Brother Hubbard - North
Sharing menu was fabulous, staff were friendly, limited but good choice of mains. Will be back.
It took over an hour after ordering to get any food. The server forgot our starters so the starters were delivered after our mains. The staff did apologise and didn’t charge us for the starters. However, this is not the first time where I’ve waited over an hour for food to be served only to be told that our order hasn’t been processed. The food is excellent. It’s such a pity the service falls so far short.
Excellent food and lovely staff! Highly recommended!
Excellent service and incredible food. Loads of choice for vegetarians and vegans. Highly recommend getting the Middle East Feast sharing menu for dinner which allows you to try a great scope of the menu!
My aubergine starter was lovely , my fish main dish was a little on bland side , I would prefer more veg to be served and the rice portion with it was v bland , I really don’t like the practice of having to order sides w your main , I think the chef should compliment the main w their take on auditable veg, portion size wa on small side , our second round of drinks came when we were nearly finished our main and it was a long time before we saw any staff to get bill so our boss went in pursuit of the bill
Food was okay - service avg. A little overpriced for what is offered in my opinion
Fabulous vegetarian food that even non vegetarians will love
Everything was very good and I really appreciated the care they put into checking and serving coeliac-friendly food and making sure the coeliac guest had the same experience as everyone else.
Food was good but service was slow. The server was friendly though. Not sure if they were just busy but took over 10 minutes to just get our drinks.
Great tasting food in lovely decor. It is a large venue so can get loud.
We felt rather ignored by our server. I am an American, but hav traveled to Dublin several times. I understand that our American service attention standards are different, but this was bordering on rude, and it seemed to me that several other tables were getting more attention. Our waiter every stuttered every approach to the table with, "I'm so sorry...." It seemed like it might be a style thing for him, but combined with the lack of attention and jerky flow to the food serves and experience it only pointed out the issue more. Probably only fair to say also as context, we had eaten at Chapter One two days before - and that was a dining experience. Hope this is helpful.
We have been coming to Brother Hubbard since it first opened and are loyal customers. However, lately there just doesn't seem to be the same level of love in the food...we feel that the attention to detail has fallen off in terms of quality, taste, presentation etc. A couple of small niggles too that slightly undermined our enjoyment...our table was so dark that we had to use our phone flashlights to read the menu and couldn't see the food properly when it arrived. All of our food arrived at the same time which meant that our table was so overcrowded with plates etc that the eating experience was chaotic rather than relaxing. Maybe we could have been given the choice to have it slightly staggered? Despite all this we will continue to eat here and to recommend to friends...but fingers crossed things will improve!
This was my second visit to Brother Hubbard North within two weeks. On the first occasion I shared the Haloumi starter, Lebneh and two small plates (aubergine and cauliflower) with my daughter. We also shared a very rich but good chocolate dessert. I thought the flavours of the savoury food were outstanding on the first occasion. The second time, I ate only the 'mezze' part of the two-course option (it was sufficient for me). It was good, but not as good as the food I ate on the first occasion. In particular, I wasn't convinced by the trail-mix component of it. I think olives or similar would have been better.
But I would definitely go again. The sparkling water is particularly good value, the house wine is reasonable by Dublin standards, the complimentary tea at the end was a nice touch. I had an alcohol-free beer the second time, and glad to see it on the menu. The ambiance is very pleasant.
I really enjoyed my visit to Brother Hubbard, warm and friendly greetings by each of the staff on my arrival, prompt service, nice menu with fresh ingredients all contributed to a very enjoyable evening.
Friendly staff, some tasty dishes others were a bit unbalanced for my taste. Awful whiskey sour to finish sadly.
We had the Middle east feast Sharing menu, which is the best food we have ever had, friendly service staff,
Food was lovely apart from the crispy potatoes which were soggy and bland.
Very limited wine menu which precludes me from revisiting.
Nice food and friendly service. Good value for money.
Drinks arrived in dribs and drabs after a significant wait - barman clearly couldn't cope and restaurant wasn't even busy.
Wine served in tumblers.
Warm tap water brought to the table.
Food was ok but expensive.
On requesting the bill we found that they were trying to charge 2.50 per jug for the water & indeed charged for 4 jugs even though there were only three on the table.
Service charge applied automatically and not deserved.
Not as good as previous visits really enjoyed the starters the chicken main wasnt up to standard
Service wasnt as good as normal waiting so long didnt have desert
Great ambience, service food and drinks. We shared a few plates and the outsanding factor was flavor. Everything tasted amazing and was very appetisingly presented. Had an amazing night.
Had been a few times before and loved it, this time the service was slow and lackluster and the food was ok, for a table of 6 1big platter to be divided We had sharing platters here before but between 2 people it’s very messy having 1 platter for 6 people, big mix up with drinks and the food was grand just a disappointing evening.
On entry half of the dining area was closed off which made it feel odd. Food was lovely but our mains were brought out straight after our starter plates were cleared- we were there for an evening dinner, not fast food in and out.. service wasnt great- we had to remind the waiter we were still waiting for our bottle of wine which then arrived as we were nearly finishing our mains. Improve the service and it’d be a much better experience.
Excellent. Spacious and airy. Attentive and helpful staff. Great portions too!
Amazing food! Very creative and tasty. Price is very good for this quality. Good atmosphere and service. We go there pretty often for both lunch and dinners
Really good and tasty food that's a bit different from others. Everything was good. Staff friendly and service cannot be faulted. Great place pre-theatre.
Wonderful place, great staff and exceptional food. Try their 'house special' cola - fantastic. Veggie food was the thing that specifically attracted us there, and it exceeded expectations as it usually does.
Flavourful food made with the best ingredients, such a treat in a beautiful restaurant. Good for groups or intimate dining. Will be back. Well done BH
Food and service was excellent! Can’t wait to go back again!
Beautiful meal in a beautiful atmosphere! Our food was full of flavour and featured some really interesting combinations. What really stood out to me was the outstanding service from beginning to end. Our waiter was so helpful and patient and it was clear that they were fully informed and passionate about the food that was being served. Couldn't recommend highly enough and will be back again soon 😊 Thank you!
Lovely food. Sharing starter menu was the best. Perfect even for one vegan and one meat eater as starters were vegan and we could pick our own mains.
Service a little strange - starters came before drinks, but otherwise lots of fun being there
Delicious food and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely, relaxed meal, the food was very tasty with a variety of unusual tastes.
Had the sharing menu & it was really wonderful. So many new & unusual flavours to savour. The aubergine in particular was extraordinary.
The service was wonderful, friendly & attentive. The only complaint I'd have was that the courses were brought out thick & fast which made it feel like we were being rushed. The mains arrived while we were still working on the starters. Really would've lined to have taken out time to enjoy the flavours more. Overall, though, a very good experience.
Fabulous food and what an amazing dessert, cheesecake like we’d never had before, simply delicious
Fantastic restaurant. Beautiful food & excellent service
Spectacular food. Each mouthful was a complete burst of flavour. Careful balance of spices using expertly chosen seasonings done in such a way that it did not overpower the body of the meal. Caters for dietary restrictions / choices. Staff subtly attentive.
Amazing service, ambience and food.
Spectacular. One of the best meals of my life.
