Beatrix - Oak Brook
We went there to celebrate 2 birthdays. The food was delicious and the service was really good. They even gave us two complimentary desserts for the birthday girls. The atmosphere is super cute with a coffee shop in the front and restaurant in the back!
I was very disappointed because I had mentioned on my reservation as well as to the server that it was a celebration dinner for my boyfriend's birthday, and had little to no response or acknowledgement. Although I thought the food was fine, it is not something I would recommend again for others due to the lack of response to the occasion.
It had been a few years since I'd eaten @ Beatrix, and it was just as good as I remembered. The Straight A salad with salmon added was delicious+, and my guest enjoyed the Krispy Kale salad w/ salmon. Our server was friendly and attentive, and obviously the cooks were A+. Highly recommended!
Great environment with better food. Loved my experience.
The server was chaotic and didn’t follow protocol
The kitchen forgot to include a side of vegetables with the main course
The skirt steak was paper thin and half of it completely charred on the bottom
I have been to the city locations and was always happy with my food - this location is not up to par
Hope they’ll improve
Considering they pop out meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food is really good. It doesn't appear to be slapped together by high school kids. And, the servers seem to care about giving great service. A great step up from some of the other restaurants around Oakbrook that are getting kinda "tired" in their food and service.
The menu is great and so is the coffee bar. We came for breakfast and sat up front where it was well lit.
Great atmosphere, food and service!!!
Happy to see a Beatrix open at Oakbrook. Always liked the location downtown and this one has a similar feel. Food quality was good and service was excellent. Will return.
The juice drinks, the prime roast and all the food was delicious. The roasted cauliflower salad could have had more cauliflower but still was tasty. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. Will definitely return again!
Beatrix is AMAZING! The food is exceptional and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is inspiring. Our service was a little slow, but our servers were very kind. Highly recommend Beatrix for breakfast!!
I will definitely be back for the pot roast filet meal. It was outstanding. The Barratta cheese appetizer was very good too. Our waitress took a long time to bring the check. Other tables that got there after us were long gone. Not sure why. But I loved the food. Drinks were a little high priced.
We made a reservation for outdoors to come in to our reservation and were told that they do not make reservations and its first come first serve for outside seating.
The waiter took a very long time to wait on us.
Overall the staff could be friendlier.
Fresh and modern menu, good service in a comfortable and casual space. Nice combination of upscale restaurant and coffee bar.
Love this place! Best breakfast ever!
We were there celebrating a birthday. The food was delicious. We look forward to going back.
Terrible experience. Food wasn’t great. We were served one hamburger without the top bun, and we waited several minutes before someone finally brought it. I didn’t have silverware after they took the appetizer and again we waited several minutes for any waiter to bring it. No apologies or intention to make our visit better. We ordered a drink refill twice and never received it. We will not go back.
If you are looking for a heavy emphasis on grains, kale and tofu this is your place. The food is
flavorful and fresh tasting but they could benefit with a few more traditional choices.
Well thought out menu - midwest|cali Fusion
First time diner at this location. I thought the Chicago spot was great...this location is a lot better. Well designed and oh the food and service equal ot better. I highly recommend shared plates.
We had a great time. They were able to accommodate the dietary restrictions of one of my friends who has severe food allergies and even brought us free appetizers that were perfect for my friend. Their service was impeccable.
Fantastic experience, service started slow but then picked up. Would definitely tell people to visit.
First time for us and we enjoyed our meal. Food was good and service was efficient. Wine list is short but decent choices. Especially liked the Brussel Sprouts.
We love visiting Beatrix with its totally eclectic post-modern mishmash furnishings. It so fun to sip expensive well-crafted cocktails while perusing the menu and just looking around the dining room. While there are a lot of unique and inventive offerings we always get Kennebec Fries appetizer which are fresh peeled skin-on fries perfectly cook that are garnished with thinly sliced crispy lemons & chilis. Delicious! We thought it odd when we got an entree that ostensibly included Kennebec fries arrived at the table without the the crispy lemons! When we asked where the lemon slices were we were told, "oh, that the Kennebec fries appetizer." IMHO, the only way these fries are distinguished are the crispy fried lemon slices---that's what makes them Kennebec fries. The server, as if making a courteous compensation cheerfully offered to get us the missing lemon slices added to our entree/fries order if we wanted them.
But all in all, all the food is excellent if not IMO overpriced. What was billed as "Wagyu Pot Roast Filet Mignon" for $28.95 was good but it really was just like any other good braised pot roast. Putting "Wagyu" and "Filet Mignon" in the same description doesn't give the house license to charge nearly thirty bucks for a cut of beef that was likely the filet of chuck roast. It was served with horseradish mashed potatoes, baby carrots, and "steak jus" which was not to be found on this plate presented. In many restaurants of this class$30 could put me pretty close to getting a 6-8 oz rib eye. Oh well, I know beef prices have gone out the window as well as other food costs and wages have sky rocketed so restaurateurs are hard-pressed to deliver the price/value relationship to the menu. But we like LEY restaurants and always like their innovation and consistent quality.
Great food and ambiance. Prices are reasonable. Food is farm to table quality and menu is whimsical. Service could be slightly better. Loved seeing a diverse staff, which is not the norm for the area.
The air conditioning was lacking and the volume of the music was very low which really changed the whole atmosphere
I was disappointed having brought guests who have not been there before
Our first time there and it instantly became one of my favorite restaurants to visit. Great outdoor dining experience for Sunday brunch.
My wife and I were there for Sunday brunch and found the experience very enjoyable! The tone was set when we were greeted by our vivacious and bubbly server. Couldn't help but smile every time she attended our table. Brunch cocktails were spot on and the brunch entrees were hot, well seasoned and delicious. Menu selections were inventive and appealing to many tastes...benedicts were not offered which would have been a nice addition to the menu. The bakery selections are also a must for brunch.
We both had the strawberries and waffles. They were very good. Wait service was okay. Once we received our food, she came to see if we wanted anything right after our food was served and then I had to hail her down to ask for more coffee. Waited quite a while and then someone came around to all the tables with a coffeepot.
First time at this place. Got a gift card and thought why not. Loved loved loved this place. Great outdoor set up. Food was terrific! Service was exceptional. Our server was extremely knowledgeable which made it very easy. Most of all she got down to my 5 year olds level and actually asked her what she wanted to drink and made it happen. Would definitely go back!
AMAZING service. Really hospital staff (yes, obviously they are in the "hospitality" field) but the server we had was so lovely and accommodating. Makes the shopping mall experience that much better to have such high quality restaurant choices.
Loved the new location! I have been to the downtown location often and the new one met its expectation!
Our food was really good at lunch. Burrata salad and pot roast sandwich were delicious. We did not receive our LEYE points although our server said he put them in. Annoying to have to contact customer service with receipt information. We will definitely go back to Oakbrook location.
Liz was an excellent server. The meal we shared (before we went to the Loop for a matinee of Hamilton) was excellent. I had chimichurri steak and eggs with the most awesome charred peppers and it was great. My son-in-law said his avocado dish was outstanding. Our wives devoured the Shakshusa (so?) and somehow we found room to share a macaroon AND the award-winning carmel pie. We began with a glass of champagne and each had a nice, zippy Bloody Mary! A great meal!!!
Great addition to Oak Brook’s restaurants! Excellent service.
Enjoyed our first visit and will go back again. We had an excellent server for brunch on the 4th of July.
We came for 4th of July. Several had the poke bowl.
Very filling and flavorful.
One had the special apple pancake. The chia pudding is
a treat for some. Good cocktails and juice blends. Blueberry
and another with ginger pear are favorites.
Servers are young and learning. Fresh ingredients.
Terrific place. Highly recommend. Parking without valet can
be a challenge these days. Beatrix never disappoints.
We have been to the downtown location numerous times so we thought we’d try the new location because we were in the area. Everything was amazing, just like our other visits, except the service was a bit lacking. I understand that it just opened so there might be some kinks to work through, but it took at least 10min for someone to get our drink order (which wasn’t even our waiter) and then almost just as long to get the drinks and then no one really checked in after we got our meal (I didn’t even have a chance to get another drink). All in all, this place always delivers with food and drink though. Just hoping they get their service together soon!
We sat outside on a lovely evening but had to wait for a table because only a small section of the patio was open. Service was good, bit I have been a little disappointed with the food at this Beatrix location. I ate at the downtown location a few years ago and found the menu to offer fresher and healthier selections. The menu on the date we visited in Oakbrook in July was identical to when we ate there in February. Much too heavy options for a warm summer night.
This was my first time at Beatrix. It was a perfect place for breakfast! Tasty food, super friendly people, lovely atmosphere.
