The food was brilliant, would definitely be visiting again!
Lovely atmosphere we didn't feel rushed at all and the food and cocktails were beautiful!
Varied menu and good food. Nice decor. Unfortunately the service wasn't great. We weren't given the set lunch menu (even though we went at 12.30) and had to ask 2 different waiters for it. Not all of us had finished eating but the waiter started clearing our plates - twice!! When the bill came we were charged for drinks we didn't have, so it's fortunate we checked.
Asked for a jug of water three times which we finally got about half an hour later, when the food came out I asked for some ketchup and Mayo which never arrived! Ice creams at the end were all in one dish which was a bowl of mush! Normally Bills is great but won’t be rushing back now.
Food and service was poor on this occasion. Service poor due to staff shortages( not all staff had shown up for their shift) and my scrambled eggs were full of shell
Nice restaurant. Good service. Food was good but needs more choice.
A lovely evening sitting outside in the glorious sunshine with friends. Meal was absolutely delicious and good value for money.
Our only real criticism was the state of the ladies toilets. Broken seats, toilet roll all over the floor and the sinks were filthy - not what you’d expect in such a place.
You got most of it spot on Bill’s….don’t forget the details.
For this reason alone, we will eat elsewhere next time.
A really enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and the service was fab, they were really helpful and tolerant of having small children.
Clearly a popular and busy venue, judging by the number of tables that were in use. The menu choices for breakfast and brunch are various, however on my visit the, 'pancakes' were unavailable. I shall return again another day...
Service slow. Got served food before drink. Had to ask for cutlery. Scrambled egg on toast, looked like it was made from 1 egg, was cold. Had to ask for butter. Table by us got served first, ordered pancakes. We ordered after, I ordered pancakes. We got our food first. They were then told no more pancakes, so had to reorder one meal. Staff all over the place, not looking like they knew what to do. Over priced, wont return.
Enjoyed will be returning staff lovely quick service
Food was good, service was good, happy with our experience
Great venue convenient location. Consistent service
Enjoyable meal. Service was prompt and friendly.
Great breakfast, great staff, great place to meet & eat.
We went for a family birthday and as always food was great. Just ashame this time round the staff weren't very welcoming when we arrived and when I took my son to the toilet later in the meal I had two staff barge past us knocking us both into other guests and didn't apologies. Our table waiter however was friendly and helpful, just ashame a few things tainted our visit.
ordered scrambled eggs with toast and was very disappointed to receive what can only be described as overcooked scrambled omlett. The toast had gone cold and there was no sign of any butter, we had to ask for it. Not the breakfast I was expecting for the price.
Always busy with an ambiance to match this place is a must try.
However it’s a bit hit and miss with regards to service and food. Both can be slow and the food sometimes a bit on the cool side for me yet nevertheless I still return as the good days outweigh the bad.
really nice food and lovely setting, waited 20 minutes for a waiter to come over and ask for drinks, food arrived after 30-40 minutes wait and they kept forgetting to get the table a jug of water
From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. The food was served efficiently and was delicious.
Food was nice , service at times wasn’t amazing or terrible was just standard. We got what we asked for but soon as we said what we wanted she took note and would walk off .
A really great evening, would definitely recommend going there, especially for a date or meeting someone special
very attentative and friendy service, food was tasty overall good value
We were seated outside, 2 of my table were older and were helpfully directed to the ground floor loos! The food was delicious and well-presented. The service was good, the waiter forgot to provide tap water for the table but it was quite busy so this is understandable. The chairs/table were comfortable, there was some noise from nearby tables (group of mothers with young children) but not too bad. We would come again. Prices are very good and quality of food and drink is very high.
Wow, what a lovely find! After meeting my friend after nearly 2 years (same as many people) we wanted somewhere quiet with good food so we could catch up.
The service was excellent, very attentive.
The food was lovely, I opted for the mac & cheese whilst my friend had the fish pie - I dint like fish but even I thought it looked amazing!
We sat outdoors, which was very comfortable. We do plan to go there again and I'm sure it will become out regular meeting place! Even if it is just for a drink :-)
I usually really like Bills, but this time, not so much.
The food was OK, service was slow and there we no knives on our table. These were brought out only after asking and after the food was put on the table.
When the bill was given I noticed that there was automatically a 12.5% service charge on the bill. I removed this. The service was not that great - very little attention and service staff more interested in chatting with each other. I have no problem with service charges and tipping in general, but I do get annoyed when it is added for very little reason.
Great brunch menu with lots of choice. Tasty food, yummy smoothies and good coffee
Good location and ambience. Excellent selection for breakfast including good options for the Vegans and Celiac in our group
Very friendly staff and service was quick. Definitely would come back.
Awful front of house service. Tried to cram as many people in the restaurant as possible - no distancing (not one metre, let alone 2). Staff having a shouting match with each other in front of customers to the extent that I couldn’t hear the person I was having lunch with. Will not be going back!
Not sure if the service charge is distributed to staff. In view of this I may be reluctant to visit there again. (see notes on the web supported from a response from staff)
Food was OK but probably best suited to a lunch time meal rather than evening dinner. Service was good especially most staff were very attentive.
Good for a quick meal with friends.
Very nice place to eat very expensive though and most of the food is deep fried not for me but I am sure lots of people enjoy this type of food
Took 30 minutes to be seated despite having a booking in place.
It's a really nice quiet location. The food was excellent. It did get quite busy at peak lunch hour and therefore a bit noisy.
Very slow service. Got our food before our drinks. Food wasn’t as good as it usually is. Disappointed.
Very impressed indeed by Covid precautions, which were the best we’ve seen - even better than those at Waitrose cafés. However, the restaurant was let down by congestion around the doors; only one of the entrance doors was open, allowing those leaving to push past those carefully queuing outside. Being told to Q codes were at each table would also have added to moving away from the door more swiftly.
Service was welcoming, polite and at a very good pace. Having had our choice of food previously at a branch of Bill’s pre-Covid, we were slightly disappointed by yesterday’s meal.
The noise level was very off-putting; we were very lucky that our table was tucked away in a corner but had no problem hearing a good amount of conversation from one table in particular, and a fair amount from others. Some don’t seem to think of privacy nor about the spread of Covid propelled from mouths.
Noise from diners is a difficult problem for Bill’s to tackle especially in a large space, such as we ate in yesterday at Bill’s in Reading. We wouldn’t wish to eat there again - unless we could book to eat in the smaller space tucked away round the corner. I suppose that the problem is magnified at weekends, when so many people want to eat out in town.
I want to emphasise how positive we felt about the staff and the Covid precautions were, despite having written at length about the noise.
Service was slow , starters came out before our 1st drinks .
Starters was ok. Main was not so good I had a chicken burger that was ridiculously greasy, my wife had chicken skewers and flat bread but the bread was just 2 slices of burnt toast
Whilst we like our food hot we didn't want it that hot that it was still bubbling after 15 minutes of being served at the table, obviously had been microwed. Steak was tough, too noisy. Won't be coming back. Have cancelled table for 2 weeks time.
The service was great.
I like the ambient too 🙂
I am glad the old bill’s team is all gone.
They use to be super unprofessional, going back and finding this massive amazing change was very nice. Definitely this will be my place to go with my family and friends.
Great food, service and ambiance. Unfortunately we were unable to get anyone's attention to order pudding so picked up the bill and went elsewhere.
