We let them know that we needed gluten free options well before our booking. They didn’t prepare for gluten free options. Yes they have many options that are already gluten free but we just asked if the tuna and tar tar could be brought out with gluten free bread or without bread at all. But she refused. We then said it’s okay if it’s on lettus, tomatoe or cucumber. She said they didn’t have any of those options!! A few minutes later she said good news we found a price of gluten-free bread but it will cost you $2.00! After spending $175.00 or more for two of us it was really pathetic to be charged $2.00 extra. We won’t be going back. There are so many other wonderful restaurants in Ottawa and area that really want our business. Especially during Covid restrictions.

Really warm and inviting atmosphere! Would highly recommend asking the bartender to create a surprise drink as they are extremely skilled. Food was delicious and drinks were exquisite!

Laurel is a long-standing favourite restaurant. They consistently crush it; the food, service, drinks, etc. are always fantastic.

In these COVID times, we felt perfectly safe. They've clearly worked hard to ensure patrons' safety.

The menu has been reduced due to Covid-19, but that hasn’t impacted the quality of their food. They have a lovely patio (no heaters). Service was appropriate and safe. The mussels escabeche was delicious as was the pork loin. Bar Laurel never disappoints.

Great food, friendly and knowledgeable waiter, the ally where the table was could have been jazzed up a bit but we were just happy to be out for our anniversary during the lockdown. Thanks for making it happen Bar Laurel. We will most definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our Friday night dinner. Didn’t feel like cooking so we were able to get a table at one of our favourite little independent restaurants. The tapas menu changes often depending upon what inspires the very talented chef given the bounties of the season. This visit, my new favourite is hen of the woods. Wow, didn’t want to share! The mussels on toast were perfect, patatas bravas toasty hot and crispy on the outside, chuleton de buey seared just right and last but not least their well rounded sampling charcuterie. Our server spaced the courses just right so that we could fully enjoy each bite. The wine pairing was the right one and we finished up with one of each of the cakes. Both are great but the apple torte is awesome. Many thanks team laurel...much enjoyed

First time going to bar laurel and it was fantastic! The house wine was fabulous and every dish we ordered was delicious. Very unique and creative dishes with great flavours!

The food and drinks were delicious!

We’ve dined at Laurel many times and our dinner there on Wednesday evening reinforced to us that their talented team continues to deliver such scrumptious tapas. Our servers suggestions broadened our palate and the chef and his team really nailed it. In particular, we didn’t really want to share the beef tartare, the braised cabbage and the pork loin chorizo pastry as they were so so good! The blueberry cheesecake and apple torte completed a welcome break from pandemic home cooking.

Marc Bosse always makes a special effort to make customers feel welcome. He is especially attentive if it is your first time there. I will always go to Bar Laurel if he is there: the warmth of his care and attention to making it a special night continues during Covid.

Service was poor - had to ask multiple times for bread for the table (our server said we could get some if there was bread 'kicking around in the kitchen'), we asked for our main order of food to come at different times as we were five people at a small table, and our items all arrived within five minutes of each other. We had to ask our server for the items in our charcuterie to be named. Our messy sharing plates from our appetizers weren't cleared to make way for clean plates for the main order of food. Overall not the level of service expected for a restaurant of this calibre. Food was very tasty though.

The server responded to all of our questions efficiently and with enthusiasm.

The range of dishes, while sometimes small in portion size, delighted in taste and presentation.

Patio is quite small and right on sidewalk with people passing by very closely. Given COVID situation it was hard to feel totally at ease.
But besides that great service and food was good.
Spanish wines were a tad too expensive so we opted for a French Sangiovese.

Ok food but extremely expensive for what it is. Limited menu due to covid19 is disappointing.

The food and drinks were really quite good. The service was good, but slow and they missed a few items. The patio was nice, but a little cramped. I would have liked more distance but we did not complain at the time, so not fault to the restaurant there.

Only the patio was open. Tapas style food was quite good.

Food was great as usual, they still make whatever cocktail you desire and the patio is super well done (not too close to other tables!) we should have been i. barcelona that day if it wasn’t for the pandemic so it was a nice local alternative

The care they put into choosing their products and creating delicious and creative plates and drinks is always going to make feel going to Laurel Bar like a special moment! But without all the usually unnecessary fuss around fine dining.

Our experience at Bar Laurel is always amazing. It’s our favourite restaurant but this even was especially wonderful.

Fun and unique spot. Will certainly go back and try other items on the menu.
