Located at the "Gateway to Southtown," the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is home to Battalion. After a nearly two year renovation, "The Rock" has been restored as the crown jewel of Southtown. Overlooking the spectacular downtown cityscape and the famous Tower of Americas, Battalion's contemporary design merges perfectly alongside the historic building's strong, yet weathered 1920's craftsmanship. Chef Davis has created an extensive menu of fresh pastas, char-grilled meats, stunning vegetable dishes and Italian classics. Complimenting the menu is a comprehensive wine list and a refreshingly original cocktail program.

    We are semi-regulars here, either for celebratory events or just because we have consistently really enjoyed both the food and ambiance. Upon arrival it did not feel as vibrant as usual. We were dining as part of a birthday celebration, as noted on the reservation, but other than being asked by the hostess who's birthday it was there was no more mention of it during the time we were there. There was a substantial amount of blank space in between the time we were seated and the time our waiter arrived and introduced himself. Charlie was an absolute champ answering each and every question thrown at him by our senior citizen diners. He was knowledgeable and even made a few dinner recommendations based on their dietary restrictions they shared with him. Those recommendations, btw, were 100% on point. The Italian lasagna, I was told, was excellent. There was some confusion when all the entrees came out, but the small hiccup was smoothly taken care of by both Charlie and kitchen. Overall it was pleasant experience, but after comparing notes, both my husband and I felt the menu has become a bit sparse this season. I while I have never actually looked at their menu before we make reservations, I might next time, just to see if there are several options I would be interested in. Don't know if I missed it but there also wasn't the usual "specials of the night"? Appetizers were really the starts here. The whipped feta was very good and the meatballs, as always, were excellent. Notes Apps Bread w/whipped feta and roasted garlic oil, olives and meatballs 10/10 Entrees Italian Lasagna 9/10, must be a Pesto lover. Chicken Parmesan with additional pasta on side 8/10 x2. Spaghetti , sauce was good 6/10 Spaghetti Arrabiata, sauce was good 6/10

    Great italian food! The meatball appetizer and bread service with garlic olive oil - delicious. We had the manicotti and Calabrian chili pork loin. Both were fabulous. The walls are bare concrete so it is very noisy.

    Battalion is my all time favorite! They always deliver amazing food, friendly and attentive service in San Antonio’s most stylist restaurant space.

    It allowed me to book for 9:45 pm, but I missed to check what time they closed. Once I got there I had to rush to pick what to order and was never offered dessert. Server was awesome, drinks were way too potent, and food is always on point. Overall good, I will go back but be ware of booking late reservations if you want to take your time for the overall experience.

    Battalion is always good but they need to update the menu with new items. I feel Like I’ve had everything on the menu or at least have specials or Features for the evening.

    The service was great and the food was delicious if I am I’m the area again it will definitely be a place to visit. Great customer service.

    We went to Battalion in observation of Culinaria. Food was superb. I had meatballs in a perfect red sauce, followed by a strip steak in the Florentine style. Both sides were excellent! My wife had spaghetti arrabiatta and eggplant Parmesan. She delighted in both dishes. We each finished with a delicious dessert. Our server, Belle, made everything about our meal perfect!
