Wonderful gem of a place, food is fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Owners Su Yung and Eric are fantastic hosts and made our dining experience feel personalized in a way that I haven't experienced anywhere in a long time.
Great service. Incredible wine list for wines by the glass. Her duck confit is the best. All of the desserts were memorable. Our friends can’t wait to join us there again!

This is such a nice place to sit in the patio and have a lovely dinner.
Menu options abound and the chef/owner is open to making any adjustments you may require on a dish. Strongly recommend the mushroom crostini for mushroom lovers! Currently outside seating only but it was cozy and comfortable and easy parking. Our table enjoyed halibut, salmon and the garganelli pasta with blistered cherry tomatoes with scallops and shrimp. The squash blossoms were nicely spiced and flavorful. and I have to go back and try the Garlic Noodles and Panzanella. Really diverse and comfortably priced wines to enjoy and we loved the 2018 Lucienne Pinot Noir. I am so glad to have discovered this little gem and look forward to my next experience.
Dining at Bistro Viz is always an enjoyable experience. Soo Young and Eric are wonderful hosts and they make everyone feel welcome. They are also very knowledgeable about wine. So the wines are terrific and the wine list includes very good descriptions of all the wines. And they're all available by the glass. The delicious food is creative and based on the best seasonal produce and fish. Most items change with the seasons but they always have great fish tacos (don't forget to ask for the housemade hot sauce). I don't eat meat so I have no opinions about that.
Finally, the most important part: safety. All seating is outdoors on the tented, heated patio. The tables are far enough apart. The staff all wear masks.
AS always, consistent, innovative, clean, delicious food, beautifully presented allowing fresh ingredients to shine crafted by a skilled kitchen. Bravo!
We had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. We had an early dinner and the owner was so kind to serve us and sat us at a table.,we had a few appetizers and our main course was delicious! My husband had the garlic noodles with shrimp and lobster and I had the halibut and shrimp. We will definitely come again next time we come and visit. We will tell our friends about this great restaurant!

Innovative fusion food.
I don’t want to be too hard on any restaurant these days because of all the hiring problems, but this dining experience was a disappointment given the high rating of the restaurant. It started off badly when my BF wanted to know what kind of beers they had. They had ONE to choose from and it wasn’t a type of beer he likes, so he had water. We ordered our entrees and he had fish tacos and I had the oxtail. The tacos were bland and the oxtail had a watery gravy and also was not nearly as tender and succulent as of expected. The meet was slightly stringy, actually. I am hoping for he restaurant fixes this. The manager (owner?) came by our table and we asked about the beer issue and he really didn’t have a good answer that gave us any hope that they would fix that. I believe he said something about the space requirement of trying to cool various kinds of beer. Not everyone is a wine lover and not every beer drinker likes IPAs.
Hope to try this place again in the future if this turns out to be an anomaly. Will check reviews before trying again though.
Small, out-of-the-way bistro with a large patio and a unique character. The warm welcome and perfect service really got us liking the place from the get-go. The wine list is amazing and I loved the 2018 Tyler chardonnay, and there are at least ten more whites and as many reds that call my attention. Wine lovers have to check this place out! The squash blossoms stuffed with Thai curry-infused wild salmon and dipped in tarragon-basil aioli was a great starter to share, and neither my husband nor I could resist the scallop and shrimp garganelli, which offered a generous amount of both in a tasty tomato sauce-y broth. Other starters and mains demand another visit, as does the dessert menu. We'll be back.

Bistro Viz is awesome. Great covered and heated patio, always interesting seasonal menu, terrific wine list with an unusually great selection of by-the-glass options so you can pair wine with each course (and the owner/chef provides fabulous suggestions). The menu changes often so it's great for locals. Last time we had crab noodles which were divine, following a luscious mushroom appetizer. A unique find!

Great food. Delicious blending of flavors Gazpacho with added poblanos pepper olive oil was incredible. Fine rose wine was perfect for all our foods. Crime brûlée was special!

Great everything- food, service and ownership
We had high hopes for this neighborhood restaurant. We were greeted by friendly staff and waiter. My husband ordered the beet salad and Risotto. The beet salad was tasty but the beets were undercooked. The Risotto was tasteless. I order the steak with out the nut sauce- allergies - which came with the nut sauce and was inedible do to muscle membrane which made it impossible to chew. The chef/owner came over and asked me how my steak was and I thought she should know. She proceeded to insult me by telling me that I didn't understand the different cuts of meat and that for this cut, the meat was perfect. She then proceeded to return to the table a number of times to tell me how other guests enjoyed the steak. The bottom line is that for the standard that this restaurant believes it's at and the price, they never should serve such a cheap cut of meat. We love supporting all the stores and restaurants in our neighborhood but, we will be giving this one a pass.
Mrs. Russell- You were HORRENDOUS to our server from beginning to end, treating him "like a slave", as he reported. You did in fact NOT inform us of a nut allergy despite the peanut sauce indicated on the menu until after you'd eaten half the SECOND steak I made for you-- after you ate half of the first one. Nor did either of you indicate that your husband is a vegan- I had to come out and ask. Even worse you then vowed to give us "another try" -"NOOOOOOOO!!!" We had nightmares for days.
Nice setting indoor and outside (with heaters, covered section) and very quiet with our early weekday 6:00 anniversary reservation. We were offered complimentary Proseco upon sitting. Waiter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about our food sensitivities. We had a panzanella (bread) salad, it was delicious and large enough to be shared. An outstanding mushroom crostini very filling was next served. An outstanding noodle dish with lots of fresh crab and lobster pieces and steak entree were next. Again substantial portions were served and with help of our waiter appropriate wine, large selection by the glass and knowledgeable chef, was chosen. Food was excellent, both quality and presentation, but being traditional French style was a bit rich to our tastes. A delicious in-house made berry sorbet topped it off. Prices were moderate and appropriate for the quality, we had leftovers for another meal 2 days later! Definitely coming back, would like to see one or two lighter entree offerings particularly with the very filling appetizers. * Quality if lighter offerings. Highly recommended!
Wonderful meal and we had a chance to talk with Soo Young and Eric, the owners. They were so incredibly friendly and it was such a treat to hear their story. Especially loved the fish tacos, panzanella salad and the garlic crab noodles were to die for! We will definitely be back!

Hey there- Sorry you were disappointed! Our produce is 100% organic and our meats sustainable and wild so our costs are much higher than if we were to source factory farmed ingredients. We're committed, though, to bringing seasonal foods that are cleanly sourced, and for safety reasons we tightly restrict seating, particularly inside, so unfortunately this has to be reflected in pricing; otherwise we would run at a loss, or simply have to close. Seriously delicious all organic food! I only eat organic food and have traveled extensively Internationally and this food is absolutely the best. We have our new favorite restaurant.
The servings were generous and the prices very reasonable given the freshness and high quality of our entire diner. The wines and desserts were excellent as well.
We love this restaurant! The quaint courtyard dining is perfect -- it's very airy yet protected from the elements, with plenty of heaters to make for a cozy evening even on chilly nights. The food is fabulous -- farm fresh and bursting with amazing flavors. The menu changes often so it's fun to keep going back to try what's new. A fantastic wine list, with an amazing number of really great wines available by the glass. Chef and owner Soo Young is always available to suggest just the perfect wine to pair with each course. Service is excellent. So glad this restaurant is open again!
They tried really hard but not so much. The vegetable dishes were ok but the remaining entrees left much to be desired.
Our first choice in San Anselmo, actually in all of the area that is loaded with great dining. Wine by the glass selection is extensive. By the bottle to go too.
Friendly service and wonderful food. The depth of flavor in the Oxtail dish was amazing. The lobster pasta was perfectly cooked (lobster and pasta) and delicious. Great wine list too!
Nearly 2 hour dinner that should have been 1 hour at the most. When food finally arrived it was average. We had similar experience a few years back but thought the food was good. Now the food is not good. Really disappointing
