Shrimp and Grits
Creamy pecorino grits
With lemon and EVOO
Cucumber, celery and radish salad and lemon vinaigrette
Delicious food, friendly people and nice surroundings.
Hard to find the building.
The quality of the food and service can't be faulted. The atmosphere was excellent, although there was only one other couple dining at the time we were there. An excellent special occasion dining choice. Prices were on the high side, but quality of the food justified the price.
I'll recommend Brandl to friends.
Great service and wonderful menu
We went for New Year’s Eve dinner. Food was fantastic although the prix fix price was a little high at $125 per person. Several people at our table had the bacon appetizer and it was excellent. The crab cake and French onion soup also received compliments. The Lazy Lobster was amazing! The Porterhouse for 2 was delicious. And the dessert trio - yummy! The Lemon cheesecake was my favorite. The ambiance is great and service was great too!
Excellent from start to finish
!t was our 1st time there and we thought the place had a nice flow and lighting. Not crowded at all but could be a covid thing. The menus are the absolute worst as they are handwritten script and some very light and small print. This led to a problem with the host who also took our order as when I asked a question, he referred me back to the menu which I explained wasn't legible. He seemed put out telling me my options. We got past that but didn't care for the pot sticker app that we split. It was deep fried and lacked any positive mention. I chose the grilled veal chop as a treat and it was good but did not blow me away. The creamed spinach had an unusual spice added which I thought gave it a strange taste. Maybe nutmeg which I don't want in my creamed spinach. My wife's short ribs were very good however and disappeared quickly . What we found odd was that no one ever approached us to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything. I would understand if it were busy but there was only about 6 tables full. Lastly, we thought it overpriced. It was a special night for us and we wanted to like it but it fell short of our expectations. Hope others have a better experience.
Ambiance was nice, food was just okay, service was poor.
COVID PETRI DISH!
The night we dined here, the restaurant was packed and not a single member of the staff was wearing a mask. Despite having tested negative three times in the week before our dinner (including the day of our dinner), two of our guests came down with COVID within a week of dining here.
ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!
In addition to being a significant health risk, the restaurant suffers from a number of service and food quality issues:
We made reservations for Christmas Eve, largely based on the restaurant's website which touted a "Seven Fishes a la Carte” menu (in addition to a Take Out Menu option). When we arrived, we were told that the seven fishes menu was only offered for catering; at that point it was too late for us to go somewhere else.
Not finding any of the offered seafood entrees appealing, we ordered their Beef Wellington instead. When asked by the server how we wanted the meat cooked, I requested medium rare; the server responded that they could only offer medium because the beef is cooked in a pastry.
Three issues - (1) if they only offer medium, why bother asking? (2) Given a price of $55, I should be able to order medium rare if I want (3) The restaurant should be able to use a meat thermometer to deliver a medium rare Beef Wellington.
Additionally, because the restaurant is BYOB and we had planned on seafood, we had brought an expensive Sauvignon Blanc which did not pair well with the beef entree.
Finally, in order to accommodate a party of six at a table next to us that is usually reserved for four, the restaurant squeezed in extra seating. Unfortunately for the couple adjacent to that table, one of them had to get up EVERY TIME a server came to our table.
Message to management - don't bother adding a table for US in the future because we will not be back.
Food was excellent. Service was superb. Energy was wonderful!!
It was very pretty and interesting inside. Food was very pedestrian and over priced. Wait staff WAS NOT WEARING FACE MASKS. My waiter was so closed every time he came to the table I could smell his putrid breath, he was also rather curt when speaking to our table. Had to get up and ask for more water twice.
I would not go back to this place. :( Try harder, lower your prices.
Let's start with the positives. The food was was good. I went with my family (7) and we all ordered something different and we all thought the food was exceptional. I booked reservations for Christmas Eve. Before I booked I emailed Brandl's and asked if they knew what the specials for dinner would be at the restaurant . I was told the specials for Christmas Eve dinner would be the 7 fishes. When we got there we were told that the 7 fishes were only for catering. We were disappointed. We also felt very rushed. As soon as we finished with appetizers even before those dishes were cleared our dinner came out. Very rushed. As I said the food was very good but for a Christmas Eve dinner I was disappointed. I would not recommend Brandl's for a special night dinner.
I highly recommend Brandl. Not only is the food amazing and fresh but the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is wonderful!
Food was delicious. They had live music that was very nice. He even played a few Christmas songs 🎄🎅
Brandl's signature dishes, Lazy Lobster, Thai Shrimp, and the Mibrasa Grille Steak (cooked to perfection) all lived up to the buzz. In addition, the Dark Chocolate Brandl Soufflé that you order at the start of your meal was memorable. Indoor and warmed outdoor seating was available to choose from - we chose indoor and the atmosphere was cozy and quiet. The head waiter was very professional, and the service was outstanding. Brandl is pricey but worth it for a special night out.
The waiter was incredibly rude & spoke to us as if we were lucky to be in his presence. Prices are on the higher end, but I was more than happy to pay for it because everything was prepared and presented perfectly.
I tried using a $20 coupon that came in the mail, which the waiter just said no. When asked to speak with the manager, he came up with a poor excuse of a lie as why it was fake and that it was not approved by the owner. He then blamed the printing company for creating the coupon. It got to the point where it was no longer about the coupon itself, and all I was looking for was to have the manager admit his lines of BS were lies and not well thought out. Had he been upfront simply said he can’t accept it, it would have been over.
Overall, I’d go back but not anytime soon.
Food is delicious! The best tuna steak I’ve ever had.
Super over priced
Need a decor update
Scallops were delicious
Won’t be back
Best short rib dinner I have ever had.
great food, as always
We had a wonderful meal. We shared a Ceasar salad, my wife's filet mignon was excellent. I had the beef short ribs and they were wonderful. The jazz was perfect for a quiet date night with my wife.
First time dining here and overall it was really great! Only thing keeping it from being 5 stars for me is the menu was a little hard to read (looked hand-written) and the booth side of our table wasn't very comfortable to sit at. It was very low from the table and on wheels so it moved easily. But the meal and the service was excellent and we will definitely go back!
Always great. A bit pricey. Tables close.
Limited menu selection and on the pricy side but food was delicious. Restaurant was small inside and tables are very close together. It’s a BYOB which is a plus. Service was outstanding. We would go back but perhaps for a special Occasion.
We had a reservation for 4. They took a table for 10 and seated us at one end. Luckily for us only a party of 2 was seated at the other end so it didn't get too awkward. Unfortunately the waiter had to return to our table after our order was placed because they had run out of a soup special. That was a bummer on a Saturday night. Estimate 100 per person including tip. It's a BYOB which is awesome - I get exactly the bottle of wine I want :)
Wonderful service great food !
This restaurant was recommended to me by a work associate, this is one of his favorite places to dine. I went with my friends and every dish was perfectly prepared and so delicious. I had blackened tuna over black rice and it was amazing. My friends ordered braised short ribs to die for and drunken lobster I think it was called , also delicious. The chocolate soufflé was amazing too. We also enjoyed the art work , music and ambiance . We will definitely be going back to this quaint , delicious , slightly hidden gem !
Was a birthday date night. This place has changed, for the better. Great ambiance. Delicious food. BUT....Rather expensive. Will be back, Want to try the steak. (Saving up)
Innovative food. One of the best restaurants I have been in quite a while. Definitely will be back.
Disappointing experience at Brandl. Started out fine with tasty appetizers - butternut squash soup, potsticker du jour, and oysters Rockefeller. Then things began to go downhill. Our waiter cleared the dishes from the table adjacent to ours and proceeded to dump most of the dirty dishes onto my wife's back. He apologized and offered to pay for dry cleaning, but really hard to recover from that.
While my wife and mother-in-law were in the restroom trying to get stains out of her sweater, our entrees arrived. Unfortunately, ALL of the food delivered was cold. I don't mean lukewarm or room temperature - actually cool to the touch. I can only guess it sat waiting to be delivered for a long time.
At this point, I think our server was trying to avoid our table as it took about five minutes to flag him down at explain everything was cold. He apologized and another man came over (chef?) asking if we wanted him to "refire" all our food. I reiterated again that it was all cold, and we had no intention of eating cold veal and steak. Plates disappeared and came back a few minutes later. The meat had been slightly warmed up but obviously just the meat as different cuts were put on different plates - my wife's steak came back on the plate my father-in-law had his veal on originally (obvious to us as he had put sides and sauce on his plate before we sent them back).
Our waiter comped us dessert to try and make up for everything but it was still a less than satisfying meal out. I don't mind paying for quality food but it irks me to shell out for a cold meal and mediocre to bad service.
Lazy lobster risotto was delicious. My party also had the Braised short ribs off the regular menu and the Grilled pork tenderloin off the fixed menu.. Pumpkin cheesecake for dessert and apple strudel with ice cream. From the welcoming at the door to the check it was a great time. The Brussel sprouts with pomegranate molasses alone is worth the visit! Do BYOB.
We love this restaurant! The menu changes seasonally and the choices are not what you will find at other places. There is always a unique take on each dish. Servers are very good and will make your experience a good one no matter the occasion!
Our waitress wasn’t very nice. Neither was the older man at the podium when we walked in. No one seemed happy to be there. 2 people in my party got filet mignon, both seemed very over cooked. I ordered the Lazy Lobster over risotto which was really good. And the other person we dined with ordered the dry aged steak, which was decent. Caesar salad was very bland, barely had a taste. Not sure if we will be going back.
Food was good but not as outstanding as expected for the price. Tables were extremely close and the music playing was a little too loud. Our waiter was exceptional! Very informative, attentive and personable. Overall good experience.
On Saturday, they have Jazz music. 1 artist, who did a wonderful job.
Very disappointed with our last visit. Last year was our first visit but wanted to give this place another try this past week.
The host is far from welcoming and our waitress was not very friendly which is why the service gets 1 star. I don't want to hear about service levels during covid-19 because there are a number of restaurants in Point Pleasant with much better service.
The food was just okay, the tuna was a little salty.
The soufflé dessert special cost almost $30 and came out scalding hot without much warning from the waitress.
It's a byob with potential since it's near some other restaurants with a parking lot, but we will not be returning to Brandl. There are too many other better options near the shore.
The only negative was that we had to wait for our party to be complete to get seated. That made us anxious because tables that we were hoping for were getting filled. Fortunately the second half of our party was only a few minutes late and we had a nice table. Good and service was excellent
The food and service was excellent. Had dinner in the last few weeks at La Modina, Barelis and hands down Brandl was the best experience!
We have been to Brandl many times and they never disappoint. We celebrated a 50th birthday and everything was great. The service by Vincent was top notch!
Delicious entrees and the service was on point as usual. I even ventured out and tried a new option on the early bird special menu and was quite surprised. Always great food and wonderful staff!!! Might be back this weekend!!!
