It's a wonder restaurant as well as a place that has an incredible selection of wines. I must say that our table was ready for us when we arrived and the server was prompt and very courteous, which was wonderful. The entire party (of 6) enjoyed their meals from the appetizers, small bites to the entries and let's not forget about the wine. This place has a great vibe and I would highly recommend it and look forward to going back.
Ambience and decor are pleasant. Service was average. Food seriously lacked seasoning which was the major fault of the night.
Really nice atmosphere
Server had hard time understanding us but attentive.
This is my go to place to have a drink with friends. It's more bar-like than Town, but more laid back and with more options than Cask. Overall, like this place and will continue going back. Only thing that bothers me is that they ALWAYS try to take your food away before you are done. I think there is something to be said about giving people a minute before trying to clear stuff because we don't mind it sitting there. I may want to munch on that last piece of flatbread in 10 minutes, since I'm still drinking and all. But otherwise, this place is a great place to hang out and the people are nice. :)
As always, great. They go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Going to try and go there more often.
Booked a table for two and ended up sitting at the bar, disappointing.
We got there on time and they had our table ready. We went from six to four people and they accommodated without issue. we ordered a lot of small plates. The table size made it difficult to serve all of it at once but the servers were good about taking plates away and bringing the next round. The food was good: octopus, crab dip, bone marrow, ahi tuna, ceviche, skirt steak, beet salad, rock shrimp, charcuterie cheeses and meats. Wine choices were also good. We had a pleasant meal and would return.
Ordered the cheese and charcuterie plate and was pretty surprised the sauces served with it were clearly from a jar. No fancy preserves or marmalades or mustards. Nope. Out of a jar or squeeze bottle.
Wines were great, but food is not on par.
The food and wine were excellent but the service needs improvement. We understand it was busy but courtesy should be a priority with customers. We felt very rushed out by the staff near the end of our meal when they made it a point to keep checking to take the bill. We were still finishing our wine. Disappointing way to end the evening.
Food was way to over priced for extremely small portions. Drinks were good.
Great wine flight. Small plate portions are smaller than most but very tasty. Order one more!
Was a little disappointed this second time to Blind Tasting..still was good but not as good as first time.
Great wine and beer selection. Food and service was disappointing.
We came in at 830 on Sat evening for wine and appetizers. The waiter clearly did not want to be there and was rushing us throughout our dining experience.
We ordered as described on the menu:
1. Papas Bravas with Chipotle Mayo: what we got was roasted potatoes with a drizzle of mayo (no chipotle flavor at all)
2. Grilled octopus with melon salad: it was not octopus but squid. We mentioned it to our waiter this was not Octopus and he replied, "Oh, I know and I don't know why the owner listed it as octopus on the menu..". The squid was over cooked and chewy.
We expressed our disappointment and clearly didn't touch much of the salad and the waiter still charged us for it.
3. Artichoke Beignets- this was the only saving grace item from our appetizers.
4. Beet Salad - meh .... you would expect fresh beets would be served BUT it was beets from a can! You could tell, since it was watered down, limp and the can ridges on the beets.
This place has a lot of food selections without identity. Offerings are all over the place. It would be ideal to minimize selection with good food pairing.
It truly was a blind food tasting.
Amazing wine and beer selections. Great place to pop in and sit at the bar. Noise level is high and service was spotty - I think they were down a person. Food was solid, but go for a drink.
very nice for almost all occasions...food was varied, unique & flavorful. Extensive wine & beer selection. Very nice ambiance, location and service.
First time I'v made an on-line reservation for Blind Tasting...it's the way to go!! Fast and easy.
Food and service is always the best!!
I was on a date and it was a perfect place! Lot of choices and ability to get to know someone. Service was terrific as well. I would definitely go back again! Perhaps for a girls night out! Thank you for another great option.
noisy, food ok not great, nice selection of wines but blind tasting wines were bad
This place has quickly become a peninsula favorite. Food, wine, service and vibe are phenomenal.
Reservation not ready for at least 15-20 minutes. As we were walking in saw them give last available table to walk-ins. Why have a reservation?
Everything was great, they just got real busy so service got just a little behind, but staff hustled their butts off, it was OK. Very good food and drink selection
It was fun to bring the family together to celebrate my Dad’s birthday. Delicious drinks and apps. The main courses were also very good. The only thing about the sandwich mains, was the bread could be better, but I am a bit of a bread snob, so take that with a grain of salt. Overall, I love it here and will be back, for sure.
Sadly the service was so slow and the food just was not very good. Our beet salad came with bright red dressing which alone was not appetizing and had no flavor. The crab and artichoke dip came with half toasted stale bread. Overall just a disappointing experience.
Great food and drink menus. All four of us loved it.
Always enjoy coming to Blind Tasting for great service, food, wine and beer. It has been consistently good since this was my 5th or 6th time here. When it's busy it can be a bit noisy, but that's part of the atmosphere. I like that they offer a good selection of wine and beer!
I'll be back!
Service and food were very disappointing. The servers were pleasant but the actual service was not very good. The server spilled on and stained my sweater and all he did was laugh.
The kitchen service was slow. The lamb burger was raw in the middle and we told them both times. The shrimp with garlic was sour.
Excellent choices on menu. Great service but extreme loud taking!
We will try lunch maybe not so loud
We were a little disappointed with this visit. We had a reservation but they didn't keep a table for us, ended up sitting at the bar. The service was super slow and inattentive. Food was good but better on previous visits.
This place is phenomenal! The staff is knowledgable and fun, the food is always amazing and will definitely
be back. Bess and Angelo, thank you guys for everything!
I ate dinner with friends and liked the menu. We enjoyed sharing small plates , and then ordered our own dishes. I returned for lunch with a friend and had another good meal. The service was excellent, as well.
Love Blind Tasting! Both wine and selections are great, and the people are amazingly warm and friendly. Will keep going back and will keep taking my friends there!
Food and service were great :) The wine list was the best part for sure! Was a little crowded (but it was Valentines Day! so not too surprising). Decorations were pretty cute. The dessert was the only thing that wasn't like phenomenal. It wasn't bad, just not as good as everything else. Cappuccino hit the spot though! Highly recommend for after dinner. Definitely want to go again and try their normal menu (they had a limited specialty menu for Valentines Day).
Service was exceptional even on Valentine’s Day. We will be coming back!
First time here and it was a pleasant surprise. Lots of wines available by the glass and food was really good! I'll be back soon. Service was quick and efficient without being pushy. Highly recommend Blind Tasting.
I'd been here one time before and enjoyed it, but something was off tonight. Table was uncomfortable and right in the draft of the door. We had to wait a while to be given menus after we were seated. Order was taken incorrectly. One of the wine glasses in our flight smelled off and there was an oily residue on the surface of the wine. The dessert (a berry tart) had a poor texture and "off" flavor. Food overall was marginal. And the choice of wines in the sparkling flight was odd...one didn't even taste like wine. Disappointing, I really hoped for more in my experience here.
Blind Tasting is a lot of fun. The name refers to a wine tasting where you taste a flight of wines and try to identify what they are. So I went in expecting a wine bar and was not disappointed. The wine list is broad, well chosen and fairly priced. Selections include the option of an actual blind tasting - 3 reds in my case. The waiter was impressed I correctly named 2 out of 3.
We shared a few tapas plates. They were nicely prepared and enjoyable. Portions were just right - two of us shared three plates and a some bread for a light dinner.
The only concern I have is a lack of focus. The wall behind the bar is filled with TVs tuned to sports and there's a wall of beers on tap. So it's a sports bar? To be fair it seems like this is the decor in all the Laurel Street places in San Carlos these days so maybe that's just what you have to do. Service was friendly and attentive once we got going but it's got the feel of a new place getting itself organized. Sports bars are rarely good spots for wine. I hope they continue to balance the two out - Blind Tasting deserves a shot.
My first visit was great but the second one was mediocre. Ambiance is cute and nice menu concept but the quality for the value was unmatched unfortunately. Cute Date place but a little too claustrophobic.
My hamburger did not come with the ingredients it was suppose to come with and my fries were cold. The time before I ate there it was great.
Very attentive and friendly service. Great atmosphere. Delicious food. Perfect location on Laurel Ave. what more can I say?
