Tasty pasta selections and fairly strong wine list. Quick service as we were in and out in about an hour.
Great!I will definitely return
Went on a weeknight for after-work dinner with friends. We had the pasta tasting menu which was delicious. Great variety of flavors, perfectly cooked pastas, delicious sauces. Our waiter was wonderful and the vibe of the place was lively and cool. I have been to Perbacco many times, and it's great to have a bit more casual alternative without sacrificing quality of food, top notch service and ambiance.
The pasta here is terrible. Everything else is pretty good. However, the pasta was so appallingly mediocre and bad, it made my overall perception of the meal just negative. Never order their Trofie pesto or the Rigatoni. It tasted like something a poor college kid made in a dorm kitchen that couldn't afford key ingredients.
Shame server seemed to not know his wines. Food was OK. I'm glad I tried it and decided that their sister restaurant is better.
Loved the food and the staff..........super friendly.
Wonderful food! Stone fruit panzanella! Risotto! Canneli bean soup! Spaghetti Congolese! Shishito peppers!
Great place to relax and have a good meal!!! My family had a very nice time, our server was right on with his recommendations for wine and food!
the food was excellent. the wine list had many excellent choices. I could not hear my colleague when she was talking. the tables were just too close and the sound bounced everywhere. i would return if there was a quieter time.
I love Barbacco. My favorite menu item is the orecchiette with kale and fennel sausage. They also have lots of lovely small plate as starters. Also a great place to order things to share. Interesting and reasonably priced wine list. Service is consistently good.
Great dinner, I am gluten free - no meat, the menu was a challenge. It was loud, very busy service could
have been more attentive. I would go back recommend.
Barbacco is always good! I’ve never been disappointed. I was sorry to see their amazing lasagna has disappeared from the menu but my spaghetti with clams was excellent! I love the Italy focused wine list but the prices are a bit high. The bill for 3 people, 3 apps, 3 main courses, one bottle of white wine, half carafe of red wine, one desert and one espresso came out to $300 and it was mainly due to the cost of wine.
Our lunch experience was made intolerable by the incredibly high noise level at Barbacco's. The sole entree was overcooked -- dry and not very tasty. The smoked salmon salad, however, was good. The overpriced Chardonnay was just so so...
The service was excellent! The food was delicious, freshly prepared and reasonably priced. What’s not to like?
This was my first time at Barbacco and I'll be back. I had business near the Embarcadero Center and decided to take a chance on an unfamiliar place nearby, and I'm very glad I did. It's a beautiful room, very large and spaciously arranged so it feels relaxed. I had the halibut special and it was excellent, with everything on the plate working together well so the fish didn't get overwhelmed. Pasta dishes, salads - everything we had was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. They have a nice, moderately priced wine list as well. It was good enough that I'd make a special trip back.
Our server was terrific, energetic and helpful. We started with salumi and cheese boards, excellent. We all had pasta, the orricheta, clams and spagetti and ravioli all were wonderful. Love this place, and I took my son and his girlfriend and they absolutely were delighted.
Great Farro risotto!
Good food & good service with a friendly, knowledgeable wait staff.
I've eaten here several times in groups, and the service and food are outstanding. It became a loud making conversation difficult, but I will return.
Thanks to a most enjoyable restaurant staff!
Nice regional menu. Campania. Noisy. Good overall.
We had a lovely meal. My friend is vegan, so they made him a delicious broccoli pasta dish that made me want to reach over a grab a forkful.
The service is always great, however we got to meet the new manager, Nicky, who made our experience outstanding. He introduced us to a new orange colored wine that was to die for.
We'll be back very soon.
Good food, small portions for price, but that’s SF
Birthday. Great service & food. Music was amazing and complimented the experience. Would definitely go again. 👏👏👏
I love the consistently awesome food at Barbacco. From the salad, appetizers to main course and dessert, they tasted so refreshing and prepared to perfection. Service was well-timed and superb. Simply a great dining experience.
Love this place for lunch downtown - it's great for business and social gatherings. The service is superb and the food is always delicious. I also love that I can make a reservation, which means I can actually sit at a table without waiting. The pastas are inventive and well-executed; the contorni are delicious (I recommend the cauliflower and the brussels sprouts); and the mains are usually nicely balanced.
Intimate casual fun, great experience
Good food, good service, nice atmosphere. Our server's recommendations, especially re. wine, were spot-on and very appreciated. The burrata cheese appetizer is delicious, as is the farro risotto. The gelato di cassata—ricotta gelato with chocolate and candied fruit—is outstanding, but unfortunately only available on their summer Sicilian regional menu.
Food is great but noise level is very high. Difficult to have a conversation with your dinner partner.
The food and the service here are always outstanding. I mentioned in my reservation that I was taking a good friend out for her birthday and they brought a birthday dessert! The salads are big enough to share or eat for an entree. And the roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts are super!
I was hoping for more authentic Italian food but what I got was the complete opposite. Felt like tourist trap food to be honest. Service was pretty good but not a fan of their food at all.
Went back for their risotto, which is among my favorite dishes - I’ve had it several times here before, and the flavor combos always change.
This time the flavors did not work: tomatoes and burrata cheese. The cheese was too gooey, and the tomatoes gave the risotto a very bland/watery taste. They also removed their famously popular fried polenta from the side dishes - replaced by cauliflower.
Seating was a bit awkward. I was going to be seated between two different groups in the counter (so awkward), when there was enough space to dine alone in the front, so I opted for that. Weird setup that the managers laptop was right in front of my face though - bit intimidating. Service was attentive from waiter.
It was just ok
Chicken dish was blah. Great waiter and fab wine
The food is so delicious but the service is below average. Not very friendly waiter/bartender. Will go back for the food and keep finger crossed not to be served by the same waiter.
The food is terrific (especially for gluten-free folks), but it’s super loud and hard to concentrate on the conversation you’re having, and you’re packed in pretty close to the table next to you. It’s a nice spot for lunch but if you’re looking for more intimate, this isn’t the place for you.
The service was excellent if impersonal. The stone fruit salad was good. My colleagues enjoyed their mains, chicken cacciatore and kale pesto pasta. My entree, farro risotto, was bland and uninteresting. I was taken with the burrato cheese, but it was melted into a big plate of farro and, thus hidden. I won’t go back soon unless someone invites me.
The food was just OK, portions were small, service was very good. Lasagna was average at best , swordfish undercooked and the lamb was excellent. Surprised this place can compete in SF, in NY it would be closed
Good food, not fussy in relaxed environment. Convenient to Embarcadero BART. A bit loud yet would return.
Your by the glass wine choices are absolutely perfect, representing the best of Italy!
Food is delicious but big portions
The food was very tasty and prepared wonderfully. Even the simplest of dishes, the fettuccine with lamb ragu, was so good. The service was attentive and very helpful. And the prices are moderate so it won't hurt your wallet. This is a very nice, budget-friendly, great bang-for-your-buck restaurant that I would recommend to anyone.
