Top notch all the way. Service was only surpassed by the quality of the food. A bit pricey, though.
This restaurant never ceases to strive for absolute perfection...and they just might have attained it!
Wonderful for every celebration. Ours was a birthday. Thank You!
While many restaurants get lots of hype in San Francisco, be they new and hip, or old and stodgy, this one is the "real deal". The ambiance, service, and menu are all outstanding. I was pleased to be seated in a section with mostly couples dining and the noise level was much more comfortable than the area toward the front of the restaurant, where larger groups are seated. I wish more restaurants separated larger groups from other diners. Our waiter was professional, precise, and extremely helpful in describing the dishes and adding his personal recommendations. We were greeted and seated promptly upon arrival. Our cocktails were exquisite in presentation and quality. Our appetizers were unique in their combinations of seafood with garnishes and vegetables. The entrees that we chose, with great difficulty selecting from among many attractive choices, were both outstanding in presentation and taste. These included a halibut that was the most tender I've ever tasted and a pork prime rib chop that was also the best I've ever tasted. I only wish we had more room for dessert!
A winner every time. Outstanding.
I really enjoyed the salmon entree and our waitress made an excellent recommendation for the wine.
The food and wine were wonderful as was our server, Gina. The downside was it took close to an hour to receive our entrees. Place was overbooked.
Friendly and efficient service. Helpful suggestions on menu options.
I just celebrated my 3 year anniversary with my fiancé and we had the best experience ever! The service was top notch and everyone we engaged with wished us a happy anniversary. I’m a vegetarian and they had some delicious raviolis and salads for me and also offered to make an off menu dish.
I would highly recommend Boulevard for anyone looking for an amazing meal and amazing service. We will definitely be back soon.
Great place with superb food!
Must try place if you have not!
Lunch was very “rushed” by server who was aware it was a social occasion vs business. Attempted to put entrees on top of table with salads and appetizers clearly present and barely eaten. When entrees were sent away, I spoke to server and said they should have never been fired that quickly. She said “taken care of”, but then brought same entrees ice cold 10 minutes later. Since my guest was from out of the country, I did not want to push the issue, as it would have been an utter embarrassment.
I eaten at Boulevard weekly for years, and this was truly terrible and completely inexcusable. Worst experience ever.
Lovely anniversary dinner. Upon arrival the hostess handed us a anniversary card and showed us to our seat. The food was great and cooked well. Service was also great.
My favorite restaurant in San Francisco. Best tuna tartare in the world.
My date and I arrived about 20 minutes early for out 8pm reservation and the host was able to seat us slightly early. During the seating, there’s a nice waiting area nearby the bar. We were surprised that dressing has gone slightly more casual. We dressed up to spice up the night.
The restaurant has a great ambiance, with domed sections of brick overhead and romantic lighting in the restaurant. The look reminds me of a wine cellar with the nice dark wood and brick ceiling. The temperature, lighting, and noise level was perfect. It too much noise and yet enough to see an active restaurant later in the night.
The service here was friendly and a good balance of checking in, not intrusive, and ensuring our needs were being met. I had the filet mignon, medium rare, and my date had the halibut.
We ordered the sashimi and calamari appetizer. Rustic bread was provided and out appetizer followed. The appetizer hit the spot well. It was lightly salted and the calamari was crisp, light and fresh. Their was quite a bit oil with the dish and while it was more than I’d prefer, it didn’t impact the yellowtail sashimi and avocado along with the pine nuts? Overall, loved the combination and we devoured it all.
My filet mignon was done just right along with brocollini which was easy to cut, not stringy and done well. The potatoes were also a great touch. It’s always been a winner here and it did not disappoint.
My date’s halibut was sublime. I had a taste. Cooked and still moist and fell apart in ones mouth. The sauce was light and very tasty. A winner!
We had went the non alcoholic drinks with a lemonade and an Arnold Palmer. Sweetened and no change needed.
We did decide on the caramel creme brûlée. I’m soooo glad we did. It looked small and it was set in a shallow dish but very wide. Why??? Because there was a huge crispy brown sugar top and less of the custard which I love so much! There were candied walnuts and some chocolate bits. We love it here and will be back!
One of San Francisco's finest restaurants. I have enjoyed every visit to Boulevard. They do everything right. There's nothing not to like.
Lovely evening and perfect dinner!
Omg, how have I missed this place. A simple but great menu. Be sure to ask for Tim—he is a San Francisco icon. He’s a great great waiter. A beautiful restaurant!
Chices lovely and nicely presented. Desert outstanding...and loved BD greeting.
Service was average...too much oversight when none appeared necessary or wanted. Also leased before both guests finished.
We wanted everything on the menu, and found everything (steak, burger, salmon) perfectly delicious but the desserts were outstanding. The pastry chef is brilliant. We had silky coffee creme brulee and heavenly apple bread pudding, both with all kinds of clever extras.
Excellent dining experience
Overall great experience!
Second wedding anniversary in a row that we’ve celebrated here. Brings us back to the City of Light if a bit dimmer.
Appreciate the window love seat. Server Jenny was efficient.
Thank you for the greeting card and the comp Turkish delight.
See you next year.
Boulevard has been our family’s favorite go-to restaurant whenever we’re in San Francisco. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was perfect! We shared the crab salad and scallops for starters. The crab was super tasty but the scallops was not as good this time. I thought it was too salty and a bit overcooked.
For our main entrees, we ordered filet mignon (always good), sea bass ( excellent), main lobster with risotto ( daughter said it was just okay). Skipped the dessert. You will have a lovely time here.
Absolutely fantastic evening at Boulevard! The food was sublime, the ambiance perfect, the service excellent. Cannot recommend this highly enough - reminiscent of old European quality and chic. Wonderful!
Low noise level and good for conversation. Excellent food preparations. Wait staff attentive but not overly so.
On my 70th birthday, my significant other and I received a table in the window. She had the quail appetizer and I had the pork chop. It was the best pork chip I've ever eaten. We shared a great dessert that came with a birthday candle. Outstanding in every way.
Excellent food, service, wines and ambiance. We have been coming here for years and it's always great. The price is high, but it's worth it.
Always a great treat when visiting San Francisco! Never a bad meal! A great spot for lunch and dinner.
Reliably the best place to eat in San Francisco, food, drinks, service and atmosphere.
It was our 39th wedding anniversary. For last 10-15 years we’ve celebrated at Boulevard. It has always been very good, but this time wait staff and kitchen out did their past stellar performances. Like previous times, we ordered 4 appetizers and one of the salads, all of which we shared. All were amazingly delicious. Not clear if we truly had a favorite, but the most memorable were the little ravioli stuffed with Fonduta and served with shaved black truffles. The fried calamari, quail and fab persimmon walnut field greens salad.
Great food. Our waitress was too intrusive but we will be back since the food is so good.
Fantastic meal. Brought two little kids and they were very accommodating. Everything from the kids ravioli to my halibut were cooked perfectly. Can’t wait to have another excuse to come back.
Great service and a wonderful meal
As usual, the food and service were excellent.
Our favorite restaurant in SF 😊
The basic entree menu doesn't seem to change much, there is always a steak, a pork chop, one or two fish dishes, a vegetarian dish, and this time there was a lamb dish. But the accouterments of the entrees do change from time to time, and they are always interesting. Also the dishes are very well prepared. The starters seem to have more variety and, dare I say, creativity or response to what's fresh in the market.
The service is on a par (at least) with the food, always genial and comfortable, never intrusive, Boulevard has become an institution without suffering the drawbacks that such a status often imposes. Just always the same excellent level of food and service.
Plus we (a party of two) were seated at the corner window table in the front, which was delightful.
Always a wonderful experience !
The portion size was a bit disappointing but after all it is San Francisco we made the mistake in trying to share ..., don’t do it
Food use to be outstanding years ago. No longer. Too much effort on presentation. No much on flavor.
Dinner for my wife’s birthday. The service was a little slow, but not surprising for Christmas Eve. The beet salad was refreshing as an opener. My wife had the lamb t-bone and was very happy with it. As for myself, I had the butternut squash arancini which was lighter than other menu items but vegetarian and very satisfying. The bread pudding dessert made for a nice finish to the meal.
Traditional Christmas Eve dinner.
