio during summer
Our favourite after work on Friday hangouts. Good energy and menu is always interesting.
Lovely neighbourhood resto. Good food, friendly service and great patio.
This is the third time in the last two months that I have been for lunch. This experience was very different than the the others. I made an unwise menu choice - an open-faced sandwich that was all bread. We were forgotten by our server altogether.
The waitress completely forgot about us. And when reminded she never improved he attentiveness. The service was terrible but the food was good.
Fabulous as always
Food was awesome and so was service. We were there for 2 and a half hours and every one was so accommodating. The only concern was how we were greeted. We walked towards Bar Centrale and the man standing there pointed me to the Terroni desk. I gave them my name and they told me I didn’t have a reservation that we had confirmed that day. After some back and forth I was informed we were in the wrong place for Bar Centrale. I said that the man had pointed us here. He said he didn’t know we wanted to go to Bar Centrale. Perhaps he should have asked instead of pointing???
When we entered Bar Centrale they pointed us to a table with only 5 chairs. Our reservation was for 6 people. We had to ask for another chair. The whole greeting was just so unprofessional.
It’s was ok. I think the whole franchise has taken a little advantage of the area and lost some of the quality and service they originally built business on going back to its first days on queen st.
Just a fair choice for a breakfast with friends. Offered only a table against the windowless wall in this narrow room. A $12 breakfast consisted of 2 totally unadorned poached eggs sitting on a single plain slice of brioche in a bowl. This room really lacks the ambience of their restaurant on the floor above.
I wish they would put the warm mushroom salad from Terroni in their menu. If they did that I would be in heaven! :)
Food was good, service was good. The dessert we had was overpriced for the portion served. all in all, an enjoyable evening but was a bit too noisy.
Great place for locals to eat without all the noise and waiting of upstairs. Less kids and great wine.
Food prices are high at all Terronis but thats Toronto now.
The calemari fritti was very very dry, with no lemon or sauce of any kind. The server didn't offer a solution to the problem
Great staff & attention - good vibe
So many fruit flies non stop around us and the food- gross
Food was good, nothing came out hot
Attentive service and nice wines and cocktails. Food is not memorable and is steadily declining with each visit. Pizza is dry and over cooked lacking in flavour. Pastas are bland and overpriced.
It’s too bad because it’s a convenient local spot and not as hectic and as loud as Terroni upstairs. I don’t think owners or management are paying enough attention to this restaurant and need to refocus before people stop coming.
We were here a month ago and I felt that we should try again. Just confirmed findings in my earlier review unfortunately.
The food is good and nice atmosphere for a quiet dinner. However the service was spotty...not really sure who was serving us and they seemed disinterested. I’ve been here a few times, probably wait for summer before returning.
Bar Centrale is not the restaurant it used to be when it first opened. Staff are inexperienced and have attitude. Our hostess insisted there was no reservation under my name —there was (confirmed on my phone and through Open Table). Wait staff were better. The items we ordered were Nazzardi salad (good) seafood (ok) and margherita pizza (small , bland and overpriced at $19.00). I often choose Bar Centrale over Terroni as it’s much quieter and you can have decent conversations. With music blasting upstairs this is impossible. Not sure I will return any time soon as there are lots of other options nearby.
Everything was great. Loved the ricotta ravioli! Service was a 10- friendly and attentive.
Great food and atmosphere. The only down side was our server who seemed uninterested in working that evening. We ended up getting better service from the bartender and another server than ours. We probably would have stayed for more drinks and dessert but neither were offered so we left and went somewhere else.
The server got my friend’s order wrong .... friend kept the meal and completely enjoyed it. The restaurant gave us complimentary coffee which was very nice.
My dish was not at the correct temperature ... the clams looked like they were sitting out for a while. I have had this dish two times before and so I know they could have done better
The “secondo” was also at the wrong temperature.
The wine was excellent and the overall service was gracious
Hopefully our next dinner there will be perfect as it used to be.
Meal was good. Not exceptional. Portion sizes were adequate but not generous. Service was fine.
Fix the sink in the men's washroom
My friend was not happy with the booognese sauce. Flavourless. Very very noisy (music) when we arrived but they turned the volume down.
I always love hsving a meal at Bar Centrale....breakfast, lunch or dinner! Good room! Good service! Good food! Good value!
Our server was excellent and the wine selection, while expensive, was good. As a wine bar, the number of wines by the glass was not as robust as expected, but the offerings were okay. The chick pea fries were fantastic! Our kale salad was excellent. Given that we are in tomato season, we were surprised the tomato salad had cherry tomatoes, instead of beefsteak. We were disappointed in the pizza, which had a thick and doughy crust. Unfortunately the pasta rigatoni was undercooked, but the sauce was good. The fish special was good. Overall, a 3, but I don't think we would rush to go back.
Bar Centrale, the higher-end, street level resto at the Summerhill Terroni always delivers for us and it did once again on the last long weekend of summer. More good food and wine, and very good service. Terroni has the amazing rooftop patio, but we find the food and service to be better and more consistent at Bar Centrale. It has an excellent all-Italian wine list as well. It's a step below top restaurants in the city, but it's a favorite whenever we want a relaxed vibe with very good food, wine, and service.
We have been to Terroni several times and never knew this place existed. It was exceptional! Our servers recommendations were spot on and we enjoy every bite! Hats off to the Branzino chef, and 4 of us ordered it and it was delish!
I showed up for the reservation with my first and they weren't open. We waited 15 minutes outside and then we gave up. I love the place but was disappointed they didn't open
Fab food, one had risotto , one pasta and I had the fish, all was delicious. I just returned from Sicily and it was as close as you can get to the atmosphere in Italy! And the service was fabulous...thx!
Always a good spot for a work chat, catchup with a firmed, or morning reflection.
I go here regularly and It is consistently good food and good service.
Good food, really good patio.
The service was abysmal.
After we placed our food order nothing came for one full hour.
They then brought out our main course and had forgotten the appetizers we had ordered.
Outstanding food, best in the city. Service just as good.
I love the look and feel of the bar/restaurant. Great ambiance and service. Food was delicious!
Always a delicious meal! Our server was great!
Great service, good pasta and salad options at reasonable prices. Not as noisy as Terroni upstairs and booths are cosy and comfortable.
