This was our third time at Bistro Aracosia. Fantastic yet again!
This is a superb restaurant with a broad menu, caring and efficient staff, and a no rush environment. It's a huge favorite with the locals, but I'm happy to drive a long distance to eat there. If you've never enjoyed Afghan food be prepared to be very pleasantly surprised!
We had the dumpling sampler, and last time tried the vegetarian tasting dish. This time we repeated the very tasty dumplings and enjoyed their stews. Everything was delicious, our server took good care of us and gave us good advice, and the room was pretty quiet considering how busy it was.
The best! The flavors were out of the world!
Great meal, great service!
Great authentic food, excellent service, very nice ambience.
First time getting Afghan food! It was great food and excellent value. Drinks were decent, but a little overpriced. Excellent service, quick to be seated, order and be served. An excellent choice for a special dinner that doesn't bust the bank.
Because it was a special day, Valentine's Day, the service was a little less attentive than usual. The food was wonderful, as it always is.
Phenomenal ! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal and a great ambience.
Lovely atmosphere. Great food. Nice birthday touch: almond cake and sparkling wine on the house.
Everything at Aracosia, from start to finish, was exceptional. Out of our party of five, I was the only one who had eaten at the restaurant before. Our waiter took time to explain different dishes that we were contemplating getting. The food was excellently prepared and the portions very generous.
Restaurant was beautifully decorated, and the noise levels were reasonable for the crowd size.
Lamb shank meltttsss! And the hot mezze assortment was great!
The food was delicious.
Our waitress was slow to greet us, slow to bring water, had no clue about Belgian beers even though they were featured on the menu separately. She brought a nice Belgian quad with an ice cold, frosty beer stein. Like it was a Coors Light. Otherwise, it was fine.
From what I could see around the restaurant, she was an isolated case.
Wonderful experience. Fresh dishes with great spices. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful.
Afghan food as it was before the Russian invasion.
The experience was very good overall. Service was friendly but a little slow. Not sure if it was the kitchen or short staff. The food was excellent.
The food is adventurous to some degree compared to western cuisine. The table bread is a nice flatbread with a variety of chutneys and it was very good. Decent wine selection and I had tongue and goat in one meal, a rare treat. My family all enjoyed the experience and service was good. My wife enjoyed her vegetarian fare and took the remains home. We did not include dessert with this meal.
Wonderful, interesting food with great flavors and lots of vegetarian options.
Wonderful as usual! Can’t wait to come back...
Bistro Aracosia never disappoints! We love introducing friends to this excellent restaurant. The hosts do an outstanding job of making everyone feel welcome - outstanding hospitality on top of great food!
One of my favorite Washington eateries, and all of my acquaintances who have been there share my assessment.
This is my favorite restaurant in DC! The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I love bringing friends and family here. That just gives me more excuses to return. ;)
This is a restaurant where you can usually hear yourself talk and that is greatly appreciated. The staff is extremely polite and the food comes quite quickly. Finally, the food is consistently delicious, and that makes for an excellent night out. We will be back.
We love this place. It is so consistently perfect. The food is delicious, the service is always friendly and professional, and you can actually hear each other when talking.
The only problem was they brought out none vegan appetizer. I asked the waiter if he was 100% positive it was was vegan and he swore up and down it was. My non vegan friend tried it first and it was definitely beef. As soon as the waiter realized his mistake, he very graciously corrected it, which was great, but had I been the person to eat the meat and the yogurt sauce, there would have been problems.
Other than that, everything was fantastic.
We were three ladies celebrating a birthday. We shared three platters ... assorted dumplings, combination vegetable platter, and a platter of lamb. All of our food was perfect! And a special touch was a yummy almond cake dessert with champagne “on the house”! Thank you Aracosia for a lovely evening.
Love Bistro Aracosia! Comfortable seating, warm decor, and big menu. I will return with friends to try different selections. Wait staff were super attentive and helpful.
Our dining Saturday night Feb. 1 was the second dinner for my wife and I. We were entertaining our co-sponsors and the jazz drummer and his wife who we are sponsoring as part of the Artists in Residence at Strathmore Music Center. The evening was magical and the food fantastic. The artist's wife is a professional chef, so she added much to our understanding of the Afghan food we ate. Evey bite was delicious. I am a meat eater, so I ordered for my appetizer the Oxtail dish in a wonderfully seasoned tomato sauce. the meat feel off the bone and it was fun eating this as finger food. I am not a vegetarian, but the portobello mushroom dish sounded so interesting that I ordered (for the first time ever) this veggie dish. If every such dish is this good, I might switch my food preferences. The service was excellent and our server recommended a medium beer to match the food flavors and she was spot on. I am confident you will enjoy your dining experience at Bistro Aracosia.
Always order the lentil soup,
Really good food and friendly service
Love the food!!!
The food here is always a distinctive experience. Even the start with the unique bread with four dips pleases the tastebuds. We love the leek dumplings and the mix grill. My son got the lamb shank. The card I’m on and rose water ice cream can be duplicated at home.
I absolutely LOVE Bistro Aracosia. The food is always delicious and the service, if you are lucky enough to be served by one of the family members, is outstanding. I recently went to their new McLean location, which has a very similar menu to the Palisades restaurant. It was delicious!!
This was our second visit and will plan many more. Unbelievably extensive menu, each dish as flavorful the next. The staff is wonderful, the ambience is lovely. GREAT place. We will try their sister restaurants in McLean and Springfield, as we were told the menu was the same. A+++++
Great dinning experience with delicious food and excellent knowledgeable service.
We have looked for an opportunity to dine here for sometime. We finally got the chance and Bistro Aracosia did not disappoint. With a very diverse, intriguing menu and plenty of options for carnivores and vegetarians alike, there is something for everyone. Our foursome included two who ordered vegetarian dishes, one chicken dish and one veal dish. Each of us was delighted with our choices. Each dish was well prepared and nicely presented. Food was served in a timely fashion and was hot upon arrival. The wait staff was friendly, informative and attentive. The room is very nicely appointed and the decor is attractive. On the night we were there, the room had a low buzz. However, it is easy to imagine that it could get noisy on a busy night. Also, the restaurant has no dedicated parking area. There is parking on the surrounding neighborhood streets, but be prepared to walk a little. Even so, dinner at Bistro Aracosia is worth it...very much so.
The risotto is amazing! Lots of great vegetarian choices. This is always a favorite venue 💛
Bistro Aracosia made the celebration of my daughter’s birthday wonderful! The food was so delicious and the service was just great!! Thanks for making it a perfect evening !!!
Truly amazing food! Try the dumplings!
A gem. Delicious food and impeccable service. Friendly and warm -- just great!
