I took a new staff member there on her first day at work. It was the perfect way to welcome her to our team. Service was efficient, pleasant and non-intrusive. I've taken clients and other staff members there before and have never been disappointed. I'll definitely return again whenever possible.
The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere. I will go back again next time I’m in San Francisco!
Bluestem Brasserie is convenient in the downtown SF area for lunch. Decent service, decent food, good location. Nothing real special but certainly a good lunch spot.
The waiter was unable to serve the wine correctly and was slow to accept finding real red wine glasses when requested. Stay away from this restaurant if you enjoy drinking good wine.
Nice place, close to hotels and shopping but not right in main area so a bit quieter. Food was good, but it, like everything in San Fran, was pricey.
Great food and very accommodating service. A bit on the loud side but that's what one should expect for a popular Brasserie
Great for conversation. The duck confit salad is incredible.
We were one of the first to be seated at lunch at noon and one of the last to receive our appetizer and then our meal almost an hour later. I was there with a potential client and I was embarrassed. No explanation was given.
Also while the food was good we had some special dietary restrictions and they tried to meet them but missed on one of the items which was unfortunate.
I had a client lunch here during a conference. I was pleasantly surprised. I got the chicken sandwhich and it was delicious.
Best brunch in SF, our favorite place to eat when we visit SF. Cinnamon rolls are THE best, food is fresh, service is amazing. Don’t leave feeling ill and stuffed, quality food.
This is a very nice restaurant/bar with a very good ambiance. They provide excellent service here. Foccacia appetizer pulled pork sandwich, and the burger is all good.
We made a 5:30 reservation appetizers & entrees. A bit of a long wait for the entrees, which arrived warm, not hot. Very tasty. He asked us if we’d like to see the dessert menu & we said yes. Theater was a 9 minute walk,& we told him we needed to leave by 7:00. By then restaurant busier. Waiter brought dessert menu, then took a bunch of orders from new parties,& I could see him in back corner entering their orders into computer. Couldn’t catch his eye. Didn’t return to take our dessert order for over 15 minutes. By that time it was too close to 7,& we knew there’d be no way to get & eat dessert in time. We told him there was no longer time,& asked for the check. That took a while too. We left about 7:05, disappointed to miss dessert. I think 90 minutes should have been enough time to manage 3 courses, especially with advanced notice. We had the exact same experience the last time we ate there-slow service,& ran out of time.
Loved the French techno jazz. Waiter pleasant, just either disorganized or overloaded.
MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS BLUESTEM BRASSERIE AND STAFFS IN EVERYTHING THEY ARE DEALING WITH , WHEN, WHEREVER. AMEN.
Well executed dishes but pricey
Friendly staff; unique faire, well prepared, fairly priced.
Incredibly over priced mediocre food. Ordered chicory salad, Brussels sprouts and butcher cut chimichurri steak. Salad was totally uninteresting and the Brussels sprouts were ok. The $34 steak was so tough that I couldn’t eat it. Luckily I let the server know and she kindly took it off our bill. Service was mediocre and we had to keep asking for things and felt like we had become ‘that’ table. Will not return- nice location but there are far better restaurants nearby.
Food was poor all around given this price level. Disappointed. Soup was bad, pasta was mushy, burrata cheese was more like cream cheese, mussels were the large ones that are not as good. Open Table’s rating was misleading. I rarely write reviews, which should tell you how disappointing this experience was.
Came here with my family. It was ok- not amazing and not horrible. The matzo ball soup was lackluster but the bite of Porto chop, macaroni and cheese and Brussels sprouts were pretty good. Fries were tasty. Someone had a past dish with a mustard sauce- that was weird but also not horrible. The burger is usually the safest bet here.
Went in fairly early (11:30am) and it was very quiet. Food was great, lots of options. Location was convenient and close to bart.
It was good food but we waited 5-10 minutes to sit for our reservation then had to wait a while for our main course and check. Just seems the timing could have been better. We’d said we had show tickets at 6 and our reservation was for 4:30. We ended up rushing to the theatre.
Had a very nice brunch with an out of town friend. The location is convenient if you are near Union Square.
We met at Bluefin two days in a row for a family pre Christmas brunch. We had different staff and different food, both excellent.
Over priced for quality & quantity. Would not honor happy hour prices unless you’re sitting at the bar.
Great location near Westfield; nice atmosphere but food was mediocre
It was our Anniversary date, and we had a great experience! Thank you!
They sat us right away, even though we were early. Maitre D was funny and kind. Our waitress was super slow. Made a comment “I’m doing the best I can.” Example, drinks took a long time (these were simple drinks like Diet Coke and coffee). We got our dessert well before we got our coffee. ??? Wedge salad was good, parm fries OK (kind of a weird ketchup, made onsite), holiday cookies were AWESOME! Highly recommend those. : )
Food wasn’t as good as I remembered. We had the oysters, Chicories Salad, Pasta Au Jour, and Swordfish. The swordfish was accompanied by a squash purée that reminded me too much of baby food. Pasta was just ok. Nothing special.
The poonch (?) that they served when we first arrived was delicious! It was a mulled wine from Austria that was made by one of the servers.
Service and ambiance was great. The food was the number.
We visited Bluestem before a show and it was great. The waiter helped us choose from their winter cocktail menu, gave us recommendations on food as well. The food came out quick, we had the fried chicken sandwich and chicory salad and the cornbread. All the food was delicious and our service was great, made it out with plenty of time to make it to the show.
Limited menu but not a problem, excellent beet salad! Our waiter Billy Ray was really attentive.
The service was very slow for ordering drinks and food. Even getting a bottle of red wine served took more than 20 minutes.
like all the greats, bluestem has it covered—the food of course, the architecture and interior design, the staff and service. but it's unique in its versatility. dine solo, with a date, or your whole family or office! and you can find what you might expect but also what you never imagined. for lunch yesterday we had the cornbread side, and fell in love so hard that we had it again for dessert, this time with a scoop of ice cream. can't wait to return for who knows what.
Xmas in SF with my grandchildren
One of the best meals and dining experiences that I have had. From the unique seasonal cocktails to the multilayered explosions of tastes to the seasonally hearty entrees and side dishes, to the sumptuous cookee plate .... can’t wait to visit again!
Very slow service
This is my new favorite place for brunch. I had dined here previously on several occasions for dinner, and had wanted to try the brunch menu. Dinner here has been consistently excellent over the years — but the brunch is even better. It’s a shame I don’t live in the Bay Area, but I’ll make it a point to come back here every time I’m in town.
We went here for our anniversary and it was really wonderful. The food was great, the environment was very pleasant, and our waiter was amazing, making sure everything was perfect. Would definitely recommend.
Very pricy menu, but the fact is that small plates and side dishes are the stars here: Broccoli, brussels sprouts, cornbread, salads. Share a main dish and gather up some sides ... and have a good time sharing.
Great location. We waited a long time for our drinks, the cocktails were pricey and not all that wonderful. The food was exceptionally good.
Seated within 10 minutes of arriving. Very interesting menu and rye waitress was willing to take special requests such as dressing on the side. Food was delicious.
Over the top server. Very intuitive and patient.
