Booked 2 weeks in advance for mothers day, was going with fussy eaters so wanted to see the menu. Called at time of booking and the day before and was assured that no special menu on and what was showing on the website was correct. We arrived and given special menu, no vegetarian main courses and everything double the price of regular menu. Food was good quality when it arrived but was spoiled by terrible service. We were pointed to a table in a side room but 20 minutes later will no menu so I had to find the waitress, she said she'd be there when she could. 2 menus for 4 people came a few minutes later but no drinks menu. They didn't come back and again I had to find the waitress, when my mother asked about red wine and what the house was, she didn't know and didn't offer to get a menu. It had been so long just agreed without knowing what it was. When one person was still eating, they cleared 3 other plates then never came back to offer dessert menu until i went to get them again. Then they didn't come to ask for our order so I went to the bar and ordered from the kitchen door.
We then wanted to pay the bill but nobody around, stood by kitchen door and asked the waitress for the bill. She acknowledged me then went into the kitchen, she then came out and started clearing empty tables of glasses so I asked again as she came to the kitchen door again, she nodded then started emptying the dishwasher, she then stood in the kitchen entrance and I could see her chatting to kitchen staff drinking what looked like a bottle of coke. I then asked a cocktail barman who did the bill straight away.
If I hadn't been with my 79 year old mother I would have walked out at the beginning. If I didn't want to ruin the day I would have made more fuss. If you want to go to the bar and get yourself a drink then this place would be OK. Its such a shame, food was great quality but until they bother to pay attention to thier diners I wouldn't go back and would be loathe to recommend.
