Outstanding wine list, special salad , eggplant parmigiana and wonderful service. People could not be better!
This is such a wonderful restaurant!! The staff is amazingly accommodating, kind, fun and take the extra steps to make the experience very special. The food is delicious. Not a morsel of food was left behind. I would go back in a heart beat.
Always the best food and hospitality. I have had so many special events there over the years!
This was an amazing restaurant and experience for celebrating my dad's birthday. Everyone was so friendly and cheerful! As all the reviews before me have said, the service was phenomenal and I felt like I had become part of an Italian family. Food was also delicious! Would highly recommend.
The food is delicious and top quality. The service is excellent and sincere! You feel like that you are eating meals with families and the atmosphere is joyfully.
Service was great, food amazing and wine was perfect. Just overall a amazing evening.
We were looking for a place to have an excellent, yet rather casual, Italian dinner after an eventful day at Golden Gate Park and are so delighted that we found this gem of a trattoria!
Upon entering, we were greeted warmly at the door, and service was prompt, friendly, and attentive.
The antipasti misti plate was beautiful and so delicious: thinly sliced grilled eggplant and zucchini, artichokes, mortadella, salami, olives, and a light salad with radicchio and escarole. The house cocktail (vermouth, prosecco, orange) was a perfect cap to our day at the park.
We ordered the orecchiette (with sausage and kale), the carbonara sbagliata, and the malfadine con pesto—all cooked to perfection. And we shared a tiramisu among the table, which was impeccable! The addition of the crushed amaretti on top added lovely and unexpected texture, was light, and had just enough espresso flavor.
It was evident while we watched the servers and hosts that this is a team, who takes pride in this restaurant. They were all helping each other and very attentive to their guests.
We’ll be back on our way out of the city to pick up panini at their salumeria next door!
Mom’s birthday. Great waiter. Exceptional service. Wonderful ambiance. The food was exceptional!
Great food, ambiance, friendly staff!
I specifically searched for an Italian restaurant that new how to make carbonara and amatriciana pasta authentically since my favorite restaurant in North Beach closed.
We all ordered the carbonara because our waiter lived in Rome for 11 years, spoke with an authentic Italian accent and recommended the dish.
We were all so glad and grateful that will followed his recommendation. You could taste that the pasta was freshly made by the texture. The sauce as they claimed did not have butter nor cream yet the sauce was the creamiest carbonara I have ever had. Instead of using guanciale, they used pancetta which made a cleaner yet flavorful sauce seasoned to perfection. They started with complimentary bruschetta which was simple but so flavorful. And they finished with a complimentary pana cotta, outstanding.
I woke up thinking about the dish and the experience. My niece and her best friend came to visit for a week. They wanted to treat me to dinner to thank me for my hospitality. And they wanted Italian pasta. I could not have made a better choice in all of San Francisco. They were so happy with the experience and that they hosted such a magnificent dinner.
This restaurant is not located in the hotspots of San Francisco. It is a neighborhood gem somewhat out of the way. I am in West Marin so this location worked out perfectly for me. They may not be in North Beach but that’s ok. The experience made me feel as if I went to Italy for dinner!
Really amazing ambience, great service, and delicious food.
Great house-made pasta! Loved the squid ink spaghetti and the daily special lasagna. Staff were great. We even were given a complimentary appetizer and dessert! Highly recommended!
A party of two, we shared the burrata which was smooth and creamy. Then we shared the gnocchi gorgonzola, which had a good meld of tastes, but the gnocchi was too soft. Our main dish was the grilled mista which had Chilean seabass, wild salmon, 2 grilled large prawns, and some calamari. It was excellent. For dessert, we had the limoncello ricotta cake, which was quite flavorful. The house wine happened to be a Gruner Veltliner, at $11/glass, which was quite good, especially at that price.
There are two rooms. If you’re on a date, ask to be seated in the second room. Better ambiance.
Great food and service
Been coming here on and off for 20 years. Always good food and friendly service. Gnocchi is amazing. Good house wine too.
Excellent service. My favorite was the Margherita flatbread. They also gave complimentary bruschetta and panna cotta, which was great
The food was quite good. Our server was overbearing and pushy and not attentive to us. Check out was unduly burdensome and complicated.
Customer service was lacking. Waiters did their job, but chose not to really engage my party. Made a significant difference
Went over for dinner, food was overall delicious and tasty and service was amazing, although the server/host could improve on the way they seat people. Overall we had a great time.
Felipe was awesome!!!!
Host was a bit annoying but food and service was over the top!
Staff were fantastic and food even better!
Simply the best Italian restaurant dinner and experience I've had in ages. It was my first visit, and I'll be back! I had a thin spaghetti with squid ink and garlic sauce, with clams, and a decent red wine. My companion had another pasta dish with smoked salmon that was equally delicious.
Staff members were personable, courteous and helpful. I'm a little hard of hearing, so the noise level was a bit problematic for our conversation, which is why I rated the ambiance merely "good". Some noise is unavoidable, though, with a full dining room.
Our waiter was attentive, courteous and provided excellent service. Very happy with the fresh pastas, seafood combo was delicious and beautifully presented. Lemon cello dessert was delicious, not too sweet, definitely enjoyed would like to come back to try other things on the menu.
They were fantastic! Food was superb and hit the spot. The servers were very nice and welcoming.
The service was amazing! We had Felipe as our server and he was so kind and friendly. My boyfriend and I both got the gnocci with spritz cocktails and the affogato for desert. Everything was so delicious and I cant wait to go back!
Staff as always was great, best gnocchi in the bay!
The staff was very accommodating when our friends were running late. We had a special grilled seafood platter which was amazing, as well as the pastas - squid ink spaghetti is a favorite of mine. Wonderful desserts and great servers - we were very happy diners!
Wow, most delicious Italian cuisine and amazing friendly service. We had the burrata salad, trout and eggplants, all were the best I've had. You won't regret going here.
Great fish stew, a tasty version of Cioppino. Lot of mussels, clams, shrimp and scallops
Was there at opening. Excellent service although staffing did seem low. Complimentary bruschetta, good wine. Trout lacked flavor. Soup was excellent; they say serving is for two but sufficient for four! Panna cotta was excellent. House made vermouth was awesome! Second time there over the years when visiting SF.
Bella! Grazie ! Will return fer shur some day
We came 10 minutes before our 7:15 reservation and were asked to wait out in the cold. We were not given a menu, at first, since they thought we could use their QR Code. When we did order they brought the salad appetizer and gnocchi at the some time so I had to ask them to hold the latter. The salad dressing was somewhat viscous. The gnocchi ala sorrentina came in a sauce which was supposed to me meatless but I could taste the pork in it and it seemed to have sugar added to balance the salt content. The gnocchi themselves were tender, one of the few things that were OK. The place was quite noisy certainly not my choice for a quiet birthday dinner. Our server was attentive. Bu that night we both had stomach cramps that lasted through the following morning. Overall, a disaster.
We (a group of 5) went to Bella Trattoria for Father’s Day dinner based on the great reviews. Unfortunately, we were quite underwhelmed.
— Ordered the antipasti misti and requested to make it all-vegetarian. The presentation was elegant, and everything (grilled veggies, burrata cheese, olives, spring mix salad, etc.) was delicious. This was the highlight of the dinner.
— Our waiter was very nice and responsive. He even helped us take a few pictures of the group.
— The outdoor seating area was surprisingly windy and cold despite being partially enclosed. And the single heater simply did not have enough BTU to keep the area comfortable.
— The entrees were just okay. Their presentation, when compared to that of the antipasto misto that preceded them, was unremarkable. None of the dishes, including the gnocchi, lived up to the expectations set up by the rave reviews. In particular, the clams in the seafood pasta did not taste fresh. They are a bit fishy and reminded me of the frozen precooked clams that I keep in the freezer for days when I am too lazy to cook. Adding to the problem was the fact that the entrees were no longer piping hot by the time they arrived at the table.
— We ordered both the Tiramisu and the panna cotta, thinking they would be safe bets. To our great surprise, the presentation looked *completely* different from the inviting photos in the reviews: They each came in a little jar. The panna cotta had a thin layer of berry sauce with a few mashed up berries in it while the tiramisu looked quite messy *before* we started to eat it. Both desserts tasted fine if unremarkable. But the lackluster presentation was what made the lasting impression.
Bella's is one of my favorite restaurant! Its so nice to be able to go there in person again. It was wonderfully strangely normal to be there for dinner again.
Great food and service and I love that some staff speak Italian!
The food and service were both remarkable
One of my favorite places
Unfortunately I don’t live here anymore but this was on the top of my list for my visit!!
My girlfriend and I love coming here for the food, drinks and most importantly the service. They have an amazing staff who are friendly and attentive. The food is also a MUST! One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city.
Bella has quality ingredients but could use better bread. It has a nice casual atmosphere and understated, good fare including excellent pastas.
