Bistro Le Coq
No parking ended getting a boot on the car because we didnt know we were in a private parking spot. Restaurant was cute. Servers we attentive. Food was mediocre. Wouldnt return.
Table d'hote was very good value. My only criticism was perhaps there were too many potatoes. Another vegetable would have been nice.
French elegance next to Pizza Corner. Great food and service!
Always enjoy our time at this restaurant.....the food is good and the prices reasonable and the atmosphere is not too noisy or hectic....you feel relaxed and able to have a conversation....the wine list is very good.... and easy to walk across the street to Naptune. theatre.
My partner and I had an amazing experience at Bistro le Coq. It was our anniversary dinner and we were treated so well by the staff. The food was delicious, and we would highly recommend this restaurant!
Our meals were delicious and the service was excellent.
This is one of my very favourite, "go-to" restaurants in Halifax. It's reasonably priced and the food is always wonderful; inventive but not pretentious, delicious and properly portioned. The space and ambiance are also lovely, and the service is impeccable. My only complaint (a minor one) was that the bar no longer stocks Pernod. This struck me as very odd, given that it's a French restaurant! The wine list is also significantly diminished since my last visit, which was a bit disappointing. But all in all, excellent value and a lovely experience.
A favourite of ours. Bistro LeCoq has a lovely atmosphere, good food and service!
It was a wonderful evening!! The food was amazing and the service was great!!
Always a solid brunch spot on a Sunday. Make a reservation, tables fill up quickly. Great menu options, solid service in a lovely space !
One of the lesser known gems in Halifax. Always superb.
My first valentine with my partner. It was the loveliest experience! Our servers and staff were super kind and knowledgable
Yes, but don't order the beans and pork or seafood stew! Beans weren't cooked enough and not enough pork. Seafood was tasteless.
Great food but the service was just okay. Would go back again!
Even though there were only 3 tables (1 of 4, 2 of 2) seemed to take a little longer than usual. We had tickets to a play and had to return after the theatre for dessert.
We’ve eaten there several times before without a problem.
The soup du jour (cauliflower & gruyere) was terrific!
Wonderful place, been coming for years and never had anything short of a great food, service and ambiance experience
As usual for this restaurant, the food was very well prepared and presented; service was friendly without being overbearing; and, despite being seated close to a large group, we could have a conversation comfortably. In a town where restaurants sometimes pay more attention to hype than to their menu, Bistro Le Coq offers consistently high quality food in an atmosphere that makes eating there a pleasure.
Great food, timely service, knowledgeable staff, great ambiance. One of my favourite places in Halifax. Downtown, so in the heart of the city.
We went for a late lunch on a weekday, so were happy to have a lovely quiet lunch with great service. The food was great...love the presentation.
Great food and service! If you’re looking for classical French cuisine this is the spot!
Our experience at Le Coq was fantastic. The staff were very polite and professional. The wait staff was knowledgeable of the the specials and the wine list pairings for the meals we ordered. Our meal was delicious and perfectly prepared.
Enjoyable, quiet as it was January 2nd
New Years Eve
Pleasant staff, great French staples, comfortable atmosphere. Decor misses a few notes for authenticity, but very cute nonetheless. We will be happy to return here.
Rapid service. Accommodated nicely several food allergies. The gnudi with asparagus cream sauce was outstanding! Quiet atmosphere. Reasonable price for great food.
Hi Susan! Thank you for the wonderful feedback, we hope to see you in again soon! Alicia
I liked the booth and privacy. I like the warmth and atmosphere of other room. Jenna was absolutely terrific, efficient, and delightful. Will return soon.
We had a fantastic time and food was delicious, only downside was it was very cold inside
Very good meal, but not generous (salads, although expensive, are very small), and very pricy for a lunch. The soup was good, but it took a very, very long time to get it, and the main courses arrived 2 minutes after, which meant everything was on the table at once... so the hamburger and fries were cold before we started eating.
Also, it was very cold in the restaurant; we all put our scarves and even coats. Not pleasant at all.
The waitress was nice and friendly.
A delicious meal, excellent service.
Excellent food, good service, fair prices. We always take out-of-town visitors to Bistro Le Coq for a fine dining experience. Good value. Only negative observation was that one of the ladies mentioned that the cleanliness of the washroom could be better.
There are so many quality restaurants in Halifax, just added another to my list of favorites. I guess I was a pretty low maintenance customer, solo diner, ordered oysters and then mussels and fries, polishing them off with a nice bottle of champagne. Food was excellent, service wonderful, made for a great evening.
Great location across from Neptune Theatre. Good food, smallish menu. Excellent service with attention to allergies. Would return
I was a bit disappointed when I ordered the chef's dessert and it wasn't ready yet. We asked if they had anything chocolate and they whipped up some chocolate mousse that wasn't on the menu. It was great and I was extremely impressed! We'll be back.
Great meal! Our server was enthusiastic and helpful with menu choices. We sat in back room which was lovely - lighting is a bit bright so I would recommend some dimmers!
Key menu items, such as the lamb shank, were unavoidable. We left after drinks without ordering food.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed. We were out of the lamb shank on Monday evening. It was a popular item over the weekend and we braise it overnight for the best possible quality. I believe you were enjoying wine when the power went out across downtown. I'm sorry you weren't able to dine with us that night, but we'd love to have you back for what I'm certain will be a wonderful experience. Hope to see you soon!
Incredible service. Incredible food. Can't wait to go back!
Superb in every way! We had the Gruyère Soup, Duck entrée, and cheesecake w/ lemon. All amazing! Service was wonderful. We want to return ASAP!
Jacob the bartender was fantastic.
Food was great, but duck was a little over done, sides were too small a needed more sauce. All other dishes were fantastic. The burger was phenomenal!
Disappointed the bone marrow is off the menu.
Hi Matt, Thank you for your feedback, as we do agree Jacob is quite Fantastic and he appreciates your kind words, I have passed your comments on to the chef as we take any and all feedback to improve, We hope to see in again soon!
We had reservations for two and yet we were seated next to 2 very loud large parties. It was better when they left, but at the start we could barely hear ourselves and each other. Food was ok. I think the chef should read on how to make ratatouille, though. :) Dessert was kind of odd. The server was nice, but just nice enough. We appreciated two little flutes of sparkling rose because we were celebrating two birthdays. It was alright overall.
