Baxters American Grille - Champaign
Food and service was very good.
Waiter was really lack - luster. First time ever at your place. We will b back as good history overall
Good food, decent value, filling portions. Bread pudding & apple crisp are very good.
Cody, our server, was awesome!
Very good food and service
Slow service. Had to ask for a refill multiple times, never got the bread and butter we asked for twice. Food was just okay, I would say overpriced for the value. Not impressed.
Service was great! Restaurant was clean. Food was delicious. We wish we had room for dessert.
Couldn’t get served at outside bar, even though it was open and there was live music. Sat inside. Server took order right away, but food was very slow. Once we got our food, we were all pleased. I river service is #1 problem.
Never a bad experience!
Food was very good—a “go to” place for my wife. Service was outstanding even though they were crowded. Wine list could be better is my only suggestion.
The location and setting is really nice. The food was good except my green beans. They have a lot of drinks to choose from. Service was very slow but all staff were friendly.
The Hostess was very nice. The service was very slow. The server was distracted with other tables.
Always have a great time here! The servers are outstanding and I love seeing managers who interact with customers and work just as hard as their staff. Amazing food for a great price!
I've been visiting Champaign for the last 6 years but hadn't tried Baxter's until this weekend, and now regret the oversight. Food was excellent, my picky-eater son pronounced the smothered grilled chicken as one of his favorite meals in recent memory (my wife agreed it was very good). I love most regional styles of BBQ - the rib sauce here is tomato-based and on the sweet side with just a little bite. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Overall, we were very pleased and will likely visit again.
Food was very good, per usual, waitstaff was very attentive.
Will return again soon!
Definitely disappointed that I picked this place for our anniversary. Staff never mentioned that it was our anniversary— even though I noted that in the reservation. The food was okay. A little too salty for my liking, but fine. We sat in the bar area and there were flies unfortunately. Server seemed too busy for us. We ended up going somewhere else for dessert.
Food was great and service was very good. Will come again
It was a wonderful evening. Great food and service.
We wanted to try something new and I am so glad we did! We took our 5 year old with us. Their kids meal was generous portion with gorgeous fruit cup for only $6!! My husband and I ordered the drunken mushrooms for an app... oh man they are delicious!! The spinach salad... holy moly it was SO GOOD! Our meals were just as tasty. Our service was probably the best I've ever had. Attentive without being annoying. Totally going back again for a date night to try with drinks and desserts.
Always a pleasure to dine at Baxter's. Our server, Billie Jo, was outstanding! This is the second time she has waited on us.
Curtis was our server, a busy man in a warm room on a hot/humid day. He easily accommodated our special requests. Billie Joe, the host, was very kind.
A hidden gem for sure! Can’t wait to go back!! The drinks are awesome!
Wonderful food and nice music to celebrate our anniversary!
Always a great meal and good service!
The steak was tough, never got my sautéed mushroom I ordered. The chef salad was a joke. The rolls are still as bad as the first time we went there. Texas roadhouse has them beat on quality and quantity of food.
This has been our favorite restaurant in Champaign, IL for some time! In March, we had large family gathering for dinner at Baxters. Everyone raved about the food, service, and ambiance. This past Saturday, there were four of us for dinner. Again, our total experience was outstanding!
I always have a great exp at Baxter’s. However, I was very disappointed that I had to make our server return to the bathroom to wash her hands. She came directly out of the stall from using and went right out the door. She claimed there was no soap and I told her that was not true I had just used the dispenser. So disgusting.
My customer had a ribeye that I told him to return since it was very tough. The second ribeye he received was not much better. He had the smaller ribeye.
I had the 16 oz ribeye that was also tough, but I ate around the center and had enough. I did try to cut the center of the ribeye with the serrated steak knife and could not even cut it through.
Service was very good, but steaks need improvement.
I eat at this Baxter’s in Champaign and also the other in Bloomington. Twice a year.
We may make plans else where next time.
We’ve been here two or three times now and it’s always great. A nice hideaway in plain sight. Highly recommend whatever soup they’re serving too
This was the first time at your restaurant for most of our party. We met in the bar for one drink prior to our reservation. Love the specialty cocktail menu and the bar was quite comfortable. We were seated very close to our reservation time. Menu is very diverse with offerings for everyone. Appreciate the gluten free menu as well. Service was pretty good. Server put in the wrong order for one guest but apologized and promptly had a new entree made. He also forgot to bring lemon one person asked for and we weren't able to grab his attention. Most everyone really liked their meals. Three had steaks; one had the kebob; one had salmon; and one had the smothered chicken. All that had steaks thought they were fantastic. The kebobs were given an "okay" as the guest thought the chimchurri sauce was bland for what it was. The chicken was rated as fantastic and I thought the salmon looked really good. We tried a couple of desserts (creme brulee and bread pudding) - both were really good. Liked the wine menu too.
We were in town for my son's graduation. The food and service were excellent. Our waiter Curtis was very attentive. Great variety of food choices and all 5 of us ordered very different things and none of us were disappointed. Prices were reasonable. It was nice to find a nice restaurant in Champaign that wasn't overly stuffy, but very nice at the same time for a family meal.
Wonderful food and great service
Always good food. Service a little slow but worth the wait!
Great night with great food!
We enjoy Baxter’s.
Great food and service. Overall it was a wonderful experience. The dining room was on the cooler side but I didn't mind that.
We were surprised to find this in Champaign. Great drinks and phenomenal food and it was all reasonably priced for the quality! We were very happy and will certainly recommend and visit again!
Excellent food and waiter - Ryan!! My wife loves the spinach salad and my salmon special was cooked perfectly. She had the chicken special- was tender and very good too! It’s the best kept secret in Champaign we keep telling others to eat here. We’ve never had a bad meal!
Good selection of wines and cocktails - although the "True Grit" old fashioned was anything but - very sweet! Wedge is a good salad choice, and diverse menu offers a number of choices - including many gluten free options. Steak and seafood options
Nice "L" booths for two - or 4 with two chairs. Casual, but still nice. A little pricy .
Can’t describe how amazing this place is! Friendly staff, manager helped with our drinks, he was awesome. Food incredible. One of our favorite places.
