Little Giant

Eating oysters and salmon in a well ventilated, outside yet comfortably warm setting in Maine in January, made me count my blessings.

In light of the Covid Climate, Little Giant has endeavored to pull out all the stops and create a safe environment for customers to gather and enjoy creative good food.

This is the place to be! The patio is comfortably warm and aesthetically pleasing. The Shakshouka on the brunch menu is the best I have tasted since being in Akko.

You can tell everyone who works here respects their place of work and the product they serve, which can be rare to come by! The food was delicious. The drinks were thoughtful and tasty. The new heated outdoor patio is an absolute treasure. We loved our brunch and felt like they were making the necessary concessions for us to be clean and safe.

Little Giant has created a amazing outdoor space that is chic, inviting and comfortable. We can't wait to go back and enjoy our favorite menu items! Highly recommend!

it is getting more difficult to find outdoor dining and Little Giant is a gem.

Special thanks to our server Rachel who was warm and welcoming, giving advice on the food and drinks. Even with the challenges of COVID-19, this restaurant turned out a top rate dining experience. I have recommended them to three friends just in the last day!

We had a really delicious dinner on Friday and loved the outdoor area behind the restaurant! A Portland gem!

We went on a Monday evening and had a reservation for outdoor dining. Right after we were seated they put the heaters on and it was comfortable sitting outside. The bourbon drink was delicious although the large ice cube, while esthetically pleasing, kept hitting my nose (granted it’s on the large size haha). Everything we ate was flavorful and presented beautifully. The fried artichokes, the roasted and grilled mushrooms and the cheeseburger were all excellent. We will return for sure.

The service really stood out as amazing. We loved the cocktails, the crispy squid and the deconstructed chowder. The fried chicken and tostadas/burritos were also delicious but a bit too salty. The back outdoor space is really sweet.

The food was delectable, with great recommendations from our server. The patio was spaced out perfectly and the outdoor heaters kept us as toasty as our meal. I cannot wait to go back, whatever the temperature is outside!

Keep coming here as long as you can. It is very comfortable under the heaters and there is always a new treat on the menu.

They were out of ingredients to make a dirty martini, roasted oyster app tasted like straight up salt , fish tacos were dry and waitress forgot to place one of our apps. When we asked she apologized and said it would arrive shortly then 10 minutes later asked if we still wanted it?? It was not worth the wait! It is too bad as ambience was nice.

It was a nice experience ! Food was delicious, especially the lobster roll ... just VERY decadent, but in a good way. Drinks were great, staff was super cool...would def go back

Super chill with Some unique but delicious options!

Based on other reviews, we thought we were going to be "wowed" by a great meal, but instead, our experience was just OK. We ordered the artichoke appetizer, which was delicious. However, we thought the entrees were overpriced for what we received. Particularly the Fried Chicken, which was $26 for chicken THIGHS. The biggest disappointment was the service. When we arrived, we were completely ignored by several staff members. Our server was somewhat pleasant but seemed to expect us to know how things worked there, what was available on the menu and what wasn't, and how they were accepting payments during this time. We were traveling from CT, so how would we know any of this? She spoke to us in a condescending tone and really rubbed our entire party the wrong way. Overall, the food tasted good enough, but the staff could use additional training in hospitality.

Outdoor dining (and a rain shower!) didn’t take away from the food and service — attentive staff and outstanding food! Pan con tomate, hangar steak, and their new taco vampiro were delicious. Will definitely return on our next visit to Portland!

I had a great experience here! The staff was lovely and the seating was great and followed social distancing protocols. The food was excellent a great place for a quite night out. Will definitely be back!

Anniversary

Every time I go to Little Giant is a fresh and wonderful experience. The heaters really do work well and there is always a welcome new dish on the menu.

Great neighborhood spot for a quick bite or to celebrate a special occasion. Love the creative cocktails, and the menu, while a little pared down during the pandemic, invites trying appetizers and enjoying the small entrees. Plus the service is friendly and helpful.

Wonderful, attentive, friendly service! Food was outstanding! Order the oysters with roe, crispy artichokes and the black rice with crab. And the gem salad! We ordered almost everything on the menu and it was all terrific. The dishes above were standouts.

friendly warm, outdoor, neighborhood place - fun cocktails, limited wine list (the grenache was very good). Very heavy on the salt at times (roast chicken had the density of deli meat and was just unpleasantly salty). Good burger but very salty fries. Very good roast red beet appetizer as was the fried artichoke but oysters with roe not a go. Black rice did not get good reviews by two of our guests. Desserts were delicious!
Overall - very hit or miss, especially given the prices. Won’t be taking our next out of state guests there for dinner.

Good quiet neighborhood restaurant.
Had the lobster roll but felt it had too much butter although the light chipotle sauce was a nice touch. It was Served with bbq chips which was just ok. The oysters and fried squid were delicious though.

Very good food with a creative flair. My fish tacos were outstanding. Outside eating area is a bit enclosed between two buildings but has nice lighting.

Outdoor dining at Little Giant is a spectacular fall experience. The heaters are effective, the service first rate and the food is delicious and attractive.
